he6rt6gr6m Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Very interesting to me, all these rumours of us splashing big money for good players yet not ONE SINGLE PEEP is on SSN over here. They seem quick to report our departures but little else, what gives? Because this is without source. Whereas, say, with Phil Jones, they had their own footage, information and sources all over it. At the end of the day, we have Nicko's word and The People/The Mirror. Take that whichever way you will.

roversmum Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Don't worry. 'Arry will have them on his list by the end of the day then they'll make the news...
he6rt6gr6m Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I said we don't need another Tugay in terms of passing ability. Your argument was that we need a Tugay because we don't have somebody who can pass in midfield. I said we have two players who can pass adequately enough and find the wings at a minimum, and Jones can even burst through from time to time. I'm here to offer a counter to your (and anybody elses) opinions, if I disagree with them, as many are so ridiculous. Just because I reply to the more ridiculous quotes doesn't mean I'm ridiculing them. You seem to misunderstand this. They do not need to be ridiculed as they are ridiculous for all to see. Passing is not just about assists. It's a team game and if we are scoring goals from a passing move all the passes involved are of importance. We're missing someone who'll actually crack it from 25 Yards and get it on target. Constant trying to get in behind the defenders... shake it up and let the midfielders have a pop occasionally. Emerton's vs. Wolves was special.
chaddyrovers Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I've posted this comment on the article on SSN just to see if they will approve it. why?????????????? in the article it's qoutes his agent comments are from the LT and I read the same article saturday morning when Sky sports were reporting that we were making a bid for Cisse! Nicko, have me actually made a bid for Cisse yet or just talking to his agent and Club about transfer fees and wages demand? Have Frieburg accept our offer for Cisse?
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 PIATTI...there is nothing to worry about re Atletico Madrid just yet...but Rovers need to get cracking with this one...of all the deals at the high end of the scale the wee man is the easiest to do... I think this one is quite a good test of the ability to turn ambitions into realities. What amazes me is that you can find out his price and the fact that he would come to Rovers... yet our 'negotiators' don't appear to have established either! Out of all the potential signings, this is the one I'd personally be most excited about.
Josh Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Spanish clubs don't have the same problems with permits that British clubs do. Ah, my bad
yeti-dog Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Because this is without source. Whereas, say, with Phil Jones, they had their own footage, information and sources all over it. At the end of the day, we have Nicko's word and The People/The Mirror. Take that whichever way you will. Fair enough..the way I'll take it is...that you've been doubting the veracity of Nicko and his paper a few times recently.A bit of an agenda perhaps, who knows. Anyhow,I'll stick to hearing stuff from Nicko, you're welcome to your SSN.
Oklahoma Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I think you would have a case for a permit - even if it was on appeal. I am going to presume that was looked into. He did play for Sochaux when he was a kid, but not long enough to get a French passport. Spanish clubs don't have the same problems with permits that British clubs do. Spanish teams have however problems with a maximum of non-european players. That's why Salvio, argentinian player, might be out of the squad again like he was last year when he was on loan to SL Benfica. I'm not sure if, by signing Miranda, they'll exceed the number of non european players. And their major problem is selling Kun Aguero. They already told him to make up his mind because their future transfers will depend on it.
Backroom DE. Posted June 26, 2011 Backroom Posted June 26, 2011 We're missing someone who'll actually crack it from 25 Yards and get it on target. Constant trying to get in behind the defenders... shake it up and let the midfielders have a pop occasionally. Emerton's vs. Wolves was special. Hoilett cracked a couple in from long-ish range last season. not quite 25 yards but he looks like he's got a shot on him. getting him signed up should be as big a priority as bringing in these new players.
BangkokRover Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Ah, my bad La Liga has a maximum of 3 foreign players (players that are not European) EPL rule is Currently a non-EU player applying for the permit must have played for his country in at least 75 percent of its competitive 'A' team matches for which he was available for selection during the previous two years, and his country must have averaged at least 70th place in the official FIFA world rankings over the previous two years. If a player does not meet those criteria, the club wishing to sign him may appeal if they believe that he is a special talent and "able to contribute significantly to the development of the game at the top level in the UK

That would be nice.

