Getting a bit nervous over the Hoilett situation with Newcastle hovering. Hopefully he'll sign a deal soon although his dad is notoriously hard to deal with. Would be the worst start to the summer ever if he went.

Another PR stunt from Venky's?

why would it be a PR stunt if they have the same view as 99% of supporters that they are peeved off Jones is going ?

Venkys are never likely to be accepted or trusted as soon as they do somethign positive, people see the negative in it. Why not get behind the team, the club and the owners

Looks like Venkys have it wrong but good tosee them sticking up for their investment.

We won't get any more money I don't think and he will go to the despised Manure but good may come of it.

Venkys might have their eyes opened at last and realise they can't let the club run itself and that it needs real leadership.

Because according to every paper they are wrong on demanding Man Utd pay more. Of course if we end up receiving significantly more then great work.

Reading between the lines though, there must be something there, otherwise this would be a done deal surely ? its now in to its third day after a medical and still no announcement, tells me there is some substance in Venky`s camp, otehrwise they would surely have signed the paperwork.

It may be, that we neevr find out what happens, if a gentlemans agreement is reached.

could someone please summarise what the duck is going on as I can'y read the computer screen for as mopeds, alchol and telegraph poles apparently are not a good combination.

Thanks in advance.

The Daily Telegraph reports that there's some inquiry going on between Venkys and their"advisors" as to why the selling price for Jones was so low.

Does that mean they are unhappy with Anderson? Or does "advisors' mean someone else?

If nothing more comes out of this then surely Venkys must realise hands-on means hands-on? You can't run a premier League Club from thousands of miles way with Informal advisers and ill-defined roles.

You need experts and a chain of command. Something like a Chairman and a Secretary/Chief Executive Officer in fact.

Good post.

However I would add that surely people who run businesses etc would know that from day one. We are obviously run by some real intellectually stunted people, a quote from someone who has shown he knows how to run a business in their neck of the woods.

whoever inserted the clause into the contract last febuary should be fired and if the anderson mafia had anything to do with drawing up that contract extension then surley that should just prove that anderson/kentaro do not have the clubs best interest at heart.

I know of a family firm (local) who were 'punching above therur weight'. They were run by a genious bloke but he was getting on a bit. He eventually handed over the company to his children. They might have had the same genes but they didn't have the same values. Probably because they were brought up in relative wealth and security they didn't have that hunger or sharpness that your Alan Sugar types had.

Within 2 years the company went in receivership.

Not read any of the other posts on this topic but if we're trying to make the deal as difficult as possible for Man Utd. and Jones - good on us. I'm sick and tired of us over the last few years rolling over to have our tummy tickled by other Clubs.

I spoke to someone else the other day who's of exactly the same the same opinion as me. Take it to Court if necessary, if the matter is strung out out over several months and Jones is left unable to play for anyone for most of next season that would not be an entirely unsatisfactory outcome. At least it might make other players think twice about walking out four months after signing a new five year deal.

The person whose idea it was to put the "clause" in Jones new deal can be taken out and shot later.

:angry2:

Personally I'd rather they just sold us on, all the Venky's era had done is slowly cripple and dissect our club.

The Jones and Kean rumors are not new and I'm sure it won't be the last of that ilk. Has Junior signed? What's Olsson's agent up to at present?

BPF spoke about players not liking Kean and he's not the only one who's heard this. But alas Kentaro's propaganda machine is back spouting we should all be grateful as they are putting in a poxy 5 million a window.

Jack would be turning in his grave over what's going on at our club and it's little wonder JW walked.

What people are missing here is that the clause will have been put in by the player and his agent. Usually they are a sticking point in signing a new deal as in 'put it in or we wont sign'. I don't think anyone at blackburn deserves to be shot.

I thnik it is up to Venky's now to let actions speak louder than words - well hopefully because they clearly don't have a clue what they are talking about when it comes to football (I do think language differences does not help in this respect).

If these stories are correct then they do not clearly understand contractual law either.

Time for them to up their act and start running us in the correct manner, they have it all to prove.

Ten quid says the chuckle brothers and Mrs D manage it in less time....

Trouble is their actions to date are about as inspiring as eating fried pooh.

I have no faith in them, their leeching advisors and believe firmly that their ability level could be surpassed by a monkey. They clearly have no clue what they are doing and given the comments made to me by a far superior family from India, well let's just say not even counting chickens will help.

1) I don't know how often this needs to be mentioned but if it is "only" 5m it's still 5m p.a. more than the last owners. Plus when Jones eventually is sold the vast majority of the money would have disappeared under the old regime whereas at least we are told now any fee will be available to the manager.

2) But did he walk shortly after handing Jones "A get out of Ewood free" (Or for 16m) card on a plate?

He already had the vast majority of a five year deal to run. There was no need from our point of view to give him him a new deal. I thought the idea of the new deal was to up his salary in accordance with his growing reputation and make him fairly untouchable unless a truly ludicrous offer of say 25 -30m came in.

I think this whole debacle merely underlines the fact that our new owners, who no doubt have the best of intentions, are incredibly naive when it comes to footballing matters. I think it also shows that you can't possbily try to run the club from Pune in India.

Whilst one might applaud their efforts to get more money for Jones, from what has been reported so far it suggests that they simply don't understand the contracts of footballers or the nature of the game. As for tapping up, that is something that has always gone on. We need only look at how Robbie Savage and El Hadji Diouf arrived at Ewood Park to know that players usually get the moves they want.

Unless there is something new that has not been brought to light about the contract it would surely be better to draw a line under it and take the £16.5 million and move on. With the £5 million that Venkys are putting in this window that should give Kean £21 million to play with. The last thing our owners need is to get a reputation of being difficult to deal with as selling clubs might become reluctant to do business with us.

Hopefully, our owners will find this another learning experience and will begin to realise that football is a unique business that requires a different approach to that which they bring to their everyday work.

My thoughts exactly PB.

Any neutral's are going to wonder why a club that value Jones at £25m, gave him a release clause at £16m. The defence would be that JW inserted the clause and Venky's either didn't understand what that meant, or didn't know about it. Neither is acceptable.

You have to wonder why Venky's haven't been put straight by other people at the club, but then you wonder who is there for them to ask? JW or TF would certainly have explained to them what a release clause actually means, but they're not there any more.

We can only hope that Paul Hunt can sort things out in future. Best of luck to him because he's going to have a lot on his plate.
