It's all from some guy on twitter who has a 'good source'. Earlier, he reported that Arsenal had missed out on Phil Jones, who was going to Liverpool. I'd be upset if we let Chris go for that little, but no point getting upset about it yet.

If Samba goes for anything less than £20m, I'm going to be so angry. We should be looking for upwards of £25m really.

He's our captain, our best player, and recently signed a 5 year deal. It would be incompetence like I've never seen before in football to let him go for anything like £9m.

Urgh I'd hate to lose both Jones and Samba, but I've already resigned to the fact.

To be honest, I understand Phil Jones leaving in terms of the bigger picture of his career etc. However, I am very disappointed that he didn't stay on for another year or two where he could have really developed himself with a guaranteed place in the first team, especially considering that we are 'apparently' his team.

Sadly, if a self-professed fan of the club has no intention of staying at the club, then where does that leave the state of English football? The only way in which any equilibrium can be restored is if the fans turn their backs on their clubs, but that's not going to happen is it because we all love the Rovers, win, rain or shine......the future looks very scary.

Regarding the deal itself, I am actually one of the few who believe we got a good amount of money for someone who has only played 35 games for the club. Sure, he has the potential to be a great defender but he's not there yet and he only showed that in glimpses at Rovers. I would actually suggest that with the money we have got, reinvested wisely, it will ultimately lead to a stronger squad next season which is what we need in order to be able to continue to grow.

Alongside the imminent departure of Jones is Samba. Now I am one of many who believed some of his performances in the second half of last season were exceptional, especially considering he had wanted to leave the club. However, if he wants to leave, I say let him go. I would rather not have an unhappy player at the club to be honest and I would gladly accept £12 million, again provided the money is reinvested wisely.

My last point regards Rovers as a club, in general, and some of the fans who are completely deluded and do not realise that we are always going to be at a disadvantage as long as the current systems remain in place. And by that, I refer to the enormous pots of cash offered to the very few teams at the top of the game. Some of the comments such as 'selling again...I hate Venky's' or 'they're bleeding the club dry and cashing in' are ridiculous. Rovers have always been a selling club (even during the glorious years of the mid-nineties) and that will never end. The challenge is to continue to develop even more players and eventually the club will grow organically and take care of itself (as it is arguably continuing to do so, with the sale of Jones - of course you have to be an optimist to see this).

As much as I have been bemused by some of the recent goings-on at Ewood, I am certainly in favour of Kean wanting to develop more and more players and to grow the club organically, from the inside. Sure, we will sell of these players as time goes by, but the only way to compete as a club like Rovers, is to dig in and produce more and more players and continue to better your last success with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and determination, even though we're always up against it. That has always been the Blackburn way and long may it continue because that's what makes me proud to be a Rover.

It is not inconceivable - (given that Arsenal must have met the release clause for Jones to talk to Wenger) that an offer was put in for Samba once Jones turned them down.

Cheers SuperCat, it's only my point of view and i'm sure many other people have differing views. At the end of the day though, i'll still have a season ticket next season and turn up throughout the country, proudly wearing the famous blue and white halves. In fact, whatever happens actually makes no difference to me although it would be nice if we actually spent a few quid this summer.

Just for argument's sake, we already have a ready-made replacement for Jones in Grant Hanley. His performances in the reserves last season were immense, he could have comfortably played for a top championship team on a regular basis. Given a run in the first team, it won't be long before we're flogging him for twenty million (just thinking of inflation!). Anyone who watches the reserves will know why I speak so highly of him.
