[Archived] Tom Finn Leaves Rovers

Recommended Posts

If you really believe that JW and Tom Finn wanted to leave Rovers, then I'll have some of what you're on, if you think that gimmicks of the Wolves tickets and freebies blinker the fact that we were drawn into a relegation issue because they failed to understand the footballing culture and what is neccessary to be successfull in the Premier League, sacked a perfectly good manager, gave out extended contracts to certain players, some of whom you have mentioned, many you havent, put a complete novice in charge as manager, reduced the backroom staff including the academy which is at its most productive for decades. Now what else have they failed on?

Oh yes, the downright lies and contradictory statements which proper football people over the whole country have commented on in both the media and on television and the major statement upon purchasing the club was that 'all the management structure would remain in place'

I don't believe they wanted to leave, they may have been forced out or it could have been a personal choice. Who knows? All I am saying is that with them leaving it does not make Venkys a failure. If you were to takeover a business, would you want your own men at the helm or would you want the previous regime's staff working? I know what I would do and what most businesses do.

Agree on failing to understand the football culture, but they've not made any decisions that have affected our club. If they have, name one because I can't see.

A good manager in your eyes, and a poor one in Venky's eyes. Again, they are the owners and they are entitled to do what they like. Did that cost us? No.

Which players have I forgot to mention? I'm sure most people are happy with the contracts given out to our players.

Rovers have never been the Media Darlings, and never will be. The Venkys takeover may have given us bad press, but half the rubbish spouted in the papers is nonsense and we all know it.

The talk amongst most is that we are in a crisis, when in reality, we're in the strongest position for years, with money to spend in the transfer market, young players coming through and an excellent team spirit, which was there for all to see VS Wolves.

Gav- did you not hear that Nicko is actually an agent working for Kentaro?! This sort of unsubstantiated rubbish (alongside another classic- season ticket prices are going to be vastly inflated) is not insider info it's scaremongering and slanderous but that's where we seem to be headed.

Looks like I was wrong earlier, it does appear that a another senior appointment is going to be made in the very near future (thanks BPF, your post prompted me to check).

This next bit is pure guess work but maybe the board restructure and not sacking Kean means that they are looking to bring in a director of football? Kean left to manage the team and the DOF deals directly with the owners, the DOF in essence becomes Venky's "football" adviser, this coupled with Hunt looking after the none playing side of the business and Paul Agnew as PR Director.

I've never personally been involved in a take-over were the top management didn't go within a year (including me), it happens, it's business. One thing I've learnt being in business is that it's very easy to get comfortable and not want to challenge the status quo. I don't know TF or JW but I appreciate what they've done but the club was stagnating, I'm not surprised the new owners what to shake things up. It all might go mamories-up but I doubt it.

Come on mate don't get all like that, you've posted some facts well in advance of them being publicly known and some things that have turned out to be not 100% factual if I recall right.

Most people are grateful for the info you and Kamy have provided

Totally diagree 100% with that. John Williams did an excellent job as Chief Exec and then Chairman for years. The only thing he struggled to combat was the wages to income ratio. Can't really comment on Tom Finn as he was more in the background.

Whilst they are both victis of restructuring (or meddling) both deserve all the best for the future, whether that's working or retirement.

Its not a pi**ing competition, and I dont claim to have insider knowledge, so that comment is completely irrelevant.

Tom Finn has left the club, no story there, but as usual people are trying to make one, its becoming tiresome Kelbo, it really is.

Ive always been one for people posting little snippets of information, in fact Ive done it myself once I seem to recall, but nowadays these snippets NEVER have any truth to them, so thats why Im getting sick of it.

Only person to ever get anything right was Nicko, sadly hes gone, the rest of you post nonsense, this has been proven time and time again.

So Venkys never said they would keep the management in place?

Never said they were going to buy certain players, then they weren't and then admitted it, were in touch with Marodonna, then they weren't, Mrs D said this in a radio interview, so how is this not getting things right.

Kean has stated that the transfer budget will be huge, then its £5,000,000 plus the proceeds of sales, we will see what the outcome is but these are simple snippets of what both our manager and owner have said in live interviews, so if I have got my facts wrong, the manager and Mrs D are even bigger liars than I am making out.

All you have done in all fairness Gav is argue the toss, whoever posts, but I dont do wind ups, when I played football they tried that on many occassions, I walk away, smile and make them think about when the next tackle comes in, thats my way of handling things, so you wont ever wind me up, I will answer only with honesty, which I have and before you reply back, please disprove what I have posted here, if you cant, then dont bother.

During the last takeover that came my way, I and my 3 senior business systems managers were made redundant and replaced by 10(TEN), staff, 5 mangers and a director. They may have done a stirling job, dunno. They in turn have been taken over by Persimmon and have all been made redundant, all their rolls have been absorbed into the new business.

Things change direction and personell change, but the business continues....BRFC continues, but without US they would be nothing very quickly.

Personally I'm OK with that as long as the DOF is NOT "you know who".

Just like JW felt it was the right time?

If you are a businessman as you claim to be, the easiest job in the world would be to make things so uncomfortable for the employee, they would leave!!

So the answer is no then! You are speculating nothing more.

I'd agree with this - your info has been more useful, accurate and delivered minus the arrogance you get from people like Nixon.

On topic, thanks to Finn for his work and service and I'm interested to hear who the potential DOF may be...

Don't worry Tom.

My tongue was buried firmly in my cheek when I was typing that. :)
