joey_big_nose Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Very poor adminstrative job if true. Sounds more like a liquidator? EDIT: http://www.guardian....-administration Yep, liquidation looking inevitable barring a 13th hour supporter consortium coming in. Terrifying that this could be Rovers in the not too distant... Very poor administration, so bad in fact their management seems to have made Venky's look clever. Spent 3 million on a stand, the five years later knock it all down and build a 25000 all seater stadium for 18 million, where the council's legislate that only 10,000 can attend normally and the all time max attendance is 14,000. Absolutely barmy. Apparently the stadium has been the major reason for Darlington's financial devastation.

Backroom Tom Posted January 17, 2012 Backroom Posted January 17, 2012 This is certainly an interesting and surprising statistic
BuckyRover Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 This is certainly an interesting and surprising statistic You can't play that way as a small team in the Premiership.
david_daft Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 [quote name='BuckyRover' You can't play that way as a small team in the Premiership. Because...?
3rdpillar Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 pass all you want, but with clinical finishing its nothing.... See LFC v BRFC.
Audax Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Swansea are getting a lot of news right now, maybe there is no precedent for this. Perhaps one does need to look at the long term vs. a few months or a few weeks. Nonetheless, it is intriguing, maybe it will be a revolution of sorts. Big deal at the daily mail about this. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2086963/Swansea-3-Arsenal-2-Danny-Graham-clinches-points-goal-thriller.html
ffan Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Very surprised by the lack of action in the transfer window. Wolves are totally reliant on Fletcher for goals and desperately need Doyle to regain form. They lack quality and will end up purchasing Championship/Spl players. They'll go down. Villa are going ok, Ireland is returning to his old City self where he was amazing. Looking to get rid of Collins. Fulham only turn up when the game is being televised. Too many showmen players and not enough steel/determination. Need a replacement for Murphy, a right back, a striker who can score goals regularly but we have been saying that for the last 6 windows. Signing loads of youngsters though. Bolton apparently looking at Giovanni Dos Sontos. Can't really see why, just a south american Chris Eagles. Have a funny feeling that they will stay up. Wigan, very similar to Wolves. The club annoys me. Nothing against them but I think they'll go down. Won't be able to buy anyone of quality, very lightweght. Swansea are the team Wigan aspire to be, well Barcelona really but you know what I mean. Qpr - god only knows what will happen there. similar to blackburn really. don't know what to expect. Liverpool are a bit naff. Their buy british policy hasn't worked. Can't see the Americans trusting Dalglish again with big money to sign the goalscoring striker they desperately need.
Hasta Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Liverpool are a bit naff. Their buy british policy hasn't worked. Can't see the Americans trusting Dalglish again with big money to sign the goalscoring striker they desperately need. To be fair to Dalglish he effectively swapped Torres for Suarez and Carroll which, even now, looks to be the better of that deal.
LeChuck Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 pass all you want, but with clinical finishing its nothing.... See LFC v BRFC. That's not really very a helpful, a single freak result doesn't prove anything. It's generally fair to say that teams who pass the ball well will get good results over an extended period of time.
Ricky Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Interesting that Cisse has now had a medical at Newcastle according to Sky. Cisse and Ba for a combined £10m approx is some strike force.
Ripleys love child Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Just spoke to my mate who's very well connected at villa and was out for a meal with warknock, Collins and dunne and they told him Qatar deal is common knowledge amongst the players now and a deal is very close to being agreed to buy the club. Unbelievable to think it could have been us . Also heard Birmingham are very close to be going into administration , also unbelievable to think that might be us in a weeks, month or years time
thenodrog Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Very poor adminstrative job if true. Sounds more like a liquidator? Terrifying that this could be Rovers in the not too distant... I've said for years that 92 professional clubs is unsustainable in England these days. The cold wind of recession will see quite a few disappear before long imo.
thenodrog Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 This is certainly an interesting and surprising statistic Certainly suprised me in Dec. They played mesmeric triangles down here all afternoon in Dec. Small players but a very impressive team who worked as hard for each other as any team I have seen recently. If only they had a couple of very top strikers and were all a few inches taller they'd be taking the Prem by storm. However they haven't and they aren't.
Backroom Tom Posted January 21, 2012 Backroom Posted January 21, 2012 Chelsea don't look like scoring so Norwich's clean sheet drought could end today Chelsea must be the most disappointing team around they are just so flat and devoid of imagination in attack
Audax Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Norwich have not lost since 27 December to the Spurs http://www.soccerway.com/matches/2012/01/21/england/premier-league/norwich-city-fc/chelsea-football-club/1117254/ Michael Essien came in, I guess he was not selected for Ghana, the commentators remarked about something about a nightmare for him, must be referring to an injury. Fair game, last 10 minutes, it's almost been all Blues on attack, let's see what happens.
Audax Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Congradulations honestly for Clint Dempsey, 1st American to get a hat trick in the Premier League, red letter day, probably 1st American to do so ever in the United Kingdom.
Audax Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I know people say things like "well, West Brom is clear" but any number of clubs could end up losing their last 5 matches say and end up in the relegation zone, Birmingham certainly nosedived at the end of last year. Liverpool played quite poor the last few weeks of last year, of course, they aren't in the bottom half of the table but it does show you what can happen to teams and vice versa too.
Drakefyre Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Congradulations honestly for Clint Dempsey, 1st American to get a hat trick in the Premier League, red letter day, probably 1st American to do so ever in the United Kingdom. He also got one against Charlton in the FA cup two weeks ago
Audax Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 http://www.soccerway.com/national/england/premier-league/2011-2012/regular-season/ Still only Liverpool's 5th loss of the season. At least Aston Villa came back against Wolves. Villa, Liverpool, quite a number of teams have some pretty bad moments. One 3 pointer makes a big difference, Everton drew, I think they were at about 10th, 11th and now fall to 14th but still a big cushion from the bottom 4, 5 if one wants to include QPR, I hope they run into trouble winning.
ross-shire rover Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 This is certainly an interesting and surprising statistic There's lies and then there's statistics. Butch Wilkins - the master of the square pass- would have been near 100% If there were a statistic showing "telling passes" ......
