Neal Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 If we were to look at this window with the perspective that we have no money then we'd be expecting someone like Cisse to sign for a much bigger club than ours. Having seen Vucinic, I'm not struck on him. Cisse seems to be able to do it on the international stage also so for me, he's the on i'd want. Too add to that, it seems that he would be more willing to come and play for us than Vucinic, which is important.
BRFC_Pilkz Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 anyone else want to turn us down and join the list ,we cant attracted anyone lol We don't really need him Robbo,Bunn and Kean are probs better.
he6rt6gr6m Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 True. The only other mentioned interested clubs are Russian. The Russian leagues are OK and produce some decent teams, but if he goes to Russia he'll disappear off much of Europe's radar because many people simply don't follow Russian football. Not sure if at this stage of his career that would be wise. Exactly. And, if anything, the Russian league is a step down from the Bundesliga. The Premier League seems to be a step up in Cissé's opinion. Buy him a nice house in Cheshire, and offer the guy £40k a week, TOPS. If he turns it down, let him naff off to Russia, fade into obscurity and concentrate our search elsewhere. We're not in the position to be elevating stars. We want to elevate the CLUB and get into Europe.
Taggart Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Kamy / glenn / Nicko - is there going to be an 11 O`clocker (or earlier) tonight per chance ?
he6rt6gr6m Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Re: Vucinic, apparently Gabriele Marcotti has posted on twitter that the agent in question is denying the quotes given are accurate. Am assuming he means the one where he calls us 'respectable' but that Vucinic wants to go to a more prestigious club. Interestingly, he's getting a lot of abuse from Liverpool fans for debunking the Sun/Vucinic/Blackburn Rovers article from today, given it's the Sun. The guy's just doing his job, and I respect the guy anyway, so it's a shame people are acting that way towards him.
Neal Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Speaking of Iaquinta, would anyone here take him at Ewood? I'd prefer him over Amauri. He was very unlucky last season, but he's another that does spend time in the physio's room. I still like him. Big, strong, and a sweet right foot. But he's past being a top player for Champions League regulars. Personally, no. He's been terrible for 12 months now and at 31 he's not likely to improve. I find him a rather frustrating player.
Gladiator Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Iaquinta was brilliant for Barcelona in midfield last season Neal
BRFC_Pilkz Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 York City have completed the signing of former Blackburn Rovers' midfielder Michael Potts. Iaquinta was brilliant for Barcelona in midfield last season Neal You Mean Iniesta.
Neal Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Iaquinta scored 4 goals for Juve last season... That's one less than Jason Roberts.

Cissé's options: Blackburn Rovers, Dynamo Kiev, Lokomotiv Moscow, Zenit St Petersburg. Vucinic's options: Blackburn Rovers, Tottenham Hotspur, rumours of Manchester United taking a look, low on the list of Juventus' targets, numerous Italian clubs, numerous Spanish clubs. Not to sound cynical, but Cissé's not even garnered half of the sort of interest Vucinic has. It's no wonder he seems to want to play for us. Not sure how much of him you've seen either. Last season he wasn't great, for one reason or another (read: fans threats towards you and actually attacking your wife while she sat in her car), but the guy is a world class player with an established pedigree.
Gladiator Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I think that this Cisse fella hit his peak when he was at Liverpool. Injury prone also
rovers1995 Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I think that this Cisse fella hit his peak when he was at Liverpool. Injury prone also That was Djibril Cisse, we are after Papiss Cisse
braddock Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I think that this Cisse fella hit his peak when he was at Liverpool. Injury prone also Troll. Dingle, I'm guessing.

Grez Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Iaquinta was brilliant for Barcelona in midfield last season Neal I think that this Cisse fella hit his peak when he was at Liverpool. Injury prone also 2 genius posts... Made me laugh anyway.
Backroom DE. The guy's just doing his job, and I respect the guy anyway, so it's a shame people are acting that way towards him. Yeah, I saw that. But then, it's nothing more than I'd expect from the scousers.
Gladiator Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Neal, do you think that Maurice Edu will be a good signing? He hasn't done much since he left the Bee Gees has he?
he6rt6gr6m Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Iaquinta scored 4 goals for Juve last season... That's one less than Jason Roberts. Roberts played six more games than Iaquinta did last season. I have confidence in saying that Iaquinta would have equaled or even beat Roberts' tally, had he not torn his left quadriceps in March, as well as his thigh injury in January, which forced Juventus to sign Luca Toni. I agree though. He is a frustrating player to watch, but again, that's at Juventus, where expectation is high. Here, I'm sure he'd be allowed to relax more and I personally think his football would improve through it.
BiggusLaddus Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Funny if he is after the clampettsmad board got confused and thought is was that Cisse
Gladiator Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I'm only joking lads! I'm a Rovers fan who happens to know Neal so I thought I'd try and wind him up! I'd take this Cisse fella though, looks a quality finisher

Saw him a couple of times last season, i remember seeing him against Inter where he scored a header. By no means saying he is a bad player, just that i'd rather take the one who's coming out of a very prolific season in an arguably better league (these days). Also, Vucinic has never got anywhere near 22 league goals since 2005 and would probably cost more. In my opinion we need a goal-scorer and based on these stats Cisse is more suited. Hey, if we sign either then it's miles better than what we have. I'm only joking lads! I'm a Rovers fan who happens to know Neal so I thought I'd try and wind him up! Tardyrover Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I think German league players tend to adapt a lot quicker to the prem as did roque first time round.

I do like Vucinic's flexibility on the Left Wing as well though. Both players have their positives. We do need goals, and Olsson and Hoilett can work that LW superbly. Hey, if we sign either then it's miles better than what we have. Can't argue with that. I think German league players tend to adapt a lot quicker to the prem as did roque first time round. It's a sleeping giant, that league. Very rarely is there a crap game. If all leagues points were reset, BuLi would be close to, if not better than the Premier League for entertainment, in my opinion.
