jrabrfc Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Lots of bookies have suspended the Next Manager to Leave market as a flood of money has gone on Bruce leaving in the past 24 hours. There's lots of rumours he might be potted today. And we still stagger on with our chump in charge.

cn174 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 1803 FOOTBALL: Sunderland have parted company with manager Steve Bruce.
Backroom DE. Posted November 30, 2011 Backroom Posted November 30, 2011 This was agreed a couple of days ago, no idea why they waited until now to announce it but w/e. Amazing he gets the chop before the drunkard, but Sunderland have been bad.
Audax Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 As to DE4Life's post above, I wonder if the shock of the Gary Speed death had an effect to delay the Bruce sacking a day or two. It may have. Not the premier league but I saw a bit on this on the telly, Friday, the game Genoa AC Milan stopped for a few minutes, I thought it was a smoke bomb in the stadium. The supporters, Ultras clashed outside the stadium and the police fired tear gas at them and some of the tear gas I guess even effected some of those inside. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/soccer/wires/12/02/2050.ap.soc.euro.rdp.1st.ld.writethru.0587/index.html I thought I was going to see a game abandoned on TV, I had never seen that but the delay did not last long. I hope we don't see fans setting off flares and the like at the Euro Cup, Polish fans did that at Craven Cottage. One of the announcers on Sky did mention those kinds of problems over there.

There was a Sky match abandoned in Spain a couple of weeks ago, Granada v Real Mallorca. Just after a Granada player had scored a goal and dedicated it to his very poorly son, there was an incident where a throw in or corner was awarded. Presumably someone didn't agree and a Granada fan threw a (small) umbrella which struck the lino in the face drawing blood. The ref and assistants immediately left the field and called off the game. There was about half an hour to go too. Presumably the dedicated goal was struck from the records along with the result. The 'fan' was fined 5000 Euros and banned for 2 years. Not long enough! http://www.adifferentleague.co.uk/p6_1_11560_youth-fined-€5000-for-umbrella-incident-during-granada-mallorca-match.html

I know it's poor sportsmanship and criminal, but the last year has taught me that many within football have no boundaries.
Tooogs Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Jones has just scored for Utd. His first professional goal. Well done Phil. Now COME ON VILLA!
Backroom Tom Posted December 3, 2011 Backroom Posted December 3, 2011 I'm glad his first goal was an own goal the other week
Emge Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Jones has just scored for Utd. His first professional goal. Well done Phil. Now COME ON VILLA! Fergie was grinning like a proud grandfather at the sideline...

Stuart Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Looking at the incident, plus 'Arry's comments, it'll probably be rescinded. Although Linekar did play the old Spurs boy card.
Ricky Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Cattermole picks up a booking so he'll miss the game against us next week. A draw in this game would be ok for us. Keeps us in touching distance of both teams.
Audax Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 (Spoiler) This will really set up a showdown if Wolves hang on for next week's game Sunderland/Rovers. MON is there at Molineux. Actually, I've liked Mick McCarthy and I may be wrong but I think Wolves have had a few gutsy performances, I didn't expect Wolves to come back and surge ahead albeit, that ball did touch around the Wolves player's chest and arm...it was close. Sunderland had the better quite a bit until that 1st Wolves goal in my opinion, close to even. Actually, it's more like I empathise and sympathise with McCarthy because he played for Republic of Ireland, he managed them and whatever that was that happened between him and Roy Keane, I don't think Mick McCarthy should have been treated that badly. I don't know if it would have been McCarthy's fault for example that they set out to Japan Korea and were unable to practise in Saipan because they did not have balls and other equipment. I read one of the books on him. I'm not for Wolves at all but it seems McCarthy got too much flack from '02.
Hughesy Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Looking at results, the table and the next few fixtures coming up....I think Wigan are down
Ricky Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Don't wolves now have a couple of tough fixtures. I'm sure the commentators were saying they had some tricky ones coming up.
Hughesy Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 Wigans next 7 games - West Brom (a), Chelsea (H), Liverpool (H), United (A), Stoke (A), Sunderland (H), City (h) Wolves next 7 games - United (a), Stoke (h), Norwich (H), Arsenal (A), Bolton (A), Chelsea (H), Spurs (A) Fulham next 7 games - Liverpool (H), Swansea (A), Bolton (H), United (H), Chelsea (A), Norwich (a), Arsenal (h)
philipl Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 The fact Fulham are in the mix at the bottom shows how massive a task Rovers have in finishing 17th this season.
Hughesy Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 The fact Fulham are in the mix at the bottom shows how massive a task Rovers have in finishing 17th this season. What makes you say that?
rovers11 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 What makes you say that? Think Swansea are going to drop like a stone. They're the ones we should be looking at more that the likes of Fulham and Sunderland. However, it's good to keep as many teams as possible down there.
Hughesy Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 I still think both Norwich & Swansea will struggle. QPR however have bigger resources and more premier league quality players, and will probably add to that in Jan. Bolton lose at home to Villa on saturday and they really are starting to get into trouble!
rovers11 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Bolton and Wigan will get relegated IMO. Wigan are dreadful and Bolton have so many long term injury problems to key players and will have to sell their best player in Jan. And their home form is awful. Think it's between us, Norwich and Swans for that final place. If we get a better manager in, and spend 10m in jan as reported then we may just sneak it.
Hughesy Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 Here is my reason why I think Norwich & Swansea are still relegation candidates.....as a new club, you need an excellent start 09-10 Season @ this stage Burnley had 17pts, Hull had 13pts, Pompey -2 10-11 Season @ this stage West Ham had 9pts, Big Club had 16pts and Blackpool 18pts 11-12 Season – Norwich have less than Burnley and Blackpool had at this stage, Swansea currently have less than Burnley, Blackpool & Birmingham all had. Personally on saturday I felt we looked like the premier league side, and Swansea the Championship one. We just had that bit of extra quality and dont forget we are out of form, they aint!
Amo Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Hughesy, someone's dog dumped outside my house. Can you polish it for me?
Exiled_Rover Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Looking at the incident, plus 'Arry's comments, it'll probably be rescinded. Although Linekar did play the old Spurs boy card. I should hope not. N'Zonzi got a tree game ban after the fact. Cahill's red should stand.
