"Fifa stole football from England" http://www.soccerway.com/news/2012/March/14/fifa-stole-football-from-england-says-epl-boss/

I've had similar thoughts for a long time, it's a different game, the international game, even the Champions League is a different game.

Even with people complaining about "relegation", to me watching the Premier League has been footy at its most enjoyable.

The last Euro was mostly all good.

I'll leave it at that.

Astonishing outburst. Not sure I understand why he's trying to get the Qataris to sell alcohol in a tournament a decade away. Seems an odd battle to have, and just perpetuates the problem of English football fans as lager louts. I would have thought the term "when in Rome" would still apply - even in an Islamic country.

It has been for a long time, but IMO the Premier League is in a downfall. It is decreasing heavily in quality. The problem being that English talents are way over-priced and not that very good imo.

You have young talents way better than the English ones flourishing in other leagues.

I thought Everton could have at least had a go last night (and not just in the last 5), a very routine win for Liverpool.

Just finished with a 48 hour fume... that was a difficult match to watch for me. It's Moyes' Tenth anniversary to the day in charge, and he sends out an absolutely sh*te squad. I understand that the FA Cup is important, but is resting a few players really worth the complete demoralization of a 3-0 loss in a derby match?

I've a couple of friends living in Qatar for work, and she says that the government have already had meetings with fifa about alcohol and have acknowledged that they will need to sell alcohol for the tournament and are preparing for it. It is likely to be controlled as to where you can have it, but it will probably be available.

Personally I'm much more bothered by the fact it will be at least 45 degrees which is far too hot for pasty white people like me to survive in!!

So the quality of the league is going downhill. Relegation teams really struggling, top teams performing poorly in Europe. Why does anybody expect Rovers to be a team to take advantage of this? The only teams I can see really taking advantage are a couple of the new boys, but it will be different next season, as it always is. Nobody deserves anything, we all know this.

Last night was great to watch United get trounced. I do hope for a rise in technique in the Premiership. Manchester United will grow from this year on to try and match the likes of Barca and they have bought reasonably well. They just need time to gel. I hope other teams follow suit (not all of course, variety is important) and the Premiership can improve over the next half a decade.

Wigan have had so many chances against WBA in the first half - Ben Foster having a great game. Hopefully the'll come to regret it in the 2nd half as we could do with them losing.

We were in a position to take advantage of the current decline in our league. Trouble is some chicken eating morons came along sacked everyone as they knew best and now we're cannon fodder as well.

We were a much better team than either of Norwich or Swansea prior to all this. Yes next season will be different but we'll still be floating around the bottom with this lot in charge.

United don't need time to gel, they need to buy, they desperately need a central midfield. The premier league won't change unless you change the way people look at football in this country from top to toe. It's not about technique it's about how people want them to play and our obsession with anthropometrics. You can have the technique in the world but if your manager wants it played long? You play it long, why because otherwise you'll be dropped. The lower you go in this country the more direct it gets, in Spain they still play possession football. Culture needs changing not improved technique.

Technically very good but as a spectacle it's dull as dishwater.

I must say though that I have criticised BRFC ever since we came into the prem for not being able to play keep ball and run the clock down in a professional manner (especially when we had the supreme exponent of that in Tugay). It looks easy but passing and moving into space requires lots of effort from the entire team. Unfortunately Tugay (and to a slightly lesser extent Tim Sherwood) could not pass to himself.

Showed players crying on Espn. Not looking good. Only 23. Just horrible.
