Backroom Tom Posted July 31, 2011 Backroom Posted July 31, 2011 Guess who: "I've said a lot of things over the years that people laugh at and I find them very insulting for making a joke about it or laughing at how I could be a manager of any club, anywhere and deal with it. I still feel like I can walk into any club, anywhere, any time and deliver. It's a bit like a CEO, isn't it? You can take up a position in any industry and if you're a good CEO, you can make that company profitable. You put me in a football environment anywhere in the world and I can deliver the module. I can modify the module for the particular culture and the way of playing.""That's what I've done and that's what I do. I turn dreams into reality."

BuckyRover Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Guess who: Like a hole in the head (how much I miss him)
braddock Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Hmm, since there's no search function I can't find the Burnley relegation party thread to post this: http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=104&fid=297&sty=2&act=1&mid=2116772027&page=1 Can't see them making it into a Premiership thread like this one for the foreseeable future.
Grabbi Graeme Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Not Premier League but the Football League has decided to drop the number of substitutes allowed in league games from 7 to 5, seems a strange move. Managers have been on SSN over weekend not happy about it, Gus Poyet says that is stopping clubs from giving younger players of gaining experience.

Did they say why they were implementing it?
thenodrog Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Not Premier League but the Football League has decided to drop the number of substitutes allowed in league games from 7 to 5, seems a strange move. I remember playing when there were none.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Alfreton Town 14-0 Sheff Wednesday Eeek!
roverandout Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 got to say man city look the real deal, going to be in the top 3 for me this season without doubt. Got the best squad in the premiership in my opinion and we still havent seen the likes of cliche or aguero yet and on top of that im sure we will see 2 or 3 more top signings from them. Still think they need a top defender to play alongside kompany, toure isnt up to it and lescott looks utter sh*te. Surprised they havent asked about the availability of samba, wouldnt look out of place in their defence.
Grabbi Graeme Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Unusual indeed. Did they say why they were implementing it? They never gave a reason from what I have read, the change was voted for a couple a weeks ago, so the league clubs not getting a lot notice of it.
Backroom DE. Posted August 1, 2011 Backroom Posted August 1, 2011 What a strange decision. 7 subs is a good number, you can cover almost every position and throw a couple of youngsters on the bench as well. A silly move by the FL.

A silly move by the FL. Some clubs may not to be able to afford to field that many subs. Bit lower down i know but when unibond changed from 3 to 5 subs, it made a difference to finances every week coa they were having to pay more players on a weekly basis.
Backroom DE. Posted August 1, 2011 Backroom Posted August 1, 2011 If you can't afford to field that many subs could you not just reduce your bench accordingly? I could be wrong but just because you're allowed 7 doesn't mean you have to have 7 on the bench, does it?
True Blue & White Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Yesterday Joey Barton quoted George Orwell on Twitter, today he has quoted George Washington so what next? I reckon George W Bush with "I hear there's rumors on the Internets".
Mattyblue Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Yesterday Joey Barton quoted George Orwell on Twitter, today he has quoted George Washington so what next? I reckon George W Bush with "I hear there's rumors on the Internets". Yesterday morning Barton turned to George Orwell. "In times of universal deceit, telling the truth will be a revolutionary act," "There's safety in the herd," Barton tweeted this summer, "but never enlightenment or individualism." "Its a British trait to be embarrassed by sounding too positive, we are not aware of our own self worth as a democratic society. Embrace it" * "You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star. #Nietzsche"
Neil Weaver Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Ah yes, but amongst all those literary giants was a much more sensible source, a tweet quoting a Smiths lyric. So he's putting on a pretence of being well listened AND well read.
philipl Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 What is Coyle doing to the Trotters? Now Tyrone Mears has broken his leg.
Hughesy Posted August 4, 2011 Author Posted August 4, 2011 What is Coyle doing to the Trotters? Now Tyrone Mears has broken his leg. 2 broken legs in 5 days....sounds like they have been going in abit too full on during pre season and training.
braddock Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Burnley undersell a player (according to themselves, I saw it as a fair deal) so are annoyed, then another rival won't even be able to play them. Certainly looks good as a Rovers fan if you just look at the situation and not the fact that a man has just broken his leg.
Backroom Tom Posted August 7, 2011 Backroom Posted August 7, 2011 2-2 now, stunning stunning goal for the second. City should have spent more on their back line though
adopted scouser Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Say what you like about United, that second goal looked like a move you'd see in a film or summat, incredible
