From Papiss Cisse, Pablo Piatti and Miranda to Tony effin Warner. Our owners making complete tits out of themselves and making our club look like a laughing stock - surely this can't be? Oh wait...

If this Warner rumour is true, some/many at our club need their heads seen to. I bet this is exactly the inspiring signing that will convince Hoilett and Samba to stay! Ffs.

In the words of the only TV Meerkat I know "calm down".

I've seen the worrying post's but I have a little dickie bird telling me that the wage bill we have in place WILL NOT be broken, which is leading to us chopping and changing targets, left right and centre. Nixons' statements are pretty damn good to read, but its only Great Britian where you can make claims in newspapers without naming your source. Heck, it may even be just England.

Point is, my "un-named source" is telling me to be patient, and look out for several contract agreements signed in the next fortnight. I was even told to prepare myself for something massive, which I have no comprehension of at this time.

We currently have two Goalkeepers in our squad and thus require an additional back up, it is unlikely that the guy would ever be required to play, but we would need him just in case. Begs the question why we released Brown and sold Fielding for a pittance

To say that the last 24 hours or so have been bizarre would be an understatement. Can't go into it but people at the club need to get their act together or they will screw things up. They also need to get their act together because Junior's dad arrives for contract talks today.

Equally bizarre is the decision to try and sign vetean goal keeper Tony Warner.

WTF?

I am giving this board a wide berth for a while - I feel suicidal

£5 million is the fee Spurs wanted off West Ham. Any more would be mad. Less would be good business. He still has something about him.

Yes. He looks good on his way out of the door. <_<

Mark hughes to be appointed new manager !!!

How long for? Six months? (Ref: Fuham) Has itchy feet, that one.

Indeed so. Rovers supporters need to "chill out", enjoy the long hot summer days and relax in the knowledge that our esteemed owners are working hard behind the scenes to secure the best players at reasonable prices for the forthcoming season. I have absolute confidence in their abilities to match the expectation of fans with a number of dazzling signings that will excite supporters and give a significant boost to season ticket sales. The future is bright, the club is making great strides on and off the field of play and all we need is to rely and trust in the expertise of the owners. Come on you Blues !

We've got a long time till the transfer window shuts and, for me, a half decent squad of players. I'm enjoying reading about the soap opera of signings everyday, I thought I supported Blackburn Rovers and not Harchester Rovers.

I'm sure we'll have a starting 11 that looks dramatically different next season, we'll see if thats a good thing or not when that day arrives

At this rate, they'll be getting a kit sorted for Beamo.

  Beautifully done, love it.

Somebody said Tony Warner would be Fowleresque? That's actually a gross insult to Fowler. Fowler used to be a top player, Warner was always a nobody and is now 37. In a position where we are amply covered. Mind-boggling if true- even if we think Robbo is leaving, you wouldn't look for a has-been (sorry, a never-was) like him to replace him.

Why oh why are we now on the tail of a 37 year old goalkeeper we have 2 modestly good goalkeepers in our ranks not to mention an up and coming gk in Jake Kean (no relation to the gaffer). We also let go a potential England no 1 in Frank Fielding and this is what we will get in return David James' understudy at Liverpool 17 years ago. Please please please rovers get some order in the house and stick to promises if we are on the verge of something big then all well an good but if we have switched our attentions from a 22 goal season striker in Pap Cisse to can't score from 1 yard Robbie Keane then I am afraid we are in for another frustrating season as supporters of BRFC. it's hard to remain totally 100% positive which I have been in my Rovers life when you hear stories or snippets like the one in this mornings telegraph.

Let's hope you're right, I actually forgot that we sold Fielding. Hope this is a Carlo Nash to Everton type deal.

It's just so damn disappointing to hear that the owners/advisers/manager are (allegedly) messing things up regarding our "big name" signings, and then learning that we're about to sign Tony Warner.

No. No we don't. And if we're going to think about 3rd choice keepers surely even Jake Kean would be a better bet.

