OJRovers Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 To be fair to Hanley he's probably as good as most centre backs for his age, it's usually a position where players hit their peak in the late 20s. We've just been lucky to see a proper unique talent like PJ which he's being compared against.

67splitscreen Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Everton want to sign NZogbia for £9m....but need to sell 1st One we should be ALL OVER!! FREE agent BA - wants £75k a week Spunking 75kpw on someone who has a medical problem, sorry hughsey the crock room is full to bursting.
TugaysMarlboro Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Rovers wanted Johnson from BC for 10 million http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2001801/Blackburn-want-10m-Roger-Johnson-replace-Phil-Jones.html Haha, "valued nearer to £14m" - I'd want both their Centre Halves for that amount.
Ferrit Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I liked the idea of Johnson, but 10 million?? Seems a tad steep.
Mercer Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 right back from called Serge Aurier from Lens. I think somebody on here mention him before on here http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Blackburn-transfer-news-Lens-defender-Serge-Aurier-a-target-as-club-face-losing-Phil-Jones-Chris-Samba-article746024.html Unless Salgado has suddenly developed acute gout, this must be another one for the future ala Rochina, Formica, FFS, we need to deal with the present!!!!! Rovers hope Samba will stay with spending spree IMO, signing RSC will just confirm our status as a laughing stock and easy touch. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Blackburn-transfer-news-Rovers-plan-26m-spree-to-convince-Samba-not-join-Arsenal-are-eyeing-Birmingham-duo-Johnson-Dann-Aston-Villa-Collins-also-re-sign-Jermaine-Jones-Santa-Cruz-article746008.html
chaddyrovers Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I would offer 8 million for Johnson. Think Liverpool will move for Dann in the next week
Hughesy Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Hughesy you want to make a crock our highest paid player? He wants 75k (initial demands) - im sure we could get him down to £60k or possibly less....Everton wont go that high. - On a 4 year deal thats an outlay of just over £12m, MOST other players of decent quality are going to cost us £7m+ and thats before you give them a contract. Spunking 75kpw on someone who has a medical problem, sorry hughsey the crock room is full to bursting. Thats up to the medical team at Ewood to decide, not Stoke. He did fine at West Ham. Dont forget there is no fee. He has only just turned 26 so we can no doubt sell him on in a couple of years for a fee too - success or not.
chaddyrovers Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 How much would J Jones cost? probably 6 million. Collins would cost 5 or 6 million pounds Johnson would cost 10 million if you believe the DM Larrson free Serge Aurier 3 million Rsc would cost 2 or 3 million. the spending spree with the johnson signing would cost 21 or 22 million with the Collins signing would 18 million so, we could have 4 to 8 million pounds to spend on another striker with pace and a left back. maybe more with sales of some fringe players.
Mercer Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 A key point is that you just cannot bring in half a dozen players and expect them to gel. It takes enormously skillful management to identify and integrate the right mix and I'm not sure that Stephen Kean has the nous to do that. Jones is going, Samba looks like following and odds are that Hoilett will be another. The heartbeat and verve will have been ripped out of our side. This is not Football Manager and would be an enormous challenge for even the most experienced and talented of managers.
Wilko Rover Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Get set for another rollercoaster. That picture is incredibly creepy!!!
BPF Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Got some news? Sadly I have little credibility left so I'm going to enjoy the ride with the rest of you. We support Blackburn Rovers, I think that it is a given that it is going to be a rollercoaster is a given.
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I liked the idea of Johnson, but 10 million?? Seems a tad steep. Way overpriced. £6-£7mil tops. No value in any of Birminghams players. What about Gabriel Heinze? - 33 now, available on a free, can play left back and centre back. Plenty of prem experience and seems to have a great attitude. Would be a good "squad" addition whilst we bring through Hanley
beanie Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Get set for another rollercoaster. Could you not just say what you know?
47er Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Jones sitting infront of the back 4? Did you watch him for the 6 months he was here? Nzonzi is a sitter, Jones is a box to box player. If you tie him down to covering the back 4 your loose half of what made him sparkle here. Jones is popular(and rightly so) for his covering and his tackles. When he wins the ball, he lays it off much as N'zonzi does. "Box to box" in his case means he runs around a lot----like Savage did. It does not make him a creative central mid-fielder. If you think he is one, point me to the end product. How many goals did he score? How many killer balls did he tread through to split the defence? How many assists? We have not had a creative central mid-fielder since Bentley left and we still don't. N'zonzi and Jones are great at what they do but neither do that. We need that special element.
Torgeir Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 You might not always be right BPF but I for one value your input. What I don't like is Philipl's Maltese proverb which you sometimes use: "We're in sh1t city but I'm not at liberty to tell why" Quote above might not be direct

A cracking player in the right environment, and the big clubs would be put off by his failure at Spurs when he did come back to form....
Mercer Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Just been talking to a London based colleague who's an avid Arsenal supporter. He reckons the Samba deal is 'done' @ £10m as Wenger is convinced Cahill is off to City. Also said that the speculation down there is that Rovers are in again for Fulham's Dempsey.
Andy Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Sadly I have little credibility left so I'm going to enjoy the ride with the rest of you. Quite the opposite - from the sounds of it, you're one of very few who seems to actually know what's going on and doesn't mind sharing, despite the abuse you get for it
OsloRover Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Phil Jones deal hits snag: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/927133/phil-jones-valued-by-rovers-at-L25m,-not-L16m-?cc=5739
BuckyRover Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Jones valued at £25million by Rovers. I would love it if that is true. Love it
47er Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Is there anyone at the club? Maybe that's why Jones deal hasn't gone through! Every time Utd ring up to ask where's the paperwork a recorded message tells them their call is important to us!
