copie Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Larsson: average prem player Ba : medical issues / high maintenance Upson : slated by the WHU fans for having no heart Jones : quality, but history of issues Sturrige: potential to become a worldie - bigger than us Who'd be a football manager! Agreed - and from reading this board for quite a while without posting I have learnt that no matter who we sign it will never be enough to please everyone on here An average Premiership player is arguably as good as we currently have in some areas of the team, and is also arguably as good as we can hope to sign this summer having only just survived last season and with a rookie manager at the helm

deryck guyler's spoon Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Why would I name people? Fair enough. I'll choose not to believe you. We have more than enough wannabe scoopmeisters with an agenda on here.
Hughesy Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Another club over a barrel it seems, although they have possibly got Onuaha & Boyatta (sp) as part of the deal Gary Cahill has £17m release clause - off to City

Oh..... I've just spotted the fatal flaw in my cunning plan!
Kenwoo Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Fair enough. I'll choose not to believe you. We have more than enough wannabe scoopmeisters with an agenda on here. That's absolutely fine. However I'd prefer it if you didn't imply I was a 'wannabe scoopmeister' or that I have 'an agenda'. I only started posting on here in April, was told about the release clause on Sunday, which I posted on here in good faith, to let fellow fans know this was possibly the case. It now seems that info is correct but it also seems that if you dont name your sources you get stick. I certainly don't have an agenda other than the welfare of BRFC. I know a couple of people who work in football and I'm grateful that I sometimes get information from them but I'll definitely keep it to myself in future.
Roverite28 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Have we ever been linked with any of them? Everybody we're linked with currently is so depressing. No just my thoughts on the situation, much like you im depressed as hell with the names being linked. With my suggestions we would have a very healthy squad imo. GK - Robbo, Bunn, Kean DR - Sagado, Gunter, Emterton DL - Ridgewell, Givet, Olsson DC - Nelsen, Evans, Hanley, Givet, Ridgewell (add Samba to that if he is not sold) MR - Hoilett, Emerton, Ba ML - Olsson, Formica, Gamst, Ba DMC - Z'Zonzi, Gardner MC - McCarthy, N'Zonzi, Gardner, Gamst, Emerton, Lowe AMC - McCarthy, Hoilett, Formica ST - Defore, Ba, JR, Benjani In a 442 Robbo Salgado Samba Evans Ridgewell Hoilett Nzonzi Gardner Olsson Ba Defoe In a 433 Robbo Salgado Samba Evans Ridgewell Nzonzi Gardner Hoilett McCarthy/Formica Olsson Defore/Ba
nicko Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 As of five minutes ago NOBODY has reached the £16 million. Phil Jones won't be going for anything less.

callumrovers Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I think i know what will happen this summer if we dont sell Phil Jones or anyone else....We will sign two players who are young and foreign and spend arouund 5 million on them. Then we will get two loans for the season but expensive loans (Jones,Cruz) This is if no one gets sold though....

Why spoil it for all of us who are genuinely interested because of 1 or 2 idiots? Either regard stick from certain people as proof that you're on the right lines or put them on ignore.

den Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Well, the owners may have understandably thought that a 5 year contract with a £16m clause for a teenager with less than 50 games under his belt was a pretty sweet deal. I suspect Messrs Williams and Finn would have advised them that this indeed was the case. Now, in the fullness of time, £16m looks like an underestimate. This, of course, absolutely delights some on here although I suspect that you aren't one of them. I think you're dead right. The club never believed that anyone would pay £17m for Duff and that's why they were happy to include a get out clause. I guess that Venky's or Williams [whoever] thought no-one would be willing to pay £16m for Jones so soon, either. Whichever way I look at it, get out clauses aren't good. Look at Sunderland and Jordan Henderson. If reports are to be believed, then Liverpool are already at £20m and the deal is still in the hands of Sunderland. Compare that to our situation with Jones - £16m and it's out of our hands.
Blackburn Ravers Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I think you should. What is your problem, You can turn other peoples posts off if you do not like what they write, Not hard is it Derek
TimmyJimmy Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 If a team is ever to reach its targets - be it top 10, top 5, Champions, whatever - then it has to field a competitive team. The biggest clubs are big because not only do they buy the best prospects on the market but they also steal their opponents best players. On the one hand they strengthen themselves and on the other they weaken their oppos. It has always been this way and always will be. To break the cycle takes either loads of money like Jack had or you need the b*ll*cks to say NO we’re not selling. Our current team has lots of promise, a couple of jewels dropped into that mix will make us a really good team. Really good teams have a really good chance of competing at worse and winning things at best. IF we were winning things and paying commensurate wages then no player would want to leave us to win things elsewhere, yet under this current player abduction model we will never be able to offer even the prospect of winning stuff. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. A management team and ownership team who were serious about ‘going for it’ would not have allowed these release clauses to have been written and they would also say an outright NO to any poacher. If I’m to speculate then no heavyweight manager will come to manage for the Venkys and no top class player will come to play for Kean. We have then to grow organically by hanging on to our youngsters. Players just don’t go for no reason, it’s either money or trophies (or both). If they believe we can offer those then they’d stay. The names mentioned as leaving under previous regimes were all anomalies. Duffer and Chelsea - Abramovich came into football with all the money any man could possess, he offers record money for the transfer which Duffer gets a cut of, he offers massive wages, he offers the prospect of a whole team of equally talented players (two in every position) and assured trophies, who would say no given where we were at that time irrespective of who was managing us? Bellamy - famously headstrong and irascible, he goes where he wants when he wants, even last season he could have chosen from a good number of Premiership sides but where does he go, Cardiff. Again the quality of manager doesn't matter. Shearer to Newcastle - offer ANY Geordie the chance to play for his home club and its like a moth to a flame, they cannot resist, my most painful memory as a Rovers supporter this, I’ll never excuse it but I kind of understand it - still hate him for it though. In the main top players want to play for top managers, get one and pay them right and they are unlikely to leave. A rambling stream of consciousness but the bottom line is if we can build a winning team then no one needs to leave to win something. If we keep doing the same things though we’ll keep getting the same results. Keep Jones at all cost should have been the battle cry - unfortunately it seems we’ve shot ourselves in the foot (again). Hope to G*d we put a sell on clause into the contract of sale. Dalglish by the way is building another Blackburn 94/95 at Liverpool, he's doing all the same things as he did with us and his team will win the title very soon IMO.
Kenwoo Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Your info is very good...leave it at that...don't be shy. As of five minutes ago NOBODY has reached the £16 million. Phil Jones won't be going for anything less. That's fair enough, I suppose you're always going to get people who don't like what they hear. They certainly shouldn't spoil it for the rest of us. Good news on the Jones front though. I wonder who's gonna put their money where their mouth is.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 The information you posted was both timely and correct. Please don't clam up. Ignore those who choose to shoot from the mouth! I actually questioned Kenwoo re his assertion that Jerome Anderson recieved a huge fee for his work this summer. He suggested that his fee was astonishing using the sort of language that hints at something underhand going on. Of course, he then mentions that the club is under scrutiny because of it's links with Anderson. Still waiting for where he got this info from, I suspect I'll have a long wait. I'll continue to "shoot from the lip" as long as lies Masquerading as fact are posted on here, until certain people stop hiding behind "sources" or until banned. What is your problem, You can turn other peoples posts off if you do not like what they write, Not hard is it Derek Problem as per above. Go for your life Raver.

callumrovers Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Niko can you shed some light on any transfer rumours you have heard regarding Rovers? I think everyone could use some hopefully good news...
Torgeir Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 If the inevitable happens and Phil Jones leaves us at just 19 what would people prefer us to do, look at alternatives around those interested and get the best deal for our club or just take the £16m straight? Some of the part-ex options below: United – Gibson, Anderson, Wellbeck, M Diouf City – Boyata, SWP, Onouha, Bellamy, RSC Felipe Caicedo? Liverpool – No thanks Chelsea – Sturridge as part of the deal?? Kakuta Spurs – Bentley, Krancjar, Defoe, Bassong Must say Liverpool looks like the poorest option for our club….cant see too many wanting to spend a straight £16m cash on him, so we need to use our bargaining chip the best we can. Worries me that if we deal with City then they will take Jones for something like £10m + RSC….which id be gutted about!
Mercer Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Frankly miseryman I care vey little for your opinion. Feeling's mutual - just sit down and give your mind a rest!

I tend to believe Hughesy's argument of 5m per window plus an extra 5m this window= 10m plus whatever transfers we recieve. Thats a healthy budget to go shopping with in Spain and South America. Erik Lamela please Venkys.
ada2020 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Feeling's mutual - just sit down and give your mind a rest! Cheap and cheerfull retort, just what I would expect.
