I honestly never thought he would choose to leave!

It's a sad day for football in general in my opinion.

If a home-grown and lifelong fan of the club has turned down the chance of a full season in the starting line-up to sit on the bench of a team he could walk into in a few years, there is no hope left whatsoever.

We should be proud to have produced such a talent but the fact he was from Blackburn will soon be long forgotten.

Apparently Phil Jones will sign for Man Utd today for cash £16m.

The money should be used to get Scott Parker, Roger Johnson, Seb Larsson and Demba Ba. And keep Samba at the club I hope!

Unfortunately none of those players will stop goals being scored against us quite like Jones.

He's one of those players that doesn't come around very often, and every time he's been out of the side we've struggled. If Samba goes, we're even more screwed.

Very disappointed.

£15 million for a very young, very talented player. These days that's pathetic.

So, do we now have a budget fornthis window of at least 20 million, at least we could get maybe 4/5 new faces in.

Yeah it will.

we need to sign a replacement centre back like Collins or Bassong.

A quality goalscorer and a target man

left back and right back

another winger if Hoilett is going to play up front

Come On Kean talk to the owners today and get us signing some quality playes PLEASE!!!

Can't say I'm surprised to hear that Jones is leaving. All these footballers mug the fans off. He's going for his big pay day at 19 or whatever he is. Can't give a few more years for a club who have trained him to be the player he is. Pathetic. I will boo him when he comes to Ewood. Don't care if people slag me off for that. I pay my hard earned money to the club, I can boo who I like.

Hope Kean brings in another decent centre half and bloods in Hanley.

Hello all,

I am here thanks to a rather unexpected free period and thought that I would try to clarify the transfer situation.

Philipl actually posted this back in March but I have only just rediscovered it and verified it myself. Venkys have made a deposit of £20+ into Blackburn Rovers bank account. This was around the time that my worry about us going into administration was calmed. I know my posts over the past few months have seemed a little erratic but it is due to the fact that the decisions taken have been completely unpredictable. The situation changes on a daily basis. Whilst I confess that I do not have the Kentaro / Rovers based (Now Tom Finn has gone)contacts that Nicko does (Why would I? I'm a teacher) I do have some links to Venkys.

My current understanding is this:

Today, Steve Kean will be told that his transfer budget is £20,000,000 and this is before the sale of any players. Venkys will also apparently tell him that any money made through sales will be invested right back into the transfer budget. As you have worked out by now, if we sell Jones & Samba for £15,000,000 each, the result will be a £50,000,000 budget.

Although Steve Kean is a known PR disaster creator, I very much doubt that he would have spoken to the press about MONSTER BUDGETS if he had the usual five million.

This is incredibly exciting, although when they are paying five times their profit into the club, one does have to ask the question, where does the money come from?

If this doesn't come off then I'll be very disappointed but as I said, things change quickly. All I believe at the moment is that they have told him he has £20,000,000 which is why he is looking so damn smug at the moment.

So now we have got 35 million pounds to spend NOW! Kean has to spend big in the summer. Hope his meeting today with the meeting is about saying that nobody ELSE will be sold unless he is not required by the manager and who we will be SIGNING this summer. Plus the new contract for Hoilett and the PERMANENT signing of Jermaine Jones.

15m! It's getting even worse!

Nicko, as we're letting him go for such a snip of a fee, is there any indication as to whether whether we have a hefty sell on clause of our own?

rev, this is rovers that we are talking about, such common sense in tranfers activity does not enter into their discussions.

bearing in mind too that junior has not signed an extension to his current deal, which has only 12 months to run. it is just another turn of the wheel that is the systematic destroying of our club. (Please don't use that word again)off you pricks, just (Please don't use that word again)off and go and lie your arses off somewhere else.

Would be happy with either Collins from Villa or Bassong from Spurs as a replacement for Jones, probably both would be realistic, looks more like Dann will go to a top 6 side. Johnson would be good from birmingham but maybe over priced. If we could get either Collins or Bassong for around the 5million mark and JJ for around 4/5million that would leave us with 10million still for up top.

£50m? I'll believe it when we spend it!

Trouble is Kean will probably use it all on J Jones, MB Diouf and Santa Cruz.

It's vital that I'm proved wrong on this and we bring in some quality.

Says to me that Kean is not involved in transfers...

What input would our manager have on an outgoing transfer for what appears to be an all cash deal?

Why can't he play for England if he's a Rovers player? Is the English game in such a horrible state?

Yes. It's been this way for years and much more so since the introduction of the Champions League money.

"He/I want to play in the Champions League" Is just a load of old paper talk and ######. Phil Jones will likely have doubled and even trebled his money. BUT if MU had come in and said "sign for us and you'll play every season in the CL but we are only going to pay you half what you are on at the Rovers" then he'd still be here.

Has the board been down for six hours? Couldn't get on.

Anyway.

Just one question...

When did Fergie meet Phil Jones? Because Fergie has been in France on holiday since Friday.

Jones only told Rovers he was interested in going on Monday. And went to see the OTHER clubs in the race in a whirlwind tour. Pretty sure he didn't meet Fergie between Monday and this morning.

The timing of that summit may yet be interesting to discover ;)

Makes you think, doesn't it?

from what BPF was saying more like 35 million now Robbie.

we need to spend at least 15 million on 2 striker plus a replacement for Jones aswell as the signing JJ plus right back and left back.

should be a busy summer for Rovers and Kean
