Kamy100 Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Sounds very promising. Any idea on what the specific objectives were - ie are we targetting players based on the type of football kean wants to play or is it based on ability, price and future sell on value? From what I am led to believe, the process that has been gone through has resulted in a list of expensive players and a list of cheaper ones. I assume that they are going to bid for the expensive ones first and see which ones they can land before moving onto the cheaper alternatives.

Manoid Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Are Rovers restricted by the European transfer window not being open until next Friday? Can we bid before then?
nicko Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I am led to believe that last week was spent identifying targets and working out which ones are affordable or not. That process is now complete. Rovers will now be moving forward and making bids for the players that I have identified over the next week or so. It seems that this whole process has been done in a very specific way with clear objectives and been handled by Kentaro. Perfectly and accurately put.
SAS Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Are Rovers restricted by the European transfer window not being open until next Friday? Can we bid before then? No, a deal can be signed but cannot be finalised. I.e registration I believe.
Paul Mellelieu Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Perfectly and accurately put. If that's the case, and this is a serious point, does the club still need a scouting operation, if it been effectively been outsourced to Kentaro?
chaddyrovers Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Please can Kean and the owners start putting bids for players we want THIS WEEK! Sign the players we want and get rid of players we don't want and Most Important get in there before other clubs get in first!!!
nicko Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 If that's the case, and this is a serious point, does the club still need a scouting operation, if it been effectively been outsourced to Kentaro? From what I gather the scouting reports are being called on...but the lists are being compiled and checked through by Kentaro's TOP people. The interesting bit is getting these deals closed. Do other agents object to this or not? Probably not if the agents and their players are getting good deals. So far it is pretty impressive - names beyond many expectations including mine. However it means diddly until the players are signed.
chaddyrovers Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I guess the Kentaro top people are Jerome Anderson and Philipee Hunber! I hope we can signed a couple of people this week before Pre season starts next week
RoverRich Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 What I do find encouraging about the likes of Cisse, Rondon and Piatti who we are looking at is that they will be arriving from clubs who are of a relatively similar standing to Rovers in their leagues (maybe not so much Almeria but especially Freiburg and Malaga). They have all been outstanding at these clubs and with Cisse and Rondon scoring the amount of goals they have done for mid tables sides show that they must have a bit about them and improves the likelihood of them being able to do it for us. Bring them two in and then set them up with Piatti out wide and we could be in a great position. All of them would have come from strong leagues so hopefully they would hit the ground running, IF they were to sign for us of course. I really hope they do! Get it sorted ASAP Rovers! If Piatti is small and weak (I haven't seen him so can't say) then it would be imperative to get him in early so that he can settle in, adapt, improve his fitness, bulk up etc if necessary during pre-season.

If Piatti is small and weak (I haven't seen him so can't say) then it would be imperative to get him in early so that he can settle in, adapt, improve his fitness, bulk up etc if necessary during pre-season. Maybe that is the reason we should give Dunn a new contract?
chocky Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Wonder if they have any more kids that we need to sign? Maybe that is the reason we should give Dunn a new contract? He said bulk up not bulk out..
Hughesy Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 BBC's South American football guy was talking about how South American generally struggle to adapt to the English way of life/English game. I've always been of the same viewpoint (Villenueva anyone). Seems like Venkys want half the squad to be S American. Perhaps they do struggle, but usually they are the 'odd one out' - having 3-4 south americans would surely help others. My big concern however is with targets we are going for seems like ollson is being lined up for LB and I think that would be a huge loss to our LW not to mention he's average to poor at LB! If Piatti is signed, then its highly unlikely Olsson would play on the left, unless Piatti is slotted into the hole. If that's the case, and this is a serious point, does the club still need a scouting operation, if it been effectively been outsourced to Kentaro? Surely the scouts check out the talent and feedback reports on key qualities etc. I think looking at the list, it has brought up far better quality players than we are ever linked with....better than your Benjanis, Carews and Luca Tonis!!

For ages now we have had many of us claiming that the Kentaro connection was akin to signing a deal with the Devil. I am hoping this will actually support my optimistic view that there can be positives about Kentaro being connected to the Rovers. The evidence, of course, will only come when the signings are made. Very interesting and with some positive indications if the planning is as structured and thoughtful as Kamy infers. So far, so good?

Dont say Luca Toni isnt top class we all know he has been at brockhall every year for the past 10 transfer windows haha Toni as striker coach
nicko Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I guess the Kentaro top people are Jerome Anderson and Philipee Hunber! Huber is Kentaro's main man...

Been saying the same myself since day one, but lets see what happens. This transfer window has already been the most exciting in years, certainly beats being linked with player like James Beattie etc. Venkys are going about their business unconventionally that’s sure, an approach that has ruffled many peoples feathers, but maybe, just maybe things will work out for the good of Blackburn Rovers and that’s what we all want isn’t it.

There has been a lot of hysterical views about Kentaro but we may be onto a winner if they can bag some of these players that have been mentioned. I know some people will go on about how much money Kentaro will make on these deals but personally I don't think Venkys are in the business of being ripped off. Hopefully we can bag some of these players then we can stick two fingers up at the rest of the football world who have been taking the pish out of us for the last few months !
AmazinTim Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Nicko - great stuff, thanks for keeping us updated here. Can't wait to see some of these guys in the paper holding up Rovers shirts.
UtopianParadigm Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pablo_Piatti Already playing for us as number 11! Haha! Who was it, eh?
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Got to be honest I dont care how the players get here or who signs them so long as they arrive. If we can sign the calibre of player akin to Piatti then I dont give a damn who's involved. Kentaro are here to bring in players, so far it all sounds very promising. It'll mean nothing if they dont arrive however..
Rover & Out Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Olsson has the makings of a brilliant attacking full-back, he just needs to work on his defensive game. He's put in some good performances on the left wing but I don't feel he has the consistency to hold down that position, particularly if we bring in players of Piatti's quality in that position. It would be much easier to develop his defensive game and he can do just as much damage to the opposition on the overlap.

I agree, but there's also the argument that if we really augment the potency of our attack he'll have less defending to do anyhow as it'll be our opponents who'll have to concentrate on THEIR defensive problems...
