LeChuck Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Who was the everton player linked with us in summer? Striker with injury record. James Vaughan? Currently at Norwich with a new long term injury.
Backroom Tom Posted March 13, 2012 Backroom Posted March 13, 2012 Stevie G is class Nowhere near the player he used to be IMO but probably too good for that lot though, good finish mind.
adopted scouser Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Nowhere near the player he used to be IMO but probably too good for that lot though, good finish mind. That'll be two then
Backroom Tom Posted March 13, 2012 Backroom Posted March 13, 2012 Always good to have people that understand what derbies mean in them. Second was lucky with the deflection but the first a touch of class. Looks like kenny has brought the good times back again As an aside I still say any tall player could do the same job just as well as Carroll, when samba played up front for us he did the same.

Looks like kenny has brought the good times back again Fancied Everton for this, they'll be lucky to get back into this now. Shaping up to be a good scouse derby Always good to have people that understand what derbies mean in them. Second was lucky with the deflection but the first a touch of class. Carroll's ###### though
Backroom Tom Posted March 13, 2012 Backroom Posted March 13, 2012 Oh dear Suarez what was that. Everton look poor today let's hope they run Sunderland ragged on the weekend for us. Being an 'adopted scouser' I take it you have some fondness of the team as well?

Being an 'adopted scouser' I take it you have some fondness of the team as well? Lived on the Wirral for 16 years, my daughter's there with her mother, I loved it there. Work comitments find me in Altrincham but I have loads of scouse mates, drop the hubcap thing, it's ace
Backroom Tom Posted March 13, 2012 Backroom Posted March 13, 2012 So I picked a good night to criticise gerrard
Backroom DE. Posted March 13, 2012 Backroom Posted March 13, 2012 Looks like kenny has brought the good times back again The good times of being 7th? or were you being sarcastic?
Hughesy Posted March 14, 2012 Author Posted March 14, 2012 So are Liverpool fans back to thanking the leader? Yep - secured 7th now which is what they always wanted!
Mattyblue Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 'Stevie G'?! I thought it was only Steve McClaren that actually called him that.
Backroom Tom Posted March 14, 2012 Backroom Posted March 14, 2012 The good times of being 7th? or were you being sarcastic? Don't forget they won a major trophy as well But yes I was being sarcastic

thenodrog Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Stevie G is class One of my favourite topics. Gerrard is a fine club player (although I have never seen him play anything other than very average for all his career in matches at Ewood) and a competent midfielder with excellent timing and a good shot. His teammates work hard to set him up for his late runs into the box as do Chelsea with Lampard but he is in no way a world beater. He's not quick, he can't dribble, back to goal ability doesn't exist, he's an average tackle in him and many games just pass him by. What he does possess is the happy knack of scoring in big matches which in itself is no mean ability, and that appears to be enough to make him a talisman to the scouse brigade and assorted press / media hacks. Good finish for the 1st but the next two were routine, mighty difficult to miss and owed everything to p1sspoor defending by Everton. The marking was appalling and Moyes face after the second suggested he fully agreed with me, whilst Baines wants carpetting for ball watching whilst SG moved in for the tap in for the third. Allow me that room and those chances and I'd have scored em both... and I'm twice his age.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted March 14, 2012 Moderation Lead Posted March 14, 2012 I thought Everton could have at least had a go last night (and not just in the last 5), a very routine win for Liverpool.
roverandout Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 thenodrog, stevie g is more than just a good finisher, he can create goals from brilliant passes, he can cross a ball, heads it well and when his team needs him to pull something out of the bag, he does it, if he was brazilian, italian, spanish, argentinan then people would be raving about him but because hes english, its par for the course to knock him down, messi cant tackle, head, does that make him not the best player on the planet by far? if you want to talk about overated players then look no further than ryan giggs!!!

But people have raved over Gerrard for years also Giggs is pretty close to being English, wouldn't the rule extend to him, granted he's no Jimmy Corbett but he's been a pretty fantastic player!
Amo Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Oliver Holt wins 'Sports Columnist of the Year' again. Who judges this? His mum?
Backroom Tom Posted March 14, 2012 Backroom Posted March 14, 2012 She does, with the help of Norris and Rita

The term World Class keeps being used to describe him but surely you don't think that he should be in a World X1? Strong player but his personal Anfield comfort zone simply doesn't transfer to the England camp.
