Miker Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Wolves equalized, no longer bottom. Let's hope it stays that way.
Audax Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 All of the matches are tight, 3 visiting clubs winning, Spurs, Fulham and Wigan at the moment.
Audax Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I held my tongue 5 minutes ago, but Aston Villa scored again, kind of unbelievable, Chelsea 1 3 Aston Villa at the Bridge. Aston Villa could have been drawn into the relegation fight at 20 points but they'll have 23.
Clitherover Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Chelsea are so unpredictable this season.
Devon Rover Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Good news, Stoke equalized!!! It was excellent news but its now 2-2. Shame, but I hope Stoke lose some confidence ahead of Monday from this!
Clitherover Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Stoke winning!!! I think tonight is gonna be a good night indeed Jisty. It was excellent news but its now 2-2. Shame, but I hope Stoke lose some confidence ahead of Monday from this! Using BBC sport website as my source, slow to update.
StaffsRover Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 It would be easy to take negatives from late equalisers for Norwich, Wigan and Swansea but I think today we should be saying this: 2 points gained on: Wigan Bolton Wolves Norwich Swansea 3 points gained on: QPR Am I being Uber positive or isn't that pretty much it in a nutshell......Smile people there have been NO negatives today!!
G Somerset Rover Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Good summary mate. Still a long way to go but win on Monday and we can do this. Get to the summer, Venkys sell up, Kean buggers off. Happy days. I can dream can't I? Happy new year all.
Audax Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 4 draws in 7 games today, at least Arsenal defeated QPR. So, the table will be interesting, Rovers defeat Stoke City and some of the other results go our way, they will be in a fair position which would be amazing. --------- Have to add West Ham lost at Derby today. So the Championship as always is interesting. http://www.soccerway.com/national/england/championship/2011-2012/regular-season/
Steve Moss Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 It would be easy to take negatives from late equalisers for Norwich, Wigan and Swansea but I think today we should be saying this: 2 points gained on: Wigan Bolton Wolves Norwich Swansea 3 points gained on: QPR I'd +1 this if I could.
Backroom Tom Posted January 1, 2012 Backroom Posted January 1, 2012 Odd to see wigan bring on a player just to take a penalty, more like American football
cn174 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Incredible finish to the game at Sunderland. Think he was just a tad offside though. Not good for us, could do with more teams languishing towards the bottom. One comment from the commentators during the game made me feel sad, 'such a difference in atmosphere here at Sunderland compared to the end of the Bruce reign - before it was not a nice atmosphere, everyone making their feelings heard, now the place is full of optimism.' That's what a change in manager can do, something we seemingly have no chance of getting.

Backroom DE. Posted January 1, 2012 Backroom Posted January 1, 2012 Sunderland are an irrelevance anyway. They're not going down, especially not with O'Neill in charge. Our "group" are Wolves, QPR, Bolton & Wigan. We'll be aiming to finish top of this pile and that's as high as we can realistically aim (16th). The fact we've failed to beat any of those teams and lost to two of them obviously doesn't bode well.

I'm actually resigned to relegation - and the fact that there's nothing any of us can do about it - so much so, I actually laughed when Sunderland scored. Cracking end to a match though as you say. Hope there is similar tomorrow at Ewood!
Backroom Tom Posted January 1, 2012 Backroom Posted January 1, 2012 Just when I was thinking this league is dull as dishwater and I wouldn't mind some real football in the Championship we have a weekend like this one with 3 normal (ish) teams beating the big boys when they had no right.

Backroom Tom Posted January 1, 2012 Backroom Posted January 1, 2012 For a team like us there isn't much enjoyment to be had, if it wasn't for what would certainly come with relegation for us the Championship wouldn't look too bad to me personally.

The PL has all manner of faults, but do I for a second want to go down to that league? Never.

Got a funny feeling Norwich and Swansea will be fine this year... I always felt teams like Hull, Burnley and Blackpool would drop like a stone after a good start but I don't have that feeling with Norwich or Swansea. We'll see I suppose, but I think the bottom five now will be the bottom five come the end of the season, just in a different order.
