Can't wait to see who we sign now. It's been so long since we've felt hope and optimism during a transfer period it is hard to not get carried away at times. I don't miss that sense of dread thinking, 'Oh great, who is going now?' Hopefully, these signings will come off, and the loss of Samba and Jones won't feel so bad.

On a completely unrelated and off topic note, I've just found out The People's Deputy Features Editor was in the year below me at school.

Should be the priority before any anything else, last thing we want is to lose junior and fork out to replace him, give him a decent contract, put it to bed and move on upwards

Maybe he's waitin to see our ambition in the Market and by the look of the people article I don't see why he shouldn't sign, we've gave him his chance time to show a bit of loyalty which I think he will

I think he'll commit, perhaps a lot is being made of the fact that it hasn't happened yet but behind the scenes i think it's getting sorted in it's own good time. I'm "chilled".

Venkys 10/10 for entertainment with all the jones saga and all these great names linked, exciting times to be a rovers fan . I havnt been this optimistic since sir jacks days

As long as it's more than just names linked, attracting and signing these players is a different matter, hopefully get 1 big name signed and sealed and others may follow, then it will be exciting times!

Why am I an old git Ripley's Love Child?? I'm not offended, just a bit curious.

A bit of an old mans game the press game, no malice ittended Billy

No news on the mystery scouser then. Newell in as DoF perhaps???

Newell now thats a blast from the past, fantastic shout, I thought it might of been rick parry or stevie mcmanamman who as got great credibility in the football world. Didn't man city hire him a few seasons a go ad a sort of d o f

I know there was no malice. I'm not that old, only 30. So she'll be about 29.

As for Newell, it just occured to me that he's a scouser, ex-Rovers player and an ex-manager. So I could see him as a DoF even if it would be a crazy appointment. I'm not sure about McMananamamanamaan, for some reason I can't see him being any good in a board room. Perhaps it is prejudice about footballers and their intelligence.

I figured Nicko was talking about Lowe but he signed a few days ago and is hardly a suprise in terms of age for a head of youth coaching.

Most scousers I can think of either scare me like McManaman and Fowler or really scare me like Anne Roninson and Ken Dodd :)

Saying that Alan Parry might be a shout... not a Rovers fan by any stretch of the imagination, bit old but he has been involved with Wycombe Wanders including being a director there.

Differant Parry same sort of thing though, famous for his football and Formula 1 commentry on the BBC.. you will recognise the voice lol

And Ripleys no just said you would be suprised at the age, hense Alan Parry as he is well in his mid/late 60s I think.

Mike Parry that's it. I like his commentaryactually, and would rather have him than Alan Green.

Anyway, this going off topic, so I'll just reiterate what Nicko said. He said there may be a surprising appointment soon, and he is from Liverpool. His age is also surprising, so he'll either be very young, or very old. And I don't think it was David Lowe.

Is anyone watching the Gold Cup? Giovanni dos Santos and Pablo Barrera have been incredible. Dos Santos just scored a sublime chip at 2v4.

I'd be saying "sign these two up" if I didn't know how crap they actually are in club football. ;)

i dunno. i don't think gio's been given enough of a chance in the pl. He's one of those that really has to gel with his teammates. I think if him and barrera (or another mexican friend) both signed for somebody, it would really help them.

And yes that goal was absolutely incredible. One of those that has to be perfect to work. And it was.
