[Archived] Six Seater Car Hire

Recommended Posts

Looking to hire an Espace, Sharan, Galaxy type vehicle in August. Not proving as easy as I thought it would be. Anyone done this or got suggestions?

This is for six adults for 11 days so comfort is important which rules out cars like the Zafira where seats 6 and 7 are more for kids than adults.

If i was hiring a 6 seater, i`d go for something more like a 6 seater van. A Volkswagon Transporter Shuttle or a Mercedes Vito. They come in up to 9 seaters & generally have much better leg room & baggage space. Not sure where you hire them from ,but that`s what i`d go for ;)

I agree on the Vito.

We hired one in Germany last Christmas for 4 adults, 2 kids (in childseats), 4 suitcases and 2 prams. Fitted us all perfectly, very comfortable, loads of space.

Don't agree on the Zafira seats 6/7 being for kids, I've quite comfortably sat in ours. However you have no room for bags if you have all 7 seats out.

The kids thing is just the impression I have. This is for six adults in their mid-50s, some have reached the stage where some leg room is needed!! Plus we have a six hour drive to Oban and later a 7 hour drive, perhaps more, from Skye. Trip is Chorley - Oban - Mull - Oban - Barra, Uists, Harris, Lewis, Skye (Outer Hebrides) - Edinburgh - Chorley.

People have been told this is a minimalist holiday, small bags only, but then we have three wives with us...................

I had a Galaxy a few years back. Very comfortable to drive but if you've got 6 adults in there and bags for a lengthy trip there won't be much room to spare. I'd suggest having a look at one somewhere before you commit.

As it happens I'm off on my Scottich trip tonight - Preston - Glasgow - Torridon - Ullapool - Lewis - Skye - Knoydart - Preston over 11 days. Only me and the wife in the car though...

Try giving Montreal Prestige a ring in Bolton. They specialise in Accident Management and Car Hire, this includes luxury, business and social use.

01204 659 658.

Used it plenty of times recently as my car hasn't been very reliable.

Any views on how much space there is in a Chrsyler Voyager? Does the thid row of seats split? t appears the single seat of the three folds dow but I'm not clear about the other two (which appear to be joined together?) Ideally I'd like to be able to fold down the middle of the three rear seats.
