[Archived] Betting suspended on Phil Jones -> Liverpool

I haven’t felt this horrible about a summer transfer window since back in 2003. One of my favourite players of all time was sold for 17m that summer. One has to argue that if Phil Jones does leave this summer for 1m shy of that total, we have royally ripped our self off.

Future England captain? Perhaps... Future top Centre back in the world? Perhaps not, but from watching Phil I have to say that the guy is certainly talented. His advisors must have pushed the minimum fee into his contract in order to secure a big pay day for the player.

This has to make people wonder? Phil signed a 5 year deal at approx 20k a week in July last season – that’s around 5m over 5 years.. Why does Phil need to make any more money in the meantime? This shows how much influence agents have over our players. If Phil was a fly by night player, (which it is obvious he is not) then I could understand this.

So we, us, our club - created a future england hero...Bleated to the world about "not being a selling club" and then cashed in for (I think at least) 15m+ less than he is worth.
