okay so todays news is that Jones is not sold yet, and rovers want around £25m for him, thats really good news!

Samba will NEVER leave for less than £15m for sure.... I believe Spurs, Pool, Man City and Arsenal all want him and it will be a bidding war.

Pardon my ignorance...

If Phil Jones has a release clause of 16m shouldnt the only way for Pool or anyone to logically hijack the deal be to offer 16mill (and not a penny more) but offer him better terms ?

Like a reserve price in an auction house. If you don't meet the reserve you've no chance. all those prepared to meet at least the reserve price get to bid further to see who gets the lot. I'd love it to be true if only to throw it back at the school caretaker who, when i came in dripping wet having trekked 5 or 6 miles across fields in the pouring rain with 23 Year 9s, delighted in yelling at me across a crowded dining hall "Your boy, Jones, has gone to Utd for 16 mill"

Good old Len, I had some banter with him!

This years transfers seem to be starting very early, it is all a knock on effect! Let the craziness begin!

Scenario: Jones breaks his leg against Spain, who looses what? We need this fiasco sorted as soon as possible.

Johnson or Dann?

Not yet.

There is evidence being gathered about an aspect of the deal that may have one or two people involved ducking for cover.

I am talking about how Man U have gone about it...

Leave it there for now.

Is this clause thing - £16 mill allows you to talk PJ - but not sign him - what you were refering too yesterday?

Or is it all cr@p

What are people's opinions on Joseph Yobo, id personally thought he was always very under rated at everton and one of the most consistent centre backs in the league. he was on loan at Fenerbache last season and they want him for around 2.5 million. great price for an experienced defender with over 70 caps for his country, he would be my first choice centre back to replace Jones and possibly Samba.

Can't see this being true, too good to be true if so, and very sly/ clever if we have done that!!

The danger in doing things such as that, if it really did occur, is that it would be seen as a little underhand and potential transfers targets us would immediately mistrust any contractual stuff, thus either holding up or preventing transfers as the legal people try and sort things out.

My feeling is this, if indeed another club bid higher, as with any transfer, the seller has a right to hold out for the highest bid, dont think we could hold out for £25,000,000 otherwise we could be construed as misrepresentation, but whilst the figure of 16 million allows Jones to speak to interested clubs, a club bidding higher would obviously be the favoured option to Rovers and think that is standard contractual proceedure in football.

There seems to be a current trend in this reserve price thing.

Brendan Rogers was talking on sky and said Newcastle have offerd 1 million for there LB\RB,this allows Newcastle to talk to the player but he will be sold for more.

The downside is that the LB\RB has gone awol.

Have checked and Venky's are not happy about the Jones transfer and are kicking up a fuss, hence the lack of any official confirmation, but from what I have been told legally Venky's don't have a leg to stand on.

What are they trying to do? get more cash?

I can't go into details on the row.

One - because I am working on the FULL story of it.

Two - it's not something you can write until you have total evidence.

Put it this way, the deal isn't done yet...two days on from the 'move' it is yet to be announced.

I still think Jones goes to Man U, but there may be some price adjustment. A premium possibly - depending on what is unearthed.

£25 million? A bit of chat really but based on the whiff of trouble.
