Spurs money problems are not new news.

Spurs also announced that their turnover had increased 49% to £79m. Thats while they are in the Champions League which I think they did really well in. Failure to qualify again this season means they have to sell or take on debt.

But they do have lots of players who will interest EPL teams, way to many to list here.

What are you on about? Spurs' turnover must be about £130M with the CL money last season, and they spend perhaps 60% of their turnover to wages. Spurs are doing very well financially, and their owner is a billionaire (Forbes, not rumoured).

I don't believe that Spurs do have to sell to get money for players, they are financed by a billionaire who has bankrolled the majority of their recent spending (Joe Smith if I'm not mistaken).. Common sense would say that Harry has been told to trim the squad as they do seem to have a huge number of players. That would free up some wages to allow them to get the bigger name players in.

We should be looking at a few of these players looking to leave to bolster our squad. I think Keane would be good for us, at the moment better than we have although I hope that will change soon!

Why has it all gone quiet over reo coker. Surely he would fit in sir midfield and is free.

personaly i dont want him near are club, twice we have been in for him and he has said he wasnt interested cause we werent big enough club for him, i want a player who wants to wear are shirt in pride and fight for this club i dont see re coker as that player, a few of my mates are villa fans as well and they say he a great player but his attitude stinks

Because he is poo. Better than Andrews but that isnt hard!

I'd rather have someone better in than him. I think it speaks volumes that he isn't really being hounded by other clubs either

Yes RTH, that's right.

Steve Kean wont know how much is available as transfer funds at this point.

I am sure he does know what the transfer budget is or else the meetings that he has had in the past few weeks would of been a waste of time and air fare

it's clearly in the £30m region as other posts and LT have stated with the majority of that coming from the sale of Phil Jones. without that we were probabbly looking at a summer budget of £10-15m at most so something to thank Jones for in a way that we can invest his transfer fee in 3 or 4 players.

Demba Cisse - 13m Anyukov - 4m Javi Marquez - 7m Pablo Piatti - 7m =31m thats if all first bids are accepted then you have to take in wages and signing on fees and image rights will these players want clauses in contracts, what will they be, it could be that say for instance we sign Cisse at 13m he has a stormer of a first season and Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd or City come a knocking and offer 20million. it's clear from the Jones transfer that is the way it's going to work, buy young upcoming players (we hope) let them show what they are made of and if they are a sucess sell on for profit.

This doesn;t make us a selling club to balance the books like before it makes us a trading club. it's just nice to have a change from picking up players on the cheap such as Santa Cruz, Bentley, Duff from the Academy set up and having to sell them on to balance the books and minimal re investment in playing staff.

I too would like the club to start bidding on these players that have been mentioned but understand that factors such as wages and clubs and agents will be looking to get the best deal for them just as much as we look to get the best deal for us. there's no point in doing a Leeds spending big bucks offering big wages only to see us have a flash in Europe and struggle maintain our league status. ni am sure something will come good this summer it's just over to the clubs to sort it out and make it happen....

It wont have been a waste of time putting together a list of targets.

However, they could only know the money available for transfer fee outlay, if they knew what the wage demands are beforehand - which they wont. The only other option is to fund any wage demands that they meet - and they wont do that either. So it will be a balance between fees and wages and there's no way Venky's can know how that will work out at this point.

All in my opinion of course.

The headline agreed fee is normally at least spread over the term of the contract or at very least two or three instalments after the initial payment.

£30m could in theory buy you £????m in players.

Chances are that with someone like Cisse, if we sold him in two years time we mat still owe a few million to his previous club.

having said that it seems more and more clubs are now going for heavy payments if not all up front, which I believe is all part of the new FFP rules which transfers in this window will come under.

and ??? dont get your points

Think they're just saying they've soiled themselves.

Someone said earlier that Piatti had pretty much signed but it was a friend relaying information from a work colleague. Don't get yourselves as excited as I did before checking websites for a confirmation. Two/three hours since and nothing.

Tottenham Hotspur in profit thanks to Champions League

The club made pre-tax profits of £4.2m ($6.76m) during the last six months of 2010, up from a loss of £8.3m over the same period the previous year.

Turnover increased 49% to £79m.

Tottenham are ownen by ENIC Group and not a single person. The club is run a business and not Joe Lewis play thing like Citeh or Chelsea.

How can I put this...

If you want to do the Cisse and Keane deals the hard part will be sorting out the pay deals of the players.

If you know what I mean.

Agreeing fees with Freiburg and Spurs would be more straightforward.

You don't bid for someone - and then sort out their terms - if you are trying to make a splash as seems to be the case with the new Rovers owners.

At least I hope that is why no bids have been forthcoming for either today.

Seriously surely those calls to the agents have already taken place. Otherwise how does anyone know if the player wants to join Rovers. The next question is obviously how much for wages.

are you saying that we have spoken or are speaking to the respective players agents regarding personal terms and then working on a fee for the player
