Have checked and Venky's are not happy about the Jones transfer and are kicking up a fuss, hence the lack of any official confirmation, but from what I have been told legally Venky's don't have a leg to stand on.

Please give some sort of source. Have you seen the contract?

Ha ha I have not seen the contract or any such thing. Can't reveal source of information.

Whole situation is just plain bizarre but if my information is correct (and I have no reason to doubt that it isn't) then legally they don't have a leg to stand on. If this gets messy, which it could do if Venky's continue to kick up a fuss and legally they can't do anything about it then the owners will lose whatever credibility they have.

It wuld be nice if for once we could all talk about the exciting players coming in. It seems like decades. Sniff :(

For trying to get as much money as possible for the sale of our best player? Do me a favour.

I just don't understand how they can kick up a fuss, if they can't back it. Surely ManU would tell them to calm down and sign the papers they are legally obliged to sign..?

Put it this way, the deal isn't done yet...two days on from the 'move' it is yet to be announced.

I still think Jones goes to Man U, but there may be some price adjustment. A premium possibly - depending on what is unearthed.

:tu: Thats what we like to hear....screw them for EVERY penny!! :brfc:

Makes a change that the club doesnt just role over and accept the big boys demands. Sounds more like a tapping up incident to me.

What are people's opinions on Joseph Yobo, id personally thought he was always very under rated at everton and one of the most consistent centre backs in the league. he was on loan at Fenerbache last season and they want him for around 2.5 million. great price for an experienced defender with over 70 caps for his country, he would be my first choice centre back to replace Jones and possibly Samba.

I was reading about him this morning and had the same thought that we should be trying to bring him in. At £2.5 million would be cheap for his experience. Rated very highly at Goodison.

I can't go into details on the row.

One - because I am working on the FULL story of it.

Two - it's not something you can write until you have total evidence.

£25 million? A bit of chat really but based on the whiff of trouble.

Brilliant - great to see that Man United are not having their own way and bullying the rest of the Premier League boys ! Nicko - what do you mean by a premium ? a one of fee, or a performance related payment type thing, or a player ?

Also - the full story, are you gettign it angled for Saturday or Sunday as I`m sure there will be a few journo`s ready to break this as soon as, as long as they have the evidence :-)

This is a mixture of bizarre and captivating. I love Phil Jones but if we can get 25mil for a bloke who has clearly had his head turned by the sights of the Old Trafford bench, I'll be both delighted and surprised.

Nicko, I realise you're most likely concentrating on the PJ saga but have you heard anything about his replacement/transfers coming in? Or are the noises coming from Ewood mainly about the outgoings at the moment? Cheers.

Like I said in the PJ thread it probably won't make a difference and eventually the deal will go through but I am sick of the "love in" that has gone on between us and the so called big clubs in recent years when it comes to selling players.

I hope they have the same attitude when it comes to Samba as well.

Well if Samba doesnt have a clause then it looks like the owners are going to be proper tw@ts about it and there is very little chance a club could pinch him for cheap  ....Good to see us stand up to a bigger club for a change. :tu:

espn have a piece on the developments, they are basically saying Venkys and thier advisor's belive that Jones is the nearest thing to a tony adams or john terry and should be valued at 25 mill. the 16 mill clauses only allows Jones to talk to other clubs.

fair play, 16 mill is a bit shabby in my view, if we get anything above 20 mill than i'd take it.

From what I've read, it seems fairly obvious that two things are crystal clear;

1. Man Utd tapped up Jones.

2. Venky's have discovered the great British equaliser; Tipp-ex.

I highly doubt this is true unfortunately. Not having an article written by 'harry harris'.

Harry posts on here, he usually has pretty good information and is a good poster.

Just a thought kamy. You say Venkys may not have a leg to stand on. But I also cannot see them being happy with either kean or Jerome Anderson - if these two were involved when the contract was drawn up. Venkys kicking up a fuss could, do you think that could be a good thing. I hope they lose interest in football and Rovers and try to sell the club.

Have they any to lose?

Yeah that would brilliant.

I can see a queue of reputable owners forming already.

People have been saying for years, that as a club we shouldn't just roll over and cave in, it seems that is now happening for once, even if we're on a bit of dodgy ground legally.

Do we need to have a good relationship with Man Utd? No.

Do we have a history of buying players from them? No

Do they have a history of tapping up our players? Yes (Allegedly)

Has Jones been tapped up, Yes, interesting to note who by (Allegedly)

Ferguson was quick to stick the boot in when Allardyce was sacked, so he can get ****** also.

So all this should give us some satisfaction in the short term, shouldn’t it, they're a set of arrogant t*****s.

The Manager won't have anything at all to do with the precise details of the contract such as break clauses etc that will be dealt with by lawyers and agents, with approval coming from the owners or Board level.

Presume the delay and problems stem from Nicko's earlier comment wondering how Jones has spoken with Ferguson when he has been out of the country - the whiff perhaps of tapping up as others have said, and some extra money from Man U for us to keep quiet?
