Lost credibility?

I don't remember being wrong on anything so far?

BPF - I think that you are a great asset to this MB but don't think you quite got it right with the "Venky love-in" back in Jan., however, keep it coming.

Samba going would not suprise many I dont think - he has been making noises now for 18 months....its just key that IF we sell him, and another big IF he doesnt have a clause - that we hold out for what WE want.

Hoilett is the key to keep this summer.

Good luck to Jones. He may turn out to be as good a buy for United as David May.

17 million at the start of the window is better than at the end of the window. Kean will succeed or fail by how he uses the money. Unfortunately so will we. RSC is not a must have and unfortunately with money in our pockets clubs like Man City wont accept us pleading poverty. Keep a clear head Kean and dont go splashing the cash on someone daft. that would be a waste of the Jones investment.

Put yourself in Hoilett's shoes.

Already, your are half minded to go and then you see two of your colleagues go to Manure and Arsenal.

IMO, a no brainer!

Fair enough, I was tricked on that one. Someone from Venky's PR company told me they were about to announce a partnership with Barcelona and a new shirt sponsor that would take he club to a whole new level.

Losing 2 good centre backs is disappointing but it isn't a disaster. Especially when we have money to replace them. We are NOT favorites to go down next season by any means, thats just adding to unnecessary doom and gloom. On that topic, Bolton, in my opinion are absolutely shot to bits next season. No, Sturridge, Probably no Cahill, No Elmander and Just Kevin Davies up front... I really would be worrying if i were a Wanderer so... It could be worse!

Potential Targets?:

Ciani

Armand Traore

Wollschied

Vagner Love

Keane

Caciedo

Jo

Podolski (Yes, ambitious!)

Bassong

Bellamy

Bentley

Krankjar

Would suggest one out of four. Rochina is untested in PL as is Formica! Rochina's skills can be found by the dozen everyday on the beaches in Spain.

This doesn't mean much Coming from the guy who often told us all Jermaine jones was poor.

I'm struggling to have any optimism while there is no news on Hoillet. This was, according to Kean, the priority and 3 weeks later nothing is happening. With us rudderless and with a novice manager the big clubs are going to see us as easy pickings if we don't get sorted soon.

Ciani- YES PLEASE

Armand Traore - MEH

Wollschied - NO IDEA WHO HE IS

Vagner Love - YES PLEASE, COST??

Keane - NO

Caciedo - MAYBE

Jo - PROBABLY

Podolski (Yes, ambitious!)- YES PLEASE

Bassong - PERFECT FOR US, WE SHOULD HAVE BID IF WE HAVENT ALREADY, I RATE HIM HIGHLY

Bellamy - NO

Bentley - YES

Krankjar - YES PLEASE

I agree losing jones and samba would be awful, but signing up Hoilett is the most important signing we could make

Some of my suggestions

Nathaniel Clyne-Palace

Bonucci-Juventus

Bassong-Spurs

Lamela-River plate

Jones-Schalke

Adam-Blackpool

Cole-Liverpool

Diego-Wolfsburg

Bentner-Arsenal

Defoe-Spurs

Cardozo-Benfica

Gilardino-Fiorentina

Ba-West Ham

Horeau-PSG

Bassong is a great shout but you have to suspect Spurs will pice him well above his value. I would say about 6m is right but I expect Spurs will be looking for ten....

Krankjaer I would only go if Hoilett is leaving. Sadly with Jones going and Samba on his way it might just be a matter of time...

Rovers after Villa James Collins as replacement for Jones

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3626790/Phil-Jones-16m-arrival-sparks-Man-Utd-spree.html

it's at the bottom of the article.

If Samba leaves, then we will should move Bassoong. I wouldn't want to lose Samba at all. He is a Rovers Legend! He is/was a Great Player for us since he signed for £400,000. Looking back now, it was great business by Hughes and the club.

Next season centre backs will be Collins, Nelsen, Bassong and Hanley. Maybe Givet if Kean seem him playing there. I would be happy with them 4/5 next season, but would be even more happy if Samba stays at Rovers

BPF the three things you stated last night were that the Jones deal needed another medical, that it wasn't a cash only deal as we wanted a player and that the bad news was us missing out on Larsson.

Has any of that actually been confirmed yet? I know there were people listening to radio lancs who were 'supposed' to have confirmed the failed medical who said it was never reported.

You probably think I've got it in for you or something, I really haven't let me make that clear. I am just a little worried that you're being taken for a mug by your sources. I think you've always posted honestly with what you've been told, I don't doubt that for 1 minute.

Thanks Ricky, all that you have posted are indeed genuine concerns. The obvious difference between myself and someone like Nicko is that being a teacher and not a journo, my BS sensor in this field is not as strong as it is when listening to excuses for not doing homework.

Just one thing though. I don't think that it is out of the realms of possibility that Jones was given a second medical. I had expected it to be all wrapped up last night. Also, I'm happy that it's a cash only deal.

Villa fans actually rate him pretty highly. He's been their main CB when they've been finishing in the top half of the table for the last few seasons.

Personally I'd rather look at someone a little younger. Always been impressed with Mills at Reading when I've seen him play. Should get Kebe as well if we're looking at him.

Now it looks like we may have some real money to spend on a forward we should push the boat out for cordoza.

The other one who looked like a decent prospect last year was pentacote(sp?). he was the French lad who got injured.

Just checked and pentacote is fit again. Scored 2 on the last game of the season when he played 90 minutes for the first time this year. Definitely one to look at.

Collins and Upson in, Vagner Love and Cardozo and Krankjar and J Jones. that's all I want for now. ill defend Upson, and on a free it frees up cash for other key areas.

If we could keep Samba we wouldn't actually need to buy another centre-back--Samba, Givet,Nelsen and Hanley is good enough for our modest ambitions provided we strengthen elsewhere--particularly left-back.

Trouble is we are not likely to keep Samba and could lose Givet as well which would leave our defence in tatters. And it was the defence which kept us up.

Should we lose Junior as well, presumably on the cheap because there's only 1 year left on his contract, we are surely doomed.

I have no faith in Venkys or Kean to acquire the right players to give us a squad as strong as last season's and we only avoided relegation with them on the last day.

As an example, Daily Telegraph link us with Joe Cole (see below)----wrong side of 30, nothing left to prove, a complete flop at Anfield. Add the likes of Miles Anderson and anyone on a free and I really fear for our future. P***ing away the Jones/Samba money is so likely.

Same Telegraph article states that we offered Jones 65000 quid a week to stay and he went to Manure for 50000. Bit of a joke aren't we?
