he6rt6gr6m Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Why is Kean keen on Keane? Dear God, that is AWFUL.

Andrew__Morris Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 is there a reason why cisse isnt in the Senegal squad for tonights game against Peru ? Because he doesn't want to get injured before his medical at Brockhall...hopefully
Bobby G Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 If the Piatti deal is one ready for us to pounce on, then it says a lot by it not happening... But as most people say, lets wait and see.

It could say quite a lot of things. Only those at the top will know. Will be interested to see what is speculated here though.
newfan Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 After reading each and every message in this topic i am really disheartened by Robbie Keane(what is SK thinking) linked to rovers i am off and will only return AUG 13.
Tardyrover Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I hope we aren't trying to shift other teams players by being linked with then !!! That's not a Kentaro/Anderson trait is it?

Ripleys love child Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 article from one week back, not a new one Thank god for that, any news on holliet nicko? Really are starting to get worried
roverandout Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 saviola, another new poster, who is probably a nay-sayer.
Black Burn Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Thank god for that, any news on holliet nicko? Really are starting to get worried Someone once said Holliet isn't a priority, as in they are focusing on signing new players first as those matters are the most complicated and difficult to deal with. New contracts with Holliet can supposedly wait because it's much easier for him to sign on the line than it is for us to sign entirely NEW players. I could have misread his words or remembered wrongly, though.

The kids got a fantastic future and should of been no1 on the priority list IMO I could have misread his words or remembered wrongly, though.
Oklahoma Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 you would have thought getting are number one striker in is the main priority so why waste time on keane right now, we need a signing to get the fans believing, keane as are first signing isnt really going to get us optimistic what are they playing it Ever tought that it is possible to have negotiations with more than one team at a time? Specially because we need more than one striker... We should be talking to 2 or 3 strikers...
Ripleys love child Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Sorry bout last post????? Sorry bout last post?????

BPF Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I can't work out why I don't find it funny BPF. Keane, on the one hand, is past his best but given his role as a second striker he surely has to be better than Dunn in terms of his legs? But while we haggle over the price of Keane, we could miss out on more important targets - possibly even to Spurs. We need to move on Keane quickly, or quickly move on. I don't want to be negative but this is the situation as I understand it: There are two lists. There is a desired players list and a back up players list. Does this not seem awfully familiar to last season's Takeover List & Non Takeover list? My worry with the situation is this: A good number of players approached have either not considered us in their league / have proved to be too costly. How long do we let this go on for? I'm terrified of us getting closer to August and through sheer desperation pulling off several Nathan Blake style signings. Fingers crossed though ey. The next two weeks are going to be indicative of the entire window for us, mark my words.
chaddyrovers Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Keane arriving is fine provided we land our first choice targets as well. If Cisse/Piatti et al arrive then Keane coming is hardly a problem. Really want to hear some progress on Piatti in the next couple of days. I agree with you. Lets get Cisse and Piatti sign up this week or so. And then we can start looking forward to next season!

I'm happy with the ambition, but it needs to be done, not talked about. 7m they must be joking. Please, no. Can't imagine why we want this dude anyway - except to stop him from scoring against us and he's plainly lost his touch there. Do we never learn?
Backroom DE. Posted June 27, 2011 Backroom Posted June 27, 2011 My worry with the situation is this: A good number of players approached have either not considered us in their league / have proved to be too costly. How long do we let this go on for? I'm terrified of us getting closer to August and through sheer desperation pulling off several Nathan Blake style signings. This has been my concern for some time. It's well and good showing ambition and saying we're going to go for elite, world class players... but we cannot offer any european competition, have no current world class players here, have a nobody as a manager and can at best only match the wages being offered by clubs in european competition. Venky's ideas are nice but it almost seems like they're trying to run before they can walk. We don't necessarily need world class players right now, we need decent players - younger or older - who still have a point to prove. If we can reach the Europa League next season we'll have a bigger chance of nicking some higher class names. In the meantime I think we'll struggle, and only silly wages could tempt a star player to join us. The only advantages we have is Kentaro - a dubious positive at best - and the fact we play in the Premier League. Unfortunately if bigger clubs in England, Italy, Spain, or Germany come in for the players we're going for those advantages are dimished considerably imo.
Torgeir Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Lack of confidence does not make you slow. Never his biggest fan but for all his faults, Jase the ace has been consistently quick over the ground even when his confidence has been rock bottom. Hitting that cow's backside has been his problem Keane was never that quick. He had quick turns and a small burst of pace, but I don't think he relies too much on it. He's soon 31, that's not old in modern football. I don't want to be negative but this is the situation as I understand it: There are two lists. There is a desired players list and a back up players list. Does this not seem awfully familiar to last season's Takeover List & Non Takeover list? Very worrying, and in light of this it's even more worrying that we're not pouncing for Piatti, which seems like a highly doable deal.

Backroom Tom Posted June 27, 2011 Backroom Posted June 27, 2011 What is worrying is if Keane is the first player we have put a concrete offer in he may be top of the list, I dread to think who may be further down. As BPF said though what we don't want is to be knocked back by everyone and end up with another Kalinic near deadline day. Hope this week has good news.
