I was hoping this might get resolved early. Perhaps not.

Are Man U that desparate to sign him that they will spend 16 million ? Jones is a quality player but in the short term he will be a squad player.

The worst scenario that I can see is that the player will be completely unsettled and it will drag on until August 31st.

So we will either be left with a player who won't be at his best because he wants to leave or 16 million quid and no time to spend it.

I am here thanks to a rather unexpected free period and thought that I would try to clarify the transfer situation.

Philipl actually posted this back in March but I have only just rediscovered it and verified it myself. Venkys have made a deposit of £20+ into Blackburn Rovers bank account. This was around the time that my worry about us going into administration was calmed. I know my posts over the past few months have seemed a little erratic but it is due to the fact that the decisions taken have been completely unpredictable. The situation changes on a daily basis. Whilst I confess that I do not have the Kentaro / Rovers based (Now Tom Finn has gone)contacts that Nicko does (Why would I? I'm a teacher) I do have some links to Venkys.

My current understanding is this:

Today, Steve Kean will be told that his transfer budget is £20,000,000 and this is before the sale of any players. Venkys will also apparently tell him that any money made through sales will be invested right back into the transfer budget. As you have worked out by now, if we sell Jones & Samba for £15,000,000 each, the result will be a £50,000,000 budget.

Although Steve Kean is a known PR disaster creator, I very much doubt that he would have spoken to the press about MONSTER BUDGETS if he had the usual five million.

This is incredibly exciting, although when they are paying five times their profit into the club, one does have to ask the question, where does the money come from?

If this doesn't come off then I'll be very disappointed but as I said, things change quickly. All I believe at the moment is that they have told him he has £20,000,000 which is why he is looking so damn smug at the moment.

Surely the "mystery budget" is nothing more than venkys looking at the market and saying we are guaranteed money from the samba/jones deals, here you go Mr.Kean go knock yourself out in the transfer Market?

Duff, Bellamy, Bentley and Santa Cruz all left for bigger things and they all got flak for it, now its Phil Jones and suddenly its the management's fault? Doesnt work like that.

Blame Venky's and Kean for this as much as you blamed Souness/Hughes/Walker Trust for letting the above players go..

Also, people are blaming Kean for not making the kid stay here an extra year? Why aren't you blaming Jones for not wanting to stay if he's such a loyal 'fan'?

If he wants to go then get shot. £16m plus whatever we had planned to spend beforehand will lead to 2/3 decent players in positions we badly need to fill.

Also just want to make the following points clear:

1. This is what I have heard from two reliable sources.

2. This is posted without an agenda.

3. It is (surprisingly) not anti-venkys. Although I am slightly worried about the source of the cash. Only in that I don't know where it has come from.

I understand, and as BPF has now clarified the situation this post is pretty irrelevant but, what I was getting at is this, Venkys could hand the dosh out now knowing they will sell jones and samba later and are not obliged to put any of the sale money back in. Effectively recouping the money the spend initially this month and next.

The club could have a budget not seen in a LONG time and we are sticking with Kean, I honestly cannot fathom why.

I still can't believe we gave him a new contract in January for more money AND a paltry 16m release clause in. If there was no release clause in his old contract we'd have been better off saving some money and not giving him a new contract at all.

I suppose the matter hinges around whether or not there was a lower release clause in his original contract which Andy Cryer is hinting at in his twitter feed.

Surely Rev the contract, wage and release clause would have been negotiated and agreed by Club, Player and Agent.

If Rovers had not agreed to the release clause then Jones could still be on his old contract with a couple of years left to run. I mean by this, demanding a £20m release clause when the player and agent are against it and refusing to sign.

He would therefore be worth a lot less than £16m being on his old terms and length of contract.

Hope this makes sense.

If Samba & Jones go I want the 2 brummy center halves bought as their replacements. Id love to see Adam here as well but I think he thinks hes on to bigger and better things (prob right as well). Our main focus needs to be a proven goal scorer more than anything else though. Not someone who needs time to adjust etc, someone who can come in at the ground running and banging them in left right and chelsea!!! kean also needs to get over to Canada ASAP with a nice chunky contract for Hoilett.

I would like all our transfer dealing done pretty quick as well rather than us all on here slating Kean and Venkys because we have not bought anyone yet. These actions will give me enough confidence to have some good banter with other fans when I go on my holidays at the end of July.

There is a pot available - it's just a matter of when you want to dip into it.

The £5 million extra per window is still a good guide. But if you thought there was someone who would make a difference you could 'advance' the next £5 million.

On top of that there is sales.

So the bottom line is that there is reasonable, sensible money.

But I would rather be talking about names than numbers.
