Summer 2011 Transfer Window Part Two

Not just me getting into a cold sweat.

It's still all talk the talk. Talk, talk, rumour, rumour.........................watch this space............

You'll be watching for the next few weeks. Sadly.

Also, it has been mentioned that deals are not done until July. How come Man Utd have signed three cracking players and Liverpool one, also, without waiting for July?

the young, jones and henderson deals are fine, because the english window opened on the 1st of june

the july 1st is the european and you can still sign before then just like newcastle have been doing, and united have with de gea.

Give it a damn rest. You have no idea how well Kean can do in the transfer market. At least give the guy a chance. If he fails this summer then fine, he'll deserve criticism. Until then I see no benefit in trying to throw more mud in his direction just for the sake of it. Hughes and co did well because we gave him a chance. Kean will have the same opportunity.

Sorry, but I think that it's a perfectly valid observation.

As said before, it's the Dalglish v Mackay scenario.

Shearer would not have come to Rovers other than for Dalglish.

Would Vucinic have been so dismissive if, say, Harry Redknapp was Rovers' boss ?

However, IMO, our achilles heel is Kean. None of the targets will know too much about him. Contrast his familiarity and respect in the game with the likes of Jol, Mark Hughes, Hodgson and, yes, even Big Sam.

A 'smaller' club saddled with a manager with little drawing power will inevitably find it difficult to land the better quality of player even if prepared to offer big wages.

I'll go with that, Phil Jones certainly didnt want to play for him and big Samba doesnt want to play for him are there anymore one has to ask at Rovers who dont want to play for the little man.

I think people need to be realistic, even if the owners aren't.

We're a small town club, who narrowly escaped relegation, and who have just lost arguably their best player - top players aren't going to jump at the opportunity of moving here.

I'll admit, I think we desperately need a top quality striker who can score goals, but players like Robbie Keane would be good additions and would walk into our starting XI (though £7m is stupid money).

We should view this season as a rebuilding and stabilizing season. If we can get two or three good players who can improve the starting XI, then that would be a good start.

Funny that both Jones and Samba don't seem to agree with you - they wanted to move onto better things - nothing to do with the manager.

Comment from Jason Brown - somebody I would have thought would have an axe to grind with the current manager after not renewing his contract :-

"“There are going to be a lot of people writing them off but you can’t because of the ability they have got in the squad and the manager that they have got.

“It’s going to be a difficult ask. Steve Kean is a fantastic coach, he’s a fantastic guy. He was great with myself there."

Surley if we can agree a fee for Cisse and Piatti then it should be easy to convince them to leave their current clubs. I'm sure Almeria and Frieburg are decent clubs but they are a lot smaller than us and i'm sure we have far better facilties than them.

Should also be possible to get Rondon or Damiao from their respective clubs. I think we can assume we're not in for Piatti if no move yet (disappointing especially if Vincente arrives).

If Keane comes for a penny over £3 million then I think we all know which way this window is heading...

You could argue that Samba didn't want to play for Sam either, except no one came in with a bid.

And of course, Santa Cruz didn't want to play for him either, that's why he joined City.

Or maybe those players, like many before them, just wanted to move to bigger clubs?

Duuuuuuuuuuuuhhh.....

why is someone just creating groups of players names with there wikipedia's ???

robbie keane for a decent fee would be quite a good signing - hes not had a good time since leaving tottenham first time around - but no doubt hes a good player ....i still think we should be looking at a few of tottenhams players ie bentley , palacios , bassong

If Venkys came out now and said "Actually we've found out just how tough it is and we've decided to change the way we move forward" then I think us fans will accept that, despite being disappointed. If they continue to talk big and not deliver then it will annoy the fans a lot more.

Good luck to them.

The worry is pissing the £30 million up the wall on has been's like R Keane - players that will have no resale value. We have 'experience' up front - we need some younger talent. Sack off the 'worldie strikers' by all means but for the love of god bring in lesser known, young, talented players.

Aye and Hoilett, Samba and Olsen didn't fancy their chances with Big Sam -who let's not forget spoiled us with Kalinic and EHD!

Funny, considering the "lesser known, young, talented players" we've been linked with outnumbers Robbie Keane.

So you'd only want us to be managed by a manager who is well known??? You think Harry Redknapp was a household name in the early days of his managerial career, Alex Ferguson??

Im not saying you're wrong neccesarily but you're assuming Kean cant sign players on the back of what? January? Give the guy a chance. That's the point. Just because he's not a huge name doesn't mean he can't deal in the transfer market.

I quite agree. It wouldn't matter it if Brian Clough was in charge, Phil Jones would still have left as going to Man United is massive for any player. Samba wants champions league so unless we get a late invite he will be going and it will be nothing to do with Steve Kean. Lets give the guy a break and wait till Aug 31st as we as well support his transfer activity as he will be there no matter what.

As it says underneath, Andy Cryer has linked them all ( http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/9103058.Blackburn_Rovers_transfer_rumour_round_up_____summer_2011/ )

And as for the wikipedia articles. When I just did a "." (so I could create the thread) I got a bunch of comedians.

That potential server crashing news that Kamy or Glenn was talking about. What was that about?

It's a story we'll probably no longer have the exclusive on.

The real story is WHY we'll not have it. But I'll save that for another day.

Surely if you break the story, you've got the exclusive?

Let the LT have the sloppy seconds!

So you'd only want us to be managed by a manager who is well known??? You think Harry Redknapp was a household name in the early days of his managerial career, Alex Ferguson?? Fergie had already landed a European trophy @ Aberdeen and Redknapp had earned his stripes at the 'smaller' clubs and therefore had both a track record and a profile. Unfortunately, for us Kean can't compare.

Im not saying you're wrong neccesarily but you're assuming Kean cant sign players on the back of what? January? Give the guy a chance. That's the point. Just because he's not a huge name doesn't mean he can't deal in the transfer market. If Kean was manager at United, he would have a far easier task in attracting players. We have a double edged sword - we are a smaller and less glamorous club and Kean is a relatively unknown rookie. There seems to be an awful lot of 'talking' going on after Kean's 4 or 5 days in India and last week's pow-wow. I am questioning the club's ability to make and do a deal, for whatever reason(s), with some of the 'quality' names mentioned. The longer the period of inactivity, the more restless everyone connected with the club becomes including players (Robbo, Hoilett & Olsson etc), supporters and would be sponsors. Worryingly, the Hoilett position seems to be no closer to being resolved and I would say that that has been an outstanding priorty for too long.
