I do wish people would drop Sturridge from their wishlists/line ups. We have no chance of signing him, even on loan.

After his performances at Bolton last season he will be staying at Chelsea, and if he does leave it will be to a bigger team than us.

We would get brutally pounded every single game with that team. Jones can't be responsible for winning a midfield battle on his own. We saw the disastrous results of a midfield diamond last season.

Both Demba Ba and Sturridge can play left wing, so this might work...

Salgado . Samba .. Givet.. Olsson

............. Jones ...... N'Zonzi

.. Hoilett ...... Krancjar .... Sturridge

.......................... Ba

We'd give ourselves a chance of having the ball at least.

If we have that line up, with that players, then forget relegation, bring on Europe. Easy! :rover:

Why?

Torres, Drogba, Anelka, Kalou are all currently way before him…..if he doesn’t get a guarantee of 1st team football (which im sure he won’t) then he may well look to move on.

I know Warnock is not the most popular player around here, but if we could snatch him up for a small fee I would gladly take him back. He is PL proven and I believe he could partner up nicely with Olsson on the left side. Givet could then focus on being a central defender.

Its not so much the losing of Jones or Samba individually - its if we lose them both and the trouble of having to replace them.

It will rip a large hole in the backbone of our team (something I believe in being the most important in a set up) - it would be like losing a vertebra and will cause collapse without adequate similar replacement or even better (more money)player.

I think the value for Samba at 12M is ridiculous as he is worth far more than that to Rovers - and finding an instant gelling partnership to fill the gap would take time.

However likely Nelsen is to fill the gap we would still be left with a gaping hole -either at lb should Givet (if still her) move into CB - where we need cover/new player now anyway.

The worry as per many is how the money if available would be spent (and who would come given star players leaving) - and given the targets we appear to be linked with - doesn't tie up with the hype of the Venkys top 10 finish, along with the none confidence in the imposter.

How anybody can venture that January was a success in terms of buying is beyond me, as I am not one for buying for the future( as I posted in January) - and neither are we a team/club that can do this at this moment in time considering that we need investment for the first 11 if the 'forecast and prophecy' of the chicken mob is to fulfill its expectations.

The only thing I can hold faith to - is that we have done it before (albeit with seemingly better suited and knowlegeable hierarchy) - no reason why we can't again.

Perfect time for the chicken run to hatch and prove their worth, and for the clown to make the circus audience raise to give a standing ovation.

Drogba and Anelka are on their last legs. Sturridge will get his chance if he's patient.

What is this bullshit about Jones signing United jerseys? He is still a Rover for pete's sake.

Definitely done it – just seen it on Sky Sports News.

Not impressed but the act of a naive, young player who clearly doesn't care that his deal hasn't gone through yet.

A real Rovers fan. Not.

New manager will want more signings, Abromovich seems to be rebuilding them, so I expect he will soon be 4th or 5th choice again, even if both of those 2 leave.

Don't blame him for leaving. Work collegue is friends with his family apparently a loan back to us could be on the cards. And as regards to signing shirts I don't think it's a big deal if Im honest, he is their new signing afterall, I wish him all the best.

Didn't Nicko tell us that Larsson to Rovers was a done deal??

Larsson wanted to go to Rovers in January when he was seen as an important signing. He was on the wish list from the moment of the takeover.

I was told by a trusty Swedish chum that he was going to sign - whether Birmingham sold him in January or he left for nothing in the summer.

Since then there has been some surprisingly big interest in Larsson and he is basically being offered more dough elsewhere. I don't think Rovers are AS keen as they were too.

So you are still in the hunt, but not exactly beating down his door.

Always felt you could do better...just don't know who that is yet.
