So, a very good team get beat by 6 at Old Trafford. Puts our 7-1 from last season into context doesn't it!! Can't believe all the rubbish that was posted on here about Allardyce deserving to be sacked for that result.

Especilly as Kean had organised the defensive set-up that day apparently.

Anyway, this amused me:

henrywinter Henry Winter

Message to @pagartside...if Wenger rings in the morning, tell him it's £30m for Gary Cahill now. Plus add-ons. #afc #bwfc

After Spurs and arsenal gettin absolutely mauled I'd be very suprised if the cheque books are not out in North London this week.

When people turned on Allardyce after the MU match despite us winning 3 out of 4 previous PL matches (and the one the week after) I said MU have the ability to do this to any team when things go for them. Didn't register with some of the slow of thought and still doesn't but this rather proves it.

Can anyone imagine us winning 4 matches out of 6 now? Truth is if we won 4 now I'd not bother if we lost the next by 10! Thats how far we have fallen since the nights of the long knives last winter.

I agree Gordon. The 7-1 was utterly humiliating, but teams like Man Utd can just turn up and do that sort of thing, and have on quite a few occaisions. In the past they did Ipswich 9-0 and Forest 8-1, and have probably beaten teams like Wigan 5-0 a few times since. The 7-1 was a convenient excuse for those who wanted Sam out. But that is another story that has been told many times.

I have read Arsenal fans are starting to call for Wenger's head on 606 etc. I thought I'd never see that, and they'd all be happy playing their pretty stuff and finish 4th.

The thing was we set up deliberately defensively that day and managed to lose 7-1. Arsenal foolish tried to play their normal, open attacking football and paid the full price. Plus the fact Arsenal had about seven players out and had a men sent off. They still could have easily scored four or five with the chance they had to be fair. On the other hand could have easily conceded 10+.

Wenger is a very rigid manager a rarely deviates from footballing beliefs, then again he doesn't have the sort of players at his disposal today to do that.

Good job we did then. Imagine how many we would have conceded if Sam had gone gung-ho and left the backdoor open. Good management then, eh?

I know this sounds daft but Arsenal looked prettyu goos at OT for the first 30 minutes and the game undoubtedly turned on the RvP penalty miss.

A bit like us giving the Arse a real fright in both the 6-2 maulings down there.

Agreed we were never in the hunt in the 7-1 defeat at OT but there was something very fishy going on that day inside the Rovers camp with SK allegedly the defensive major domo. The only thing to be said in his mitigation that he has proven as incapable organising a defense for himself as he was for Sam.

I don't care who you are playing but losing 7-1 doesn't come across as good management to me. Wenger got it wrong today, Big Sam got it wrong back in the day.

Although to be fair there was some shocking defending from individuals that day. I don't see how we could have done any worse playing more gung-ho. I thought we bordered on the line of being too defensive at times away from under Big Sam. I'm not arguing the case for Big Sam being sacked it was a foolish decision to sack him but one of my only concern was how we lined-up against the big sides away from home, almost looking like we'd already been beat before we kicked off.

One of the few positive features under Kean I've noticed is that we seem to set-up much better in away games against the bigger sides albeit we've only played Arsenal and Chelsea under his reign.

We might have actually given Man. Utd something to think about other than raping our defence.

Seriously, though, there is a middle-ground between 11 behind the ball and going gung-ho. You should know that.

Odd how WHU's got a poor home record but a 100% away record to date isn't it?

Yeah I noticed this very peculiar considering we where usually much stronger at home than away. Then against West Ham are a much better team relative to other teams in the league than we where/are in the Premier League.

I see Bellamy was true to his word to Cardiff fans last year:

'I want this club to get into the Premier League and even if it finishes my career doing so, I'll make sure that happens.

'I've made too many promises to myself, my kids, my friends and people around me that if I don't it'll be a massive disappointment for me, but I'll be here next year trying to do the same.

Bellamy continued: 'I'm here for the year and Manchester City have been great, they know my situation and they know I only want to play for Manchester City in the Premier League, I don't want to play for anyone else.

'I hear stories about other clubs, why would I choose them now when I could have chosen them last year?

'My stance is clear on this. If I can't play for Manchester City in the Premier League, I won't play for anyone else in the Premier League. I'm adamant on that.

'They own me, they're my club. If I can't play for them, I won't play for anyone else apart from Cardiff City.

A link to Kean organising the defence at OT last season please. Surely Mr allardyce didn't leave this to his underlings?

Across town it would seem that there maybe something the assertion by some that Gary Cooke is an odious creep.