Let's not get too carried away, there's one source (Kamy) vaguely referring to a decision to try to sign Tony Warner (may even imply we failed, but that's too ridiculous). Far cry from 'we're about to sign' him.

Eh? The whole world of journalism works this way.

Tony Warner, you got to be ###### kidding me. seriously, wtf is going on if this is true. surely, with Robbo, Bunno and Keano, we have 3 good goal keepers. Warner wont even make a good goal keeping coach…. jeez, if Warner arrives, then really, ###### baldy needs to be sent to a mental institute, and put into a straight jacket

i personally am not going to get too excited about any new signings for a while yet, as we all know that 1 major signing by a big club to a smaller one can lead to a hive of activity in the transfer market which over inflates players prices and the clubs that we are buying from will be fully aware of this and will probably hold out to get the deal that they want, which is ultimately an overinflated price for their player. The differences in what we have to spend from one paper to the next is staggering £30m - £50m. That is a hell of a lot difference and that extra £20m would buy the striker and the right back that we are after.

Maybe he is coming to help out with the coaching side. Which will of course mean he will be the manager in a few years time.

Yes. Yes we do. Robbo gets injured, we need a keeper on the bench...a sending off and you need someone with experience to fill the position, as that is a pressure situation. It could be a likely scenario and i'm not sure how many top quality keepers there are around that would be willing to be third choice keeper at Blackburn. It's hard enough to get a top quality striker who could be guaranteed first team football.

I am also gobsmacked by Rovers going for Tony Warner, the only justification I can see for bringing him in is in some player/coaching capacity. Not sure if he has his coaching badges or not.

You beat me to it.

Tony Warner? The dingles must be laughing so hard right now. I think Balal needs to sit back and watch this transfer window go by while studying the process and how it works, then he can play fantasy football in the next window as he'll have time to prepare himself.

(Just assuming he's got something to do with it :))

The most worrying aspect it that we have an excellent young 'keeper, Jake Kean, coming through in the Reserves which is why Fielding was allowed to leave. Is it possible that the club are interested in Warner as an Academy goalkeeping coach, particularly as he has links with Lowe? If Kean is looking to sign Warner as a player, then it really is worrying.

Thus far, for all the talk of excellent targets, it would appear the ageing Robbie Keane and a 37-year-old 'keeper are likely to be the first arrivals. Hardly going to set the world alight in terms of season ticket sales.

I have a feeling that the owners planned to spread payment of transfer fees over the next 2-4 years, owing to a lack of capital and their estimates of what we will achieve in that time (predicted Champs League revenue). I think Kentaro have warned them against that this week (PORTSMOUTH) and there is a reassessment of the targets and a breakdown of trust between the two.

But what do I know...

As Hughesy correctly says the issue is not the money (it is there to spend), the issue is that bids were set to go in this week and now there seems to be dithering. They need to get their act together and take some decisive decisions, otherwise they are not only going to lose players like Cisse/Piatti but just as importantly we will start to get a reputation (with Agents) of messing about which will make it even harder to sign players.

There we go, we've finally found our level of signing. All this talk of Piatti and Cisse was extremely premature. Tony Warner is really all we can afford. Bring on next season!

We're going to have to agree to disagree. Entirely. Yes, I'm aware of the (very slim) possibility that we could go down to our third choice keeper. But I'd take a supposedly promising young keeper we already have and who doesn't take up a place in our squad due to being under 21, over a tired old hack who would require extra wages. Partly because they are probably on a similar level (Warner was in League One ffs), partly because it helps us develop a prospect who may actually be useful in future seasons, and partly because the chance of us needing either is so slim as to not justify additional expenditure. We do not need three good keepers. We need two and an average one, which is what we have. If the situation changes at some point, we can bring in a keeper on a free at various times, use the Jan window, or even call for an emergency loan. Additionally, even thinking about this should be so low down the priority list as to not even be considered until mid August or so. It's a waste of human resources to be looking at it now.

On top of which, how the hell is Warner a top quality keeper?
