jim mk2
You can't pin the blame on anyone if they hit the woodwork. However, when you get an unfair decision against you, then you blame the ref. Big difference. If you start blaming the ref for defeats you're in trouble. To use an old cliche, over the course of the season these things even out and (to use another cliche) you make your own luck in football anyway. The woodwork did save us an extraordinary number of times in the latter part of the season though.

If you start counting the times the other team hits the post you might as well count any shots the keeper saves or that go wide they are still shots that did not go in. You're clutching at straws Jim. To go with the old cliche, name me 5 decisions that went for us this season? Only one I can remember is the WBA game when they should have had a penalty. davulsukur
Plus we must have hit the bar/post a few times over the season. Post saved man utd if i remember rightly. We also hit the post/bar against Newcastle (as did they against us)

I would contend that the ball hitting the woodwork on numerous occasions is luck . There were probably 5 decisions in every match that went for and against us. Blaming the ref for poor results / performances is the road to relegation.
47er
My mate is a Stoke fan and has told me that Stoke have had a massive bid for Huth from a London club and have had to accept. If true this could only be good for us with Jones and Samba. Huth will be a huge loss for Stoke. Spurs?

Kelbo
I'm not comfortable about Larsson. I've got a feeling he might have an attitude problem. Your feeling is correct Mum!!
Kenwoo
Not to happy about us making efforts to re-sign RSC but I think he'll do a damn sight better if we do get hold of Larsson. Larsson is so similar to Bentley, so you would hope Roque would thrive, or at least get a few with decent deliveries into the box.
Ricky
Surely we have to be showing some interest in the fairly impressive list of bosmans available throughout Europe. I reckon you could put a decent team together made up purely out of free signings. Yes I know the wages can be high but it's offset by no fee. magicalmortensleftpeg
If Larsson is free then I have no complaints. The guy has a great set piece and can also play at full back (I think?). I think we'd have a use for him although there are far greater priorities elsewhere.
super_arran
No way for Warnock, he's past it. Winds me up when people say that Was he over the hill when we sold him? Nowhere near. Was he passed it last summer when he was in the 30 man squad for the world cup? Nope. He's fallen out of favour at Villa. That's all. My guess is; he's still a good player. He just needs to play So to say he's past it is just plain daft.
Amo
I'd take Warnock back, if it's a cut-price deal. He's a solid player and a natural full-back, who can also cover in midfield.

I actually thought Bosmans would have been the way we were going to operate mainly. Along with loan deals.
Hughesy
I think Warnock was over-rated when he was here, he made too many rash decisions and was often caught out of position. At a couple of years older now, id stay clear. Good point about Larsson to help RSC….could be true as his delivery from set pieces and crosses are excellent. If he was to become 1st team then it would suggest Hoilett will play in the hole more often….or perhaps on the left with Olsson behind him to overlap?? I'd hope we would keep Olsson away from left back and have him Hoilett and Larsson (if we got him) as an attacking 3 with a target man up top, Hoilett playing just off him like at Wolves. With N'Zonzi and J Jones at DM, this would cause most teams in the Premier League a lot of problems. Obviously all depends on who we sign.

There's a good argument that Warnock would be the best alternative for us given the expected transfer fee and his experience with us. If you're going to write him off, whom do you suggest we target instead?

Hughesy
....and his experience with us. Whats that, when he had his head inflated & wanted to go to a bigger club to win things after we rebuilt his career?? As for an alternative....id prefer someone with abit of pace, who is much younger and that can improve, and not a dead end investment
