[Archived] Summer 2011 Transfer Window Part One

Recommended Posts

Also just want to make the following points clear:

1. This is what I have heard from two reliable sources.

2. This is posted without an agenda.

3. It is (surprisingly) not anti-venkys. Although I am slightly worried about the source of the cash. Only in that I don't know where it has come from.

Good caveat bpf.

Potentially excellent news.

Maybe balaji held up a bank with his cocked and loaded imported pistol. B)

There is a pot available - it's just a matter of when you want to dip into it.

The £5 million extra per window is still a good guide. But if you thought there was someone who would make a difference you could 'advance' the next £5 million.

On top of that there is sales.

So the bottom line is that there is reasonable, sensible money.

But I would rather be talking about names than numbers.

Do you have any names?

Noticed you wrote an article saying that Seb Larsson is prefering a move to sunderland over us at the mo. Which possibly rules out that transfer

Doesnt he fly out with the England lads today?

id assume he'd just get a latter flight. Another guy who works for lfctv saying he was there yesterday. I'm not gonna link its easy to find on twitter.

No hard feelings to Jones Liverpool are a bigger club and if he wants to play for England going to the big six is his best bet.

16 million is a lot of money for someone who's only played 30-40 games.

The club could have a budget not seen in a LONG time and we are sticking with Kean, I honestly cannot fathom why.

I am actually wondering - even though nothing to base it on - if that will be the case. Paul Hunt has now come from Leicester to Rovers. Leicesters manager SGE. It should not take Paul Hunt long to realise that Kean is not a good manager. It would not surprise me if he then recommends to venkys, SGE.

I am also wondering how Paul Hunt came into the frame in the first place - considering venkys admittable limited knowledge in football. Is he now paving the way for a new manager - with Kean as no2.

As I said nothing to base it on, just a thought.

Whilst I confess that I do not have the Kentaro / Rovers based (Now Tom Finn has gone)contacts that Nicko does (Why would I? I'm a teacher) I do have some links to Venkys.

So the information you have been posting on here in the past is from Tom Finn ?

Wow..not sure what to make of that.

Lets not get excited....Venkys are skint, they are only worth £200-300 million and only want to asset strip...its obvious!

Maybe you should wait and see what happens before crowing too loudly. If the money from any transfers isn't reinvested you may have to eat those words.

As Nicko has said a small transfer budget will be available, I do worry where that comes from as so far it all seems to be leveraged against the club and not Venky's. We will see what happens but until the deals are signed and sealed I don't envisage us spending anything like the money we should be this summer.

20m does sound like alot of dough, but it makes sense giving the smug Kean and quotes about the budget being the largest we have ever seen. The extra 5m must have been bluffing.

Jones looks like he's off to liverpool then, 16m good business.

So Mr Samba we are away to splash 40m in the transfer window, wanna stay till January at least?

I know that Jones is the best player to come through the youth ranks in quite a while but are we guilty of rating him a bit highly?

16mill is good money but he is only showing potential and promise at the moment. I personally think Jones is a good player but has he really done anything that special? Grabbed a game by the short and curlys and dominated?

Well, he was universally acclaimed as MoM in his first ever game aged 18 (just)! Was it against Chelsea? Can't remember now.

No, we are not guilty of rating him too highly at all and its going to break our hearts seeing him in a Liverpool shirt.

I have no faith that we'll be able to spend all the money from his sale or that we'll spend it wisely.

Therefore I'll think we'll start the season weaker than than we were last season and will be facing another relegation battle particularly if Samba goes too.

Sorry if it's wrong thread but my mate who is a journalist in Liverpool just emailed me to say that word has reached him that Phil Jones is having a medical at Liverpool.

It is henderson who has arrived not Jones.

Hello all,

I am here thanks to a rather unexpected free period and thought that I would try to clarify the transfer situation.

Philipl actually posted this back in March but I have only just rediscovered it and verified it myself. Venkys have made a deposit of £20+ into Blackburn Rovers bank account. This was around the time that my worry about us going into administration was calmed. I know my posts over the past few months have seemed a little erratic but it is due to the fact that the decisions taken have been completely unpredictable. The situation changes on a daily basis. Whilst I confess that I do not have the Kentaro / Rovers based (Now Tom Finn has gone)contacts that Nicko does (Why would I? I'm a teacher) I do have some links to Venkys.

My current understanding is this:

Today, Steve Kean will be told that his transfer budget is £20,000,000 and this is before the sale of any players. Venkys will also apparently tell him that any money made through sales will be invested right back into the transfer budget. As you have worked out by now, if we sell Jones & Samba for £15,000,000 each, the result will be a £50,000,000 budget.

Although Steve Kean is a known PR disaster creator, I very much doubt that he would have spoken to the press about MONSTER BUDGETS if he had the usual five million.

This is incredibly exciting, although when they are paying five times their profit into the club, one does have to ask the question, where does the money come from?

If this doesn't come off then I'll be very disappointed but as I said, things change quickly. All I believe at the moment is that they have told him he has £20,000,000 which is why he is looking so damn smug at the moment.

What a pity, a huge pot for the first time in years and Kean's the one to spend it.

Why can't he play for England if he's a Rovers player? Is the English game in such a horrible state?

Reading some of the scousers comments from various sites regarding Jones suggests it is, they have'nt even heard of him nor do they see the point in spending 16m on an unknown defender

If you read some of the message boards of the teams coming up you would believe we have been in the bottom 3 for the past ten years, being described as the usual relegation suspects and odds on favourites to go down next year.

The ignorance towards smaller clubs in the prem is ridiculous not to mention northern teams, you would think there were 3 teams north of London in the prem.

So if we spent 10million then we would have no money in January?, also Nicko do you think that Kean will receive all the money from player sales?

Yes.

Every last rupee.

You would not believe how tight the manager is with the owners...it's got stronger since he took over.

And, how shall I put this, they TRUST him with their money.

I think the whole Jones thing is premature and is just part of silly season.

I fully expect him to go, but for Rovers to just allow that to happen without even mentioning a bid is unfair on the fans, and would be PR suicide

There was speculation that not all the venkys are happy with Kean. Possible only a rumour, but.

I really wish you had'nt posted that BPF, it's certainly not in the best interest of Rovers who will now see prices hiked up for average players.....Not to mention the amount of foreign names that are going to be spouted about on here for months to come.

Kaka, Robinho, Neymar yes please.. ;):P

Kean brought in J.Jones, Rochina, Formica and Roque in January. Jones looked class, Rochina looks like a very tidy player and Formica is one for the future. Roque was a flop and Kean didn't play him.

Why are we all assuming Kean can't pick out players to buy? On the basis of January he didn't do too badly.

Good point, MMLP.

A bit of common sense on here stands out like a sore thumb! :rover:

IMO, there is a reason and if and when it emerges, many, many will be surprised.

As pointed out by GAV in the Steve Kean Thread. Would you not "trust" him with your money?

He's spent money on Rochina and Formica, one of whom looks very promising and the other is very much an unknown quality.

He's bought in J.Jones who was one of our star performers since January.

Roque was the only "gamble" that didn't come off.
