Hi Im trying to get my PC to recognise my PS3 and niothing I do allows my PC to see my PS3 through my network. Ive tried media player and a program called PS3 Media Server and yet nothing works. Im running Windows 7 on my PC any suggestions?

Have you enabled the Media Server Connection on the PS3. I think its in the network settings?

Yeah, its really bugging me because it picks my housmates laptop up.

Yeah you can do it through settings in Windows Media Player, there are plenty of guides around.

Yeah, Ive looked at teh various guides yet nothing I seem to do allows the PC to recognise the PS3 even though networking is enabled on the PS3 and like I said eariler it recognises my housemates laptop.

My PC cannot recognize my PS3, however my PS3 can recognize my PC

It's ages since I set up mine, I can't remember what I did.

Have you got your PS3 configured to use a static IP address? If not you need to do this, then configure the Firewall on your PC to allow all connections from that address.

That's the main thing I can think of that would be stopping it at present.

I'd guess your problem is what I wrote above since that suggests we can rule out your home network as being the source of the problem.

Most PCs will instinctively block connections from your PS3 because most firewalls aren't smart enough to separate a safe connection from a dangerous one. You'll have to tell it to allow your PS3 access one way or another.

Agreed, I don't actually need the PC to see PS3. So we are all good in that sense. I have started to use a program called Twonky to link my android to my PS3.
