Matthew Upson on a free or pay the 15-20m brum want for one of their centre halves?

Birmingham are in terrible shape financially. If we lost Samba I reckon they'd have to take any bids upward of 7 million seriously for Johnson or Dann. I'd take Upson but only if his wages were relatively low. Imagine he's on a tonne at West Ham.

Rovers interest in 3 players from Germany and are all forwards. Players are Papiss Demba Cissé from SC Freiburg,

Didier Ya Konan from Hannover 96 and Mladen Petric from Hamburg.

If we don't sign anyone new but keep Jones, Samba and Hoilett, will this transfer window be seen as a success?

Personally, if we could do that and add the permanent signing of JJones, and bring in some further decent loans, I'd be reasonably pleased (relatively speaking). But we need two of those loans to be strikers. And that's without selling Kalinic.

I don't understand this paranoia about us being a "selling club". If Arsenal sell Nasri to Man Utd as some papers have it, are they a selling club? If Modric goes there from Spurs, are Tottenham a selling club?

A "selling club" builds its business model on developing young or under-appreciated talent with the intent of making a profit on them, or so the wisdom of the fan has it. The fact is that this is all but four or five clubs in the world. Players want to move on, play at the highest level available to them - Blackburn Rovers won't be in the Champions League in the next five years (despite what Venkys may or may not have unwisely said).

Kean on Radio Lancs tonight.

Happy with the good finish to the season, especially the run of 7 positive results out of the last nine games.

Wants to sign RSC, JJ and MB Diouff. If their clubs don't want to seel, then he'll back off because he doesn't want to unsettle the players.

Andy Bayes sounding a bit dubious about Kean wanting RSC in particular and asking for Rovers fans to contact Radio Lancs with their views on the manager.

The poster who mentioned a £16 million price clause in Phil Jones's contract seems to be very well-informed. Congratulations on that info.

In which case Rovers have well & truly F***** themselves over with a clause. Will we EVER learn? - especially when we only renegotiated his contract in the last 8 months.

Edit: In fact how the hell can that **** head Kean be quoted in the Telegraph as saying "it will take a big offer, bigger than we've ever had before". if he knew about the clause? I could seriously swing for the drink driving, two faced, lying little ****

Won't there still be a bidding war though?

Or will it be £16m and Phil goes to who he chooses?

Is this one that Kean and Venkys will be blamed for I wonder?

£16m seems a fair price I feel but obviously we are biased

Well, Kean said he made a good contribution in the dressing room.

I've got a feeling he might have an ability problem.

Me too Tyrone.

so it looks like it is up to Phil Jones whether he stays. If he goes then we need a replacement line up first before he's goes. Either Bassong or Collins or can we rely on Givet, Hanley and Matthew Pearson from the academy and reserves. Suppose to be the next Phil Jones from what a mate said to me a couple of months ago. Then uses the money to sign a quality striker or 2 plus a proper left back and young right back to take over from Salgado.

This has deflated my afternoon. Was hoping that Phil would do well at the Under 21s and his prce would go up. Never mind.

Maybe offer him a new deal? WITH NO PI$$ING CLAUSE!!!

If Liverpool are offering £18.5 million for Henderson then we've done ourselves. Was the new deal for Jones not negotiated under the new regime?

He resinged ofr 5 years back in May last year and then a 1 year extention in Feb this year, maybe he renogitated this year to add the clause in to protect himself but then again it would be daft to add it in on our part.

I would sign JJ permanent for sure.

RSC I undecided on because if he got the service then I think he would score goals like he did under Hughes with Bentley. But can he play more than 25 games a season. that's the main problem is his fitness. John Terry said last week he was away on hoilday and he seen RSC and RSC was working on his fitness.

MD I wouldn't.

Forcibly inserted against his will no doubt.

Does it not mean that we can't refuse a bid of 16 million but it is not a cap on bidding? Given that all the top clubs are after him, surely the rest won't just sit back at 16 million and say, "Oh well" when he signs for someones else?
