Blue n White Rover Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Are you barking? We needed a creative mid-fielder TO PLAY IMMEDIATELY We signed 2 who couldn't. Olsson. Jones. Nzonzi. Hoillet. Is that not a good enough midfield? Credit to Steve Kean for giving Hoillet the opportunity and signing J.Jones on loan. If anything, out strike force was crying out for help. He tried to sort it out by RSC but failed to do so.

You've dodged the point I made but never mind. We have lacked a creative central mid-fielder ever since Bentley left years ago. Ollson is a winger and Hoilett does his best work from the flanks. Both Jones J and N'zonzi are holding players essentially doing the same job of breaking up attacks. That's it, you have it to yourself now. You have faith in Kean, I have not and nor do the majority of fans judging by the comments I hear and read here and elsewhere.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 We needed a solid, ball winning midfielder more than a creative midfielder. You take J.Jones out of the side that played between March and May and we wouldnt have stayed up. A creative mid was needed but wasn't as much of a priority. Kean has the money to spend now and he will be given the chance to spend it. Whatever your opinions of the man are, the next 2 months will prove whether he can find decent players or not. He brings in more Rochina's and J.Jones's then I have no problems. I feel a CB and a left back may be more of a priority now for some reason.

rog of the rovers Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Hoillet's Rovers career was going nowhere fast until Kean gave him an extended run.
Kenwoo Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I still think it's bonkers we're not going for Kranjaer. He would be for us what Arteta has been for Everton over the years. J Jones is a priority as is a goalscorer but I think Kranjaer would change games for us.
Hughesy Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Attack/ Midfield please..... ---------------J Jones------------ ---Hoilett----------------Olsson-- --------------Krancjar------------ ------Demba Ba-----Sturridge------
PAFELL Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Not yet. There is evidence being gathered about an aspect of the deal that may have one or two people involved ducking for cover. I am talking about how Man U have gone about it... Leave it there for now. Not probing further - you can confirm or not later - but I suggest it involves Sam and fergy Attack/ Midfield please..... ---------------J Jones------------ ---Hoilett----------------Olsson-- --------------Krancjar------------ ------Demba Ba-----Sturridge------ Be happy with that. But would also want Bentley back and try for Adams as well. (sent you PM)
Mc Love Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Was phil jones seen at the u21 european championships signing united jerseys or is it a load of bull
J*B Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Was phil jones seen at the u21 european championships signing united jerseys or is it a load of bull Just been on SSN
Mc Love Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Really and it hasnt even been confirmed that the sale has gone through??
Biddy Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Odd statements from Stuart Pearce if you read Sky Sport's article about Henderson and Jones sky In one statement he states the 2 players signed and sealed before joining the squad and then when pushed on it he says he has no idea but the players are at training and happy.
Blue n White Rover Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 OK this is my last shot at getting through, then I give up. You've dodged the point I made but never mind. Bentley used to play majority of the times on the right hand side, giving in crosses to RSC and often drift in to the middle. He was never a creative midfielder. He was a right sided midfielder. Hoillet has now taken up that position and supplies our attackers and like Bentley, drifts in and switches flanks.
Kenwoo Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Looks like we've missed out on Larsson. I'd love us to make an audacious move for N'Zogbia. But we won't.
LeChuck Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Attack/ Midfield please..... ---------------J Jones------------ ---Hoilett----------------Olsson-- --------------Krancjar------------ ------Demba Ba-----Sturridge------ We would get brutally pounded every single game with that team. Jones can't be responsible for winning a midfield battle on his own. We saw the disastrous results of a midfield diamond last season. Both Demba Ba and Sturridge can play left wing, so this might work... Salgado . Samba .. Givet.. Olsson ............. Jones ...... N'Zonzi .. Hoilett ...... Krancjar .... Sturridge .......................... Ba We'd give ourselves a chance of having the ball at least.
davulsukur Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Attack/ Midfield please..... ---------------J Jones------------ ---Hoilett----------------Olsson-- --------------Krancjar------------ ------Demba Ba-----Sturridge------ Dont bring back the Diamond , but i do agree we should defo be trying to sign Niko Kranjcar
roversnick Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 but i do agree we should defo be trying to sign Niko Kranjcar i'm sure kalinic will recommend us
Roverite28 Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Jones sitting infront of the back 4? Did you watch him for the 6 months he was here? Nzonzi is a sitter, Jones is a box to box player. If you tie him down to covering the back 4 your loose half of what made him sparkle here.
modes98 Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Looks like we've missed out on Larsson. I'd love us to make an audacious move for N'Zogbia. But we won't. Sunderland have made a move and have space now in their squad. We are too slow as normal, should have wrapped it up by now. N'Zogbia is over paid and over rated.
mark1875 Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Was phil jones seen at the u21 european championships signing united jerseys or is it a load of bull yes he was, i seen it a few times with my own eyes, it keeps repeating it
PAFELL Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Sunderland have made a move and have space now in their squad. We are too slow as normal, should have wrapped it up by now. N'Zogbia is over paid and over rated. And our imitation manager is in India.
Hughesy Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Yes perhaps the formation is not the best but im just thinking how to put Hoilett & Olsson in there, but still keep 2 strikers (as kean said thats the plan) - with the players i suggested.
Kenwoo Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Sunderland have made a move and have space now in their squad. We are too slow as normal, should have wrapped it up by now. N'Zogbia is over paid and over rated. I've always been a fan. I just want someone with a deadly final ball.
LeChuck Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Yes perhaps the formation is not the best but im just thinking how to put Hoilett & Olsson in there, but still keep 2 strikers (as kean said thats the plan) - with the players i suggested. If you were wanting two up front and all those attacking players accommodated, then the only option is to have Olsson at left back. Salgado Samba Givet Olsson Hoilett Jones N'Zonzi Krancjar Ba Sturridge That's a bit of a waste of Krancjar's talents, although I believe it is actually his favourite position. I suppose with Olsson overlapping he would have the freedom to cut inside on a regular basis. I really want us to stick with that 4-5-1/4-4-1-1 we were using at the back end of last season though. I don't think we need two out-and-out strikers.
LeftWinger Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I know someone who works at Wigan and is fairly well known in the game and he described N'Zogbia as the most obnoxious man in football. One to avoid.
