Remember a certain Mr Shearer? now, who was our manager then? Hadn't we just won a rather important trophy? Tell me. Did we keep Shearer? NO! Still let's not let the facts get in the way of your antiKean/Venky's agenda eh

You're not a Rovers fan are you

If the inevitable happens and Phil Jones leaves us at just 19 what would people prefer us to do, look at alternatives around those interested and get the best deal for our club or just take the £16m straight?

Some of the part-ex options below:

United – Gibson, Anderson, Wellbeck, M Diouf

City – Boyata, SWP, Onouha, Bellamy, RSC

Liverpool – Poulsen, Maxi Rodriguez, Aquilani

Chelsea – Sturridge as part of the deal?? Kakuta

Spurs – Bentley, Krancjar, Defoe, Bassong

Must say Liverpool looks like the poorest option for our club….cant see too many wanting to spend a straight £16m cash on him, so we need to use our bargaining chip the best we can.

Worries me that if we deal with City then they will take Jones for something like £10m + RSC….which id be gutted about!

ive added 3 Liverpool players Hughesy

Would beg to differ.

Keeping our best players by having a manager who is widely respected and likely to attract better players to Ewood. If we don't need to sell, as Venky's keep telling us, then someone like Mark Hughes would have contained this situation. Players want to see the club progressing on to bigger things and this is not what has happened since Stephen Kean's appointment 2 or 3 wins in 15 matches is regression.

So what happened to Damien Duff, Craig Bellamy, David Bentley, Roque Santa Cruz and Stephen Warnock??

Duff and Bellamy walked away when we had just qualified for Europe. Those sides were 'progressing' if I remember correctly.

Players will move when bigger teams want them. This is the nature of football. Venky's/Kean cannot force the lad to stay in the same way that we couldnt force any of the above players to stay.

If Phil Jones wants to leave then its his decision. He is the one who should be judged for wanting to go elsewhere. I dont blame him for going but I had hoped he'd stick around for one further year at least considering he is a 'fan'.

They sold Torres for £50m to cover both of those two, they also let Aquilani go out with the hope they would get £8m back, and sold Babel for £7m too!

As for Liverpool this season - If you wish to back them with £500 that they will win it, i will be willing to back the same amount to say they wont win it. Dont be like the deluded scousers....Henderson is no world beater :tu:

Suarez was a done deal BEFORE Torres was sold. Carrol was bought in to "replace" Torres. That is why most Liverpool fans are still bitter about Torres, the fact that he decided to leave when the club started to invest. Something they were unable to do when the Americans were in charge.

I'm not backing them to win the league, all I am saying is that they HAVE a lot of money to spend this Summer. This is outlined by the amount they are willing to spend on Henderson.

I take it you've not seen Henderson play much?

Brush up on your knowledge lad.

Suarez done before Torres?? Yes by a matter of hours….Suarez signed on Monday 31st Jan….Torres left the same day! Torres told the media on the 28th Jan he wanted to leave for Chelsea. Babel went on the 18th Jan…..say what you want – they spent nothing after sales in January. They started to invest hours before they sold their BEST striker.

They may well spend money. And yes I have seen Henderson many a time, Yes he has potential but he it isn’t going to turn them into title contenders. Deluded if you think otherwise!

Iceman are you madUpson the same Upson who was absolutely dire in a 3rd rate WHU team who's positioning for certain goals was terribly suspect if we are to invest the money wisely we need a better class of player than Upson

Agreed 100%. Upson has been atrocious the last couple of seasons.

Read what the West Ham fans think about him here:

http://kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=132282&sid=c511aeb0f792ee5deb3949407f4f0139

f*** him, lazy c***. Hope he rots in some sh*t house footballing backwater!!
No goodbye/thanks/apology from our Captain? Sneaking out the backdoor?

Looks like he is as much as a spinless c*** off the pitch as he was on it.

No respect and a terrible attitude. Hope no one signs him.

I can't even begin to say how much is wrong with this.

So Shearer didn't leave, we didn't have a respected manager and we hadn't won the premier league only the season before? So carry on, tell me just "how much is wrong with this"

With us Shearer was the best striker in the world- he had it all.

However, that knee injury he got in his second season at Newcastle meant he lost the raw speed, he was more of a conventional centre forward after that.

But 1992-1997, wow.

Ankle I think... at Goodison.

He reached his potential as a player - his goalscoring record proves that.

His lack of medal success is down to leaving Blackburn Rovers. Just think if that championship team had stayed together and Jack hadn't turned off the money tap.

Dugarry and Shearer up top with Zidane providing the bullets! Dreamtime.

Try getting some REAL inside information on the Suarez deal and then come back to me. Right now you're just going off dates. Any idea when Liverpool made their interest in Suarez known Hughesy? Like I said, you have no idea. Henderson has as much potential of being a world class player, as Phil Jones.

Judging by papers today, either my source was correct about the release clause, or they've been trawling the forum.

Under different circumstances- i.e with John Williams in charge, and possibly a different manager- I wouldn't be worried about Jones leaving. However, I think if Jones gets a move, Samba will be desperate to leave. The most rational decision would be (if we sold both) to use a decent amount of the cash to bid for Roger Johnson and Scott Dann. I don't think any of the top 4 will realistically be chasing them.

However, I honestly believe that Jerome Anderson still has a large influence over transfer decisions. I think we're more likely to do deals that will line his pockets rather than sign players that will benefit the team the most.

Referring to the Independant report - 'Venkys, could yet veto any attempts by Jones to leave the club'

My question, can they do that if he has a release clause?

samba to arsenal ..phil jones to liverpool - this isnt good

It is a consequence of the current situation. Sorry but if I was the agent to a talented and marketable player at BRFC I'd want him away from the current managerial and ownership situation asap..... and away from Anderson's influence even quicker!

I'm definitely no expert on contract law but surely if they meet the sum written into the contract, then I don't think there's anything the club can do other than let the player decide.

That is what JA did at Man City by all accounts, reports stated he made £7 million plus in one transfer window.

It is worrying some major decisions will be made under Venky's/Anderson/Kean. Worrying based on their track record (of decisions) and also very inexperienced (apart from Anderson that is) - still early days though and nothing has happened yet....

I'm not saying the clause wasn't renegotiated but that says to me a clause was inserted during the last regime.

It's good that they aren't happy about it. If indeed it is true.

I've been told Anderson made close to what we reportedly spent in January. I'm guessing that's through agents fees, but also possibly a percentage of loanee's wages.

If they don't offer 16M straight (and assuming the contract clause is as reported) then the owners can refuse to sell him. Part exchanges don't count because we can refuse to agree the other club's valuation.

So if nobody offers 16M straight he stays surely?

10M + Santa is giving them their money back+

I'd add Bosingwa to that list as he is a free agent.

Llist of all Europe's Bosmans for this summer.

Re: the 16m cash, wonder if it has to be upfront? to activate the clause.
