Warnock, good manager, well, I didn't scoop this but just heard it. Good manager but they haven't won... okay... Curbishley is a Londoner, think he'd be a good replacement. QPR could turn things around and Rovers would still be in the drop zone.

It's amazing that Bruce and now Warnock have gone so far this season and yet a guy with an even worse record than both is still in a job.

Just goes to show how far removed from reality our situation is...

My sentiments entirely.

Oh for those days when we had a decisive chairman and a board. In fact, oh for the days when we had a chairman and a board.

Lets be honest, we arent staying up regardless who takes over at qpr. The reason why is simple: kean and venkys.

We need to start again next season with new owners and a new manager.

I think Tom Cleverley will be a mainstay of the their midfield when he's fit again, so they probably just wanted someone to tide them over until he returns. Same with Darren Fletcher as well. Phil Jones is another option when other defenders return, and they also have Anderson and Carrick.

Makes perfect sense to me really, he didn't look ready for retirement last season. It's difficult for a club of Man Utd's standard to find temporary players that are good enough.

So their plan for this season for midfield was to rely on an untested kid, a fat lazy Brazilian fella, a guy who had been out with mystery illnesses for over a year, a centre-back and Carrick? fact is they needed at least one if not two decent midfielders to come in during the summer. The decision with Scholes is pure desperation imo. The whole reason he retired was because, by his own admission, he wasn't able to influence games the way he used to. I don't see how 8 months out of the game changes that.

How many of us would have predicted Giggs at 38 and Scholes at 37 would still be so important to supposedly the "biggest club in the world"? United can't even claim they haven't had the money to spend - £16.5m on Jones, £18m on Ashley Young, £20m on De Gea, £10m on Smalling - Ferguson has just failed to reinforce his central midfield, simple as that. If he thinks Anderson, Gibson or Park is the answer he's gone senile...

They've got a couple of highly rated lads in their reserves - Morrison and Pogba - who should surely be given their chance instead of taking Scholes out of retirement? For a club that prides itself on blooding youngsters, I think Man Yoo are going backwards with the decision to bring Scholes back.

Martinez, Coyle & Kean the unsackables?!

Very harsh on Martinez. He's done a brilliant job at Wigan with absolutely no money and a poor squad. I'm still not sure how he kept them up last year.

Losing N'Zogbia and not being given money for a decent replacement seems like it might be a step too far, but he's still giving them a fighting chance.

Martinez will go on to much bigger things once he's done at Wigan.

And he was wanted at Villa and stayed loyal to Dave Whelan. A slice of class that Kean does not possess.

Bumping this thread up, really lots of stories,

Championship League news here, but Brum are nearing the playoff zone at 7th finally this season, now not worrying about the Euro League play, they dusted off Millwall 6-0 yesterday! And that's good for Chris Hughton too, their manager.

http://www.soccerway.com/national/england/championship/2011-2012/regular-season/

Also, for the record, I'd say Nottingham Forest and Leicester both are not doing noticeably better despite sacking or separating from their managers, McClaren and Eriksson.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2087104/Thierry-Henry-angry-confrontation-Arsenal-fan.html Interesting story on Thierry Henry and his confrontation with an Arsenal fan.

If all Henry was saying to the spectator is that you should support your team no matter what, it's not a big deal really except probably a player should not be addressing a fan on the pitch. Kind of a strange story.

One can say the PL is full of guff but what do we want? The big four, fairly exciting. Interesting in the above article, Wenger asserts Swans got a pk off a dive, yikes.

I also find it interesting that Rooney has missed 3 of 6 spot kicks this year, for a pro that has got to be a rotten average, I'd think a pro should be able to make it at least 80% of the time.

Not PL related, nor do I have a link (saw it on TV), but Darlington's Administrators have fired their caretaker manager and all the players. Looks like it's curtains for them.

Very poor adminstrative job if true. Sounds more like a liquidator?

EDIT: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jan/16/darlington-staff-redundant-administration

Yep, liquidation looking inevitable barring a 13th hour supporter consortium coming in. Terrifying that this could be Rovers in the not too distant...
