Hitzelberger is drab he has never been a good player never mind at this moment in time, just cause he scored one screamer doesn't mean he would be a good addition to our team.

German correspondent pm talksport yesterday said he was drab and that in Germany they think

he should retire, and the guy knows his stuff

He can't be worse than Grella.

Reality is there is STILL 9 ½ weeks until the window closes

Reality is – people need to sit back and wait

Which is why its absolutely ludicrous for people to be slamming Venkys for not making any signings so far.

Now is the time to be linked with players, close of the window is the time to judge.

Roberto, any news about Pablo Piatti there?

Here in Portugal, they mention Benfica wants him but there is no mention to Rover's interest in him.

Still up in the air,Udinese are in Barcelona today to try and sort out Sanchez one way or another.Barcelona not happy with City.God knows why Udinese just don't close the deal out,Sanchez will definitely leave.

Atletico's interest in Piatti is long standing as is Malaga's.

Like Alan said, the deal can happen if you move quickly and decisively, all other deals are at a stop.

IF steve Kean and the Venkys want too get rid of any negaivity towards them and give season ticket sales a good boost they should do all they can to bring in cisse+piatti this week, show they really do mean buisness and trying to build a very attack minded squad.

stating the obvious i know.

please dont sign robbie kean though, id even take RSC over him.

No the latest news suggests Kean has the £16m we receive NOW for Jones + another £14m.

How can they be putting in the extra £4m for Jones when we dont have it yet, so clearly they are putting extra on top.

Reality is we are now being linked with players like Cisse (£13m), Piatti (£8m) instead of your Beatties, Carew’s and Fayes. (Yes we havent signed them yet - but usually most clubs dont have their signings in the bag by yet)

Hitz would be an ideal signing to knock Grella and Andrews down the pecking order. Maybe not as flash as some of the signings mentioned but he was fantastic for West Ham in the last six months and my West Ham mate thinks they would have been cut adrift way before without him.

I agree with you both, sadly i fear you are wearing away the skin on your fingers, some seem to revel in negativity and despair.

Exactly because we could even afford Carew, Beattie or Faye! It was that desperate.

I think we all know Ronaldinho was over the top ambitious and Becks never really got going either.

Our targets are much more realistic and we seem to know the sort of prices we will need to pay....now is the time to give it 2 or 3 weeks to see what comes of those targets. I can gaurantee most signings will happen after July 22nd as thats when im away, and it ALWAYS happens when im not here!

There are signifcant benefits in bringing in players sooner rather than later in the window, the main obvious one being that they will be a part of pre-season allowing them to gel with other players plus get used to the manager's tactics.

Rovers have also lost one of their best players and there is talk of another star player possibly leaving as well. They need to bring in someone to show that Rovers aren't just selling their best players, they are in fact bringing quality into the club as well which will have an impact on fans, current players, any targets and the media. The longer it drags on the more fans will become restless.

Agreed - however MOST players, especially in Europe are still on their hols, its only around this week they start to come back and then the next week or two clubs return to pre-season.

There's nothing clear about that at all. That's your interpretation.

Go pi** off now then!

Realistically, so as long as we replace Jones and get in 1 or 2 freebies, the fans can't really complain.

I'd like to see the signings in before/during pre-season, buying them once the season has started just takes longer for the player to settle into the squad, and we need the best possible start too for confidence purposes.

I am pleased with the caliber on the list, lets face it if we land one of those linked its the best we will have had for years.

Also i don't get us turning our noses up at Robbie Keane, if the price is right he could be a gem, he is an intelligent player who has had an awful couple of years, meaning he has a lot to prove, if he has anything about him, he wont want to fizzle out with people remembering his last few years.

He is not 31 yet so i say get him in cheap put an arm round him and pair him with a player with pace and i think he would be a very good player for us. His link up play and not goals would be his strength IMO

Deals can still be done with clubs with and players often cancel or cut short their holidays if a move is on the cards- there is a lot at stake for the player here, money, chance to move to a better league etc.

You can't dispute the fact that the LT does re use stories. Nicko always comes across as being for more well informed than Mr.Cryer and therefore i'm more inclined to believe what he says. The 'reality' is we as a club are in a far better off position at the moment than we have been in years! even if we make 3 signings who collectively only cost £10million it's still an improvement on than the last 10 or so years. I can't comprehend how people are being negative without real incentive.

It's probably best to take balanced view JW11 and to resist pulls in either direction until something actually happens. So far we have a couple of folk contemplating hurling themselves off a tall building and the rest creaming themselves at the thought of what might be. Both strange positions IMO. Maybe there's a third camp of 'non-fantasist' in which case I'll subscribe to that one.

Any negativity is probably an attempt to bring everyone back down to earth, so far nothing has happened. Venky's still have to live with their past actions, they have constantly talked the talk but not delivered much/anything depending on your point of view. This will change - at least we all hope it will - and at which time a Venky's reputation of walking the walk will become the default position, but right now it's not and they still have all the running to make.

As for Mr Cryer's material, you should be more understanding he's a good chap. Given that absolutely nothing has happened he has to fill the pages somehow or else we're all going to be looking at blank sheets. Show me any paper that doesn't recycle when necessary, probably better than making stuff up. I prefer Cryer's stuff over the red tops even if it is a little more pedestrian, the red tops shout out any rumour in circulation and then when one comes in they print that you read it here first. Let's just count up all the named threads here on the transfers sub forum and let's check later how many actually turned up. If they're not going to turn up what's the point of wasting column inches??

so what is stopping, 2 clubs from agreeing a fee? The player in question doesnt have to be involved in that process. He can either talk to the club, or reject the opportunity to move to another club. The key is, to GET a bid in

Ok im sure your a clever guy Den.

The LT states £30m as you mentioned - we receive £16m upfront for Phil Jones....therefore what would you say Venkys are putting in to get that £30m budget? Il think you will find its not my interpretation, its common sense.

- apart from, at this moment in time, we are considerable weaker. We have a lot to do by simply replacing PJ, JJ, and the two strikers who have left - as well as keeping hold of Junior.

It is your interpretation. For all we know it could be a Bank Loan or some other sort of loan Venky's have taken out against Rovers. Not saying this is the case, but just saying there is more than 1 interpretation to this scenario, which is also 'common sense'.

I don't know Hughesy. The LT said "around" 30m - so the obvious starting point here is 16m for PJ, plus whatever Venky's put in theirselves, which assuming they forward two transfer windows cash at 5m/window is 26m. But I don't know what the end figure will be. I'm just trying to say that whenever posters try to bring the reality of the situation, in other words how things actually are now, they get derided for being negative.

Why do we automatically assume we haven't? We(as fans) are in no way party to the backroom scene at our club. Our only inkling of what goes on comes from our very own Nicko and what is reported in the rest of the press and neither one of those has it set in stone. None of us know how far down the road negotiations are for players, so instead of behaving like spoilt kids in a sweetie shop (I want I want I want!) How about we accept that these things take time and just enjoy what must be the most exciting window for years. ;)
