JONES...not announced yet because there are some factors to finalise...not medical...this may yet have an ugly side...no swaps either

Cant even imagine how it can have an ugly side if it isnt down to medical?!

Fergie's turned up and is trying to get him on the cheap.

Nothing more ugly than Alex Ferguson shafting you.

Ugly side? To who? Only ugly side effect to this is a) he will be loaned out to Bolton, or B) it means Olsson/Hoilett also wants to go.

Hint please?

Yes, the sun is about to shine at lunchtime...

SAMBA...you have to play hard ball...I am not sure Arsenal will pay what you will look for...there is a lot of stamping of feet here...the shock is Arsenal want TWO centre halves...so this one has a way to run.

INCOMING...no word...but that can't continue for long.

Can you say more about the 'possible' ugly side of this transfer.

Or tapping Jones up, which seems to have has clearly happened here, allegedly.

gotta feeling that the ugly side is that fergie wont pay the 16 million that rovers are holidng out for

Then he comes back here until Fergie pays the cash, he's our player and we dictate terms, don't we?

Exactly, if we roll over and take anything less than his release clause it would be an absolute disgrace.

If you don't want to pay £16 million, stop wasting everyones time.

"Undisclosed amount" anyone?

We are already bending over by selling him for £16m when he will be worth twice that in a year or two. A payment in installments will make our job even harder to bring in the players we need for next season. The clause is there Fergie, £16m up front and not a penny less. If you don't like it you can (Please don't use that word again) off.

In the same way I can't class Rochina and Formica as a success, you can't count them as a failure.

So out of Jones and Roque, he's made 1 quality signing and the other was a risk that I personally, and I know a lot of fans that share this view, thought would come off. It didn't. We're not in the hands of The Trust anymore where such mistakes will kill us financially, so it's not really a HUGE failure as some make it out to be.

I mentioned Ince as he was one of our previous managers that made mistakes, along with Sam, Hughes and Souness.

The point is you did class Rochins/Formica as quality signings! You said we could trust Kean in the transfer market because he'd made 3 good signings out of 4! Anyway I'm pleased to see we now agree!

But you still trust him?

Sadly in circumstances such as these where the player has been unsettled, the selling club tends to give in.

Unless you have a bulldog of a chairman like Ken Bates, or a bulldog of a manager like Brian Clough.

It's about time we played hard ball, other clubs do it all the time, yet we always seem to just lube up and bend over. I'm sick of it.

It would an absolute outrage if the lad has a medical, agrees terms then the buying club decide they don't want to pay the asking price. Surely that has to be classed as tapping up of the highest order?

If they don't hit the release clause, we don't sell. Should be black and white.

Where?

There is no reason not to trust him 47er. I've given my reason as to why I trust him. You haven't given yours.

Before you do say the RSC signing, I'll say again, it was a gamble 7/8 of 10 people would have taken. Unfortunately it did not come off. We didn't suffer because of it.

The lad has a 5 year contract. If Man U tried to low ball us we'd just take the deal off the table and put him in the reserves until he stopped sulking.

A lot of people are missing the point here from both sides of the argument. Formica and Rochina aren't exactly flops, but they were no use for the relegation dogfight. So for last season they weren't successful signings, they didn't strengthen the team at all. However we may see the best of them yet and they may turn out to be successful.

I agree with that. But it was poor judgement because at the time we needed players to make an immediate impact as we were fighting for our lives. Only 1 out of 4 did make that impact.

Structured payments and add ons!!

We all know things can change in deals like this one, but Nicko and Cryer? Have both stated it’s a straight cash deal at 16m, so hopefully that remains the case.
