Let's hope Rochina hits the ground running and Kean gives him a shot against Wolves alongside a potential new strike partner.

I am glad in a way that VucInic is not coming and Cisse is quoted as wanting to come to Rovers. Cisse seems a lot more prolific in front of goal with 22 goals in Germany last season so I hope we see developments on him in the next week or so.

Morning all! Is there any action on the transfer front Nicko? Hope for some good news.

Any news on Hoilett contract?

Any news on signing players?

Any bids received?

Any bids made?

Should be a fantastic week?

Whis is the day rovers start preseason training?

I can answer the last one it's Wednesday. Training camp in Austria back for a few games vs Accrington and Morecambe then to Hong Kong for Asia Trophy with a PR stop off in Pune possibly a game not sure then back for a game against Kilmarnock a week before the big kick off Vs Wolves

Im guessing all the relevant paper work and negotiations with almost be complete this week for the players we want and I think we will announce 2 or maybe 3 new signings on Fri when the European window opens. Fingers crossed. I have never been as excited before a season starts as I have since Mr Walker and King Kenny where splashing the cash. :brfcsmilie:

dont want to sound negative, but all this talking is making me nervous. Its not the 1st time, where we are linked with players, only for agents, clubs etc to come out and deny any sort of communication. IF we have identified targets already, and as I understand it, this was done a couple of weeks ago when Kean went to India, then by now, bids should have been lodged already.

Its easy to be interested in a player, but unless we actually make contact and offer the money those clubs want, we will never sign those players. We have the money, why try and negotiate a cheaper price, and risk losing out on the player. Some players, you could try and lower the asking price, but some like Cisse, Piatti, Rondon etc are talented enough players, for us to say "okay, you want x amount, here you go"

Then some players like Robbie Keane eg, Spurs might want 6mill, we can then say" hang on, he aint worth that amount of money because of whatever reason" so negotiate to drop the price.

Take the risk by spending the cash, or go back and dip into the bargain bin if we are afraid of wasting money. If we want to move forward and challenge for trophys, Europa etc, then we have to be brave, and sometimes pay over the odds to get the player/s we want.

I don't think you are being negative iceman, I think you have hit the nail on the head with regards to the situation we are currently in.

If Venkys want to take the club forward they will need to pay big money to get good players in.

It sounds as though we've done our ground work and identified a number of targets, they’ve been sounded out with some success by all accounts. The European window isn’t open as yet, so things seem slow, but hopefully we’ll have a few new faces on board by mid-July, which by Rovers standards is surely a bonus.

Sit tight and watch things unfold.

like I said Gav, without sounding negative, if targets have been identified, prices known then surely by now bids should be in for the likes of Cisse. When you have agents coming out and saying, no bid has been received, then you have to question, the type of Game we are playing at. I understand it is tsill very much early days, but, while mose clubs are fast asleep, it’s the ideal time to nip in, and strike. You don’t want a situation, where the likes of Spurs, Villa etc realise that there is an oppportunity to hijack the move, because we all know, that if it came down to a bidding war, and player choice, we know that we will not be top of the pile. Got to take a risk, and say we are ambitious, our owners are ambitious, so make the deal happen and then have time to prepare while other clubs are still finding their feet.

Would the agent not be one of the last people to know a bid has been lodged? Surely the club receives the bid then notifies the agent to begin wage negotiations if the club accepts the bid.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not at all worried by the pace of things. If Cisse wants to come to Rovers, to play/prove himself in the Premier League, he'll hold out to at least speak with us. Taking our time is an attribute to be commended. I'd guess they've been working out who the main priorities are, how much they expect to pay them in wages and what that means in relation to what wages can be offered to incoming players. So, if Cisse's demands are at the top of their estimate and he is the No. 1 target, they have adjusted figures to offer to players that they negotiate with afterwards. Which is surely the best way to go about business..?

I haven't seen N'Koulou mentioned anywhere before, but I think he would be a TOP signing. MUCH rather have him than J. Jones, considering the 9 year age difference.

Do you not think the players we are linked to are any good?

I think he believes that they've just drawn up a list of names and nothing else.

Again, I'd remind him that, chances are, thorough investigation, budgeting, contingency planning and scheduling were the likely topics of conversation. Not, as it appears he believes, a chat as such:

Anderson: So, I've been told you like the look of some players.

Kean: Yeah, that Cisse looks alright.

Anderson: Yeah, so he does.

Kean: Yeah, great, we should look at buying him.

Anderson: Ok. Brew?

Well this deserves a huge round of applause we have drawn up a list!!!!

God knows what all our scouts and Kentarovers have been doing since January - tea break?

Don't knock progress. If we were still under the Trust they'd be licking their own testicles at this moment in time pondering how good they taste and how best they could invest the money from PJones into Flybe. Hindsight is a great thing...you aren't using it. The Trust would have let us go to the dogs. Enjoy this rare treat.

If you ignore being linked to Keane then yes the list is impressive. Getting them is a different matter entirely. This transfer window will make or break Kean, Kentaro and to a lesser extent Venky's.

I would be interested to find out who might be on our 'B list', getting most of those players on that 'A list' I imagine would be difficult and if we get two or three we would have done incredibly well. If they have plans to strengthen all the areas they have identified with their star list then I wonder who from their 'B list' they would look at to fill the gaps.
