[Archived] Summer 2011 Transfer Window Part One

To be fair, most people who knew about the alleged January deal didn't know whether or not it was against his will. They mainly claimed a deal had been done in principal, before he was injured.

And to be fair Glenn I could throw in a few names of those that were happy to suggest it was against his will and were more than happy to let it be believed by anyone that read it.

It's not the players who are at fault, nor is it the respective clubs it's the entire Prem / CL set up which has rendered every European league into an uncompetative sham, a carbon copy of the shambolic Scotish set up which is completely at odds to the best interests of 80% of every nations football fans. [/b] We have been herded around by the media money men just like so many sheep.

Spot on. Competition in England's top division died the day the Premier League was founded - from then on the entire set up was designed to funnel huge sums to the cartel of top clubs, and it's been a never-ending cycle of greed, a joyless procession to see which of 2 or 3 clubs win the league, and an ever widening gap between the big 4 and everyone else ever since. Other major leagues in Europe looked on, and followed the same lead. The only exception has been the Bundesliga, which has remained as competitive as ever, while keeping ticket prices low and attendances high - for me the model the rest of Europe should be trying to emulate.

The European Cup has been destroyed by the Champion's League, a competition designed to serve the same Europe-wide set of big clubs and guarantee that they always progress to the latter stages and reap the big money.

The UEFA cup has become a hindrance that many clubs would rather do without, and the Cup Winners' Cup is no more.

FIFA, UEFA and the Premier League have a lot to answer for IMO.

The potential incoming player from Manure is NOT MBD although there is clearly others that have linked him as part of the deal with Jones. The player in question is a very good associate of MGP. Rovers are NOT the only club in for that player and it is NOT Wes Brown or Johnny Evans.

Joshua King?

Would rather have the £16m instead of £13 million and a United reject.

Venky's PR reckon that signing Roque is a top priority. Dear oh dear. My big fear is Jones transfer money is going to be wasted.

Pete!

I'm trying to ignore the fact that they see him as a marquee signing! :(