67splitscreen Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 According to one source, maybe Roberto can confirm. Piatti has deals in place with both AM and Udinese, I assume that Almeria have also accepted the bids from both clubs, is this why Nicko is saying we are over pricing him.
Oklahoma Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Aguero counts as Spanish player easily the best player Ath Madrid have. I know he is their best player but he is also wanted by bigger teams and, if they sell, they can make new signings, including non european players.

Anyhow,I'll stick to hearing stuff from Nicko, you're welcome to your SSN. Just answering the question. Look at it from the point of view of someone like Sky. They might talk about it being in the newspaper when they do the segment for that sort of stuff, but it's hardly hard evidence, is it? Thus, you can understand why Sky Sports aren't running with it. For the record, I'm not the biggest fan of Sky Sports News either. If it isn't Chelsea or Manchester United, they don't want to know. Which is what I thought made Setanta Sports News a much better alternative. Hoilett cracked a couple in from long-ish range last season. not quite 25 yards but he looks like he's got a shot on him. getting him signed up should be as big a priority as bringing in these new players. It's good to have a player that'll do that without being asked to, but I don't see Hoilett doing it much next season. I really hope he does a lot of training with his left peg this pre-season too. The guy will be lethal if he can get a decent shot off with that boot.
RoverPedro Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I know he is their best player but he is also wanted by bigger teams and, if they sell, they can make new signings, including non european players. If has dual nationality then selling him wont make one bit of difference to them being able to sign non eu players as he doesnt count as one. He counts a european player.
BangkokRover Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 If has dual nationality then selling him wont make one bit of difference to them being able to sign non eu players as he doesnt count as one. He counts a european player. And the penny drops
RoverPedro Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 And the penny drops To be fair. Its not difficult.
Oklahoma Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 If has dual nationality then selling him wont make one bit of difference to them being able to sign non eu players as he doesnt count as one. He counts a european player. Let's imagine they sell Aguero for 40 million £. With that money, they decide to buy a southern american star like Neymar, for example. If he doesn't have an european passport, he would be one of 3 non european players they can have. That would make it harder for Miranda to have a place in the Atletico Madrid team for next season...

LeftWinger Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Even if they didnt sell aguero and bought neymar they would still havethe same problem Are you stupid? It's not a difficult point Oklahoma is making. It really isn't.
BangkokRover Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Let's imagine they sell Aguero for 40 million £. With that money, they decide to buy a southern american star like Neymar, for example. If he doesn't have an european passport, he would be one of 3 non european players they can have. That would make it harder for Miranda to have a place in the Atletico Madrid team for next season... From what we know about Atlético Madrid they are selling both Aguero and Forlan which if it happens will generate TON of money on top of what ever they get for De Gea. Now as you said they could buy Neymar, Pele, Maradona or who ever. The problem that Atlético have is while they will have a TON of cash they only have Europa League football to offer who ever they sign. Also if they sign a foreign player they need to have space in their squad for that player. Of course they don't actually need the space until they register their team for the Spanish Season. Atlético are famous for having debt problems but I could not tell if that is still the case.
Backroom DE. Posted June 26, 2011 Backroom Posted June 26, 2011 it's about time Aguero moved on. He should be playing Champions League football and every year he stays at Athletico is a year where his talent is wasted in a lesser European competition, and domestically the best he can realistically hope for is for his team to finish 3rd. Obviously it's nice for a player to be loyal to a club but if the club would also benefit from him leaving then it is win-win.
RoverPedro Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Are you stupid? It's not a difficult point Oklahoma is making. It really isn't. Why is aguero part of the equation? They could sell any european in their squad and signing neymar would make it difficult to sign miranda as both are non eu players. So no im not stupid and the point oklahoma is making is pointless
Hughesy Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 :!: Dont sign him....not got the right mentality! Too expensive anyway! Vucinic deserves more prestigious club
