67splitscreen Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 If that's the case, and this is a serious point, does the club still need a scouting operation, if it been effectively been outsourced to Kentaro? Cisse's agent says our scouts have watched him around ten times. My link

Athlete Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Got to be honest I dont care how the players get here or who signs them so long as they arrive. If we can sign the calibre of player akin to Piatti then I dont give a damn who's involved. Kentaro are here to bring in players, so far it all sounds very promising. It'll mean nothing if they dont arrive however.. I agree pal as does any one actually believe anything venkys say ???? it sounds promising at the moment but promising and delivering are two different things
Neal Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Argentina's most successful side... River Plate, have just been relegated tonight! They have some good young talent e.g. Lamela, Lanzini, Funes Mori. They would be the kind of signings we would be interested in these days.

teddy Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 cant be that good talent if they just got relegated  we almost got relegated yet bigger clubs thought we had talent in jones and samba,
Hughesy Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 J.Jones to Hamburg? Any truth in that? Doubt it - earlier his agent said he wants to stay at Blackburn
Fylde Coast Fan Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 cant be that good talent if they just got relegated  Argentine relegation doesn't work like ours. They play two leagues a year and the two teams with the worst average position over their last six seasons in the top division get relegated. There were worse teams in Argentina this year but they'd all recently come up and had OK seasons before they went down, so River got the boot. I'd imagine there'll be a lot of people picking that corpse.

The fans must be completely devastated. Onto signings, Lamela is great but he has attitude problems, same with Funes Mori. Both very good talents I admit.

There'd be penalty after penalty awarded/sendings off etc in this country in similar circumstances. I always thought Argentina had a reputation for corruption, but this rather proves otherwise. In this instance anyway.
Oklahoma Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Lamela and Funes Mori will come to Europe soon, specially now that River was relegated. A lot of teams are interested... As for relegated teams, the "best" player of the year in England got relegated, remember?

Balwer Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Bit harsh that. England has seen massive clubs like Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle all go down. Not really sure what you're on about to be honest. they don't compare to River Plate though, it was the only team to play in the top division through all 100 years or so, and won what...25 or 30 times? It's like Real getting relegated. Not saying I agree with the corruption comment though.
Hekla Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 33 titles in 110 year history, they have never been in a lower league.
braddock Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I do enjoy a big team going down now and again. There is only room for the current top teams in the top division. If you aren't one then you go down, simple as.

There'd be penalty after penalty awarded/sendings off etc in this country in similar circumstances. The average result over 6 seasons thing is meant to protect the big teams. You can be rubbish one year, but if you're a big club you'll expect to make it up in the other seasons. The thing with River is that they'd manage to be consistently rubbish for 4 out of the past 6 seasons. They would have been down long ago in Europe but their results in the last decade have held them out of relegation until now! Anyway, transfers, I'd hope we could at least get someone who's old enough/experienced enough for the 1st team...
leerovers1980 Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 when do rovers players report back for pre season training ?
JW11 Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 been a pretty quiet* night hoping for something big in the morning!

In this instance anyway. The average system was brought in from the first instance of relegation, sometime in the 80s. The big clubs fought against it and so the three year average thing was put in, basically to protect them from being sent down by one bad performance. Until now it seems to have worked.
47er Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I think you are right there about MGP as a FB. However I also have severe reservations about Ollson as an out and out LB too. As things stand at present I think he is too inexperienced in that position and it shows. His ability to read the danger signs and to choose the right option, along with the ability to read and position himself has been exposed many times to our cost. As he plays more and more as a wing back or a winger he will develop this skill and may eventually become a skillful FB, but not just yet. If we are making mass signings-----6 players or more, it does seem ridiculous that we have no specialist left-back! Same goes for a lock-picker imo.

HemelRover Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Who says we are making mass signings ? One person. Wrong, at least 2. Kamy100 and Nicko(apologies to anyone else I've forgotten, I've been awake since 4am with a feverish teething 10 month old)
