Bruce blames hatred for axe

No, it's 'cos you are bloody useless.

It's hard to tell if he actually believes what he's saying here. Saying Newcastle v Sunderland is on the same page as the old firm, or bigger than any of the other big English derbies is just paying lip service to the myth of North East football. Fact is, he got sacked because he failed to meet the expectations of the club, if it was genuinely about Geordie connections he probably wouldn't have got the job in the first place.

Watching him in the touchline last night he looked like he was made for the role. Relaxed, calm, virtually smirking all the time. Probably still pinching himself. Good luck to him I say.

Trouble is, first sign of them going through a bad patch and the fans will want rid. Chelsea really need a period of stability.

Who at Rovers should be taking note?

The way to run a club and the setting up of systems for buying players and also also have players on shortlist in case Key players wants to leave. Plus a good scouting network set up with identify players within a certain price and wage budget. Plus having a good network of scout and very good Chief scout???

who is rovers chief scout? it was Martyn Glover but didn't he leave to join up with Big Sam at WHU.

Exactly chaddy, you need top people with authority in every key position at a football club, who do we have?

As far as we know we have Vinny Rao who is basically Rovers Chairman and Paul Hunt who is basically Rovers MD or CEO, both without the offical title.

Is Simon Hunt Sporting Director? who does that role invovle?

And you think those people will turn this club around like those at Newcastle?

what a player he would have been for us, we got yakubu though and even though yak has done amazingly i cant see him repeating it next season, if hes still here, wheras the likes of newcastle have 2 proper goalscorers!!

I could see both Cisse and Ba leaving them at the end of the season.

They've got a real prudent wage policy these days and will be relying on honour and pride to keep their squad together.

You'd think Newcastle would have heard of agents!

Newcastle fans need to enjoy this season because it won't be repeated. Make no mistake, Mike Ashley will be willing to sell any of those players if the right bid comes in. Tiote and Ba will almost certainly leave in the summer, cabaye will also probably be sold. Ben Arfa and Cisse will probably stay unless big bids come in.

As we've seen at rovers, it gets harder and harder to sell your best players and buy cheaper replacements who are of the same quality.

cant see any newcastle players leaving in the summer, they are building something really good and i bet these players will want to be a part of it, who wouldnt bet on newcastle bringing in samba from his 'russian nightmare' in the summer, they are one quality centreback away from being serious top 4 challengers in my opinion!!!

They "won't be able" to afford his wages. Not unless they go back to the days of spending beyond their means.

We shall see.

Wonder if Nelsen is waxing lyrical to his new Spurs colleagues about the big man though...

Unlike us though Pardew will get to reinvest money he recoups. The Andy Carroll money has gone a long way at the Toon. Those who have been slagging Ashley off need to realise he's put a lot of money into that club, he's 100 million better than Venkys.

Agree that thus far you'd have to say Ashley has come through for the Geordies in terms of current investment.

Not convinced it will last though. If he starts recouping in player sales he can get a lot of his investment back. This season Newcastle have benefited from the league being overall as poor in quality as I can remember, from top to bottom. With a competent management structure (ie Rovers before Nov 2010) we could have been in the top 10 as well.

It makes the fact we're in the relegation zone all the more sad, really.

according to plastic scousers on 'your on sky sports', liverpool are in a crisis and dalglish should walk/be sacked, bunch of tossers, he has just won them a cup and they are still in top 8, potentially 7, yet when we say these things we are hammered for it, media darlings that they are!!!

He's done a poor job there winning the carling cup shouldn't cover that up.

I think it's best for all that they part in summer as he seems to have lost the plot IMO

not premier league but, messi has now got 60 goals this season...in only 50 games. 38 league goals in 30 games!!! Ronaldo has 37 league goals in 30 games!!!103 league goals in the 93 league games for Madrid!!!

Either la liga is p!ss poor or they are the 2 greatest players of all time and united got screwed only getting £80m.

I do like watching saturday evening spanish football, a million #######G miles from the garbage served up at albion.
