Well I have to say if this goes through I will be utterly hacked off at the lying cheating Indians for letting this happen especially when they said no players needed to be sold yet we seem to be selling our 2 major players and will go to suggest one thing they are not serious about a top 8 finish because to achieve a top 8 finish we need to keep hold of players like Jones & Samba and add netter players to that group I can only hope this turns out to be BS next few days will be interesting.

Did somebody say recently 'Rovers are not a selling club' No need to sell to buy. What a load of rubbish that was.

No wonder Kean was saying 'we have a good budget'.

5mill is not a good budget. When PJ is sold - wonder where the money will go? I have no confidence in Venkys or Kean.

The impact on Season ticket sales if both those go will be immense, we cant score goals and our central defence has gone, with respect to the Venkeans, this is not good for Rovers!!

I must admit - any limited confidence I gained in Kean and Venky's following our bright end to the season would be lost if Jones moves on. If a player who supports Rovers doesn't believe we have a good future with Kean and Venky's - what chance convincing Samba and Hoilett ? Even worse if he goes to Liverpool - who are a way off being a CL team these days.

To be honest I believe Liverpool will have a very good season next season.

But Rovers with Venkys and Kean - I am already dreading it.

Someone come and kick this bunch out of the club.

More importantly, it highlights the Venkys statement, 'we will not sell our young players' without any bias at all, how can we believe a word they tell us?

We don't even know when the clause was inserted!

If a player has a clause and its reached then surely we have no choice other than to be selling. That does not make Rovers a selling club per se, it just means there is nothing we can do as a club to stop it. If a clause is met then its the player's choice not the clubs. EVERY club is a selling club if a clause is met!!

Christ, there are some hysterics around here.

Phil Jones has a fixed fee in his contract. In the same way that Damien Duff did.

Yes, it looks a bit lower than you would want...but that was clearly agreed by ALL parties.

And as yet nobody has hit the figure.

Funnily enough two top managers think they are signing him. And neither think they will have to go to £16 million.

I suggest both are deluded.

This is far from finished.

Chill out dude. There is a clear difference between not having to sell for financial reasons and a player moving onto a bigger club. It will always happen to us, in fact it happens to pretty much every club with the exception of real and barcelona.

If we can't convince a Rovers fan to stay then there is little hope for Samba and Hoilett.

Even more worrying is that our "manager" thinks we should be keeping Roque and MB Diouf.

It's not looking good.

Still exciting times.

Any indication on when this clause may have been added?

Who are the managers who think they are buying PJ.

When the owners and the manager repeatedly tell the media that Rovers are not a selling club, that they want to build a team around their young players - yet are willing to allow one to go the first time they receive a possible offer. It does dampen confidence in anything the owners and the manager say.

He's currently with the U21 squad, so I don't know what the chances are that he'd genuinely be shown around Melwood earlier today.

£16m is a fair fee in my eyes - could have been more, but then could well have been less.

Liverpool is the best move, working with Kenny and his young squad and he should slot straight into their first team.

Rovers fan or not, you can't expect him to turn a move like that down (or triple/quadruple his wages) regardless of who is manager or who owns Rovers.

If you don't pay the release clause then you don't get him. simply as!!!

I am going to believe Nicko before just website called the mersey juror. The website probably knows nothing and probably read the papers.

Not if we are an ambitious club. Not when we have owners who say they want the club to be a success.

Here's the question, without agreeing to the 'clause (£16,000,000) how could he have visited Melwood?

Surely in those circumstances that would constitute an illegal approach?
