Summer 2011 Transfer Window Part Two

As Hughesy correctly says the issue is not the money (it is there to spend), the issue is that bids were set to go in this week and now there seems to be dithering. They need to get their act together and take some decisive decisions, otherwise they are not only going to lose players like Cisse/Piatti but just as importantly we will start to get a reputation (with Agents) of messing about which will make it even harder to sign players.

Kamy could you pleas enlighten up as to why there is so much dithering going on?

It does sound like some wierd stuff is going on, if the Owners/Kentaro/Kean think a nomadic Tony Warner and a past it Robbie Keane is the way forward then they are living in 'cloud cuckoo land'. We might be looking at other targets as well, but these are two (if you believe those in the know- Kamy and Nicko are usually pretty accurate) are the only two so far that we have put in offers for.

I'll fully judge them by the end of the window but it sounds like you can forget the 'A List' maybe even the 'B list' judging by the moves for players so far.

I bet there are two lists, a bargain one and a proper one, it seems strange that for all the talk and all the lists that we have only genuinly bid for Robbie Keane and this OAP keeper.

How the hell do you go into the summer break with targets in mind and a plan then change your mind, deals could have been done by now if we were serious about signing some of these top players.

Maybe they need to appoint a manager, who would then pick the players he wants and go from there. The owners may need to take a hands off role for awhile - fund the club, but let football people - not agent - do the football business side of things.

There we go, we've finally found our level of signing. All this talk of Piatti and Cisse was extremely premature. Tony Warner is really all we can afford. Bring on next season!

it was good while it lasted  but seriously, i couldnt be bothered anymore, what did we expect...

We're going to have to agree to disagree. Entirely. Yes, I'm aware of the (very slim) possibility that we could go down to our third choice keeper. But I'd take a supposedly promising young keeper we already have and who doesn't take up a place in our squad due to being under 21, over a tired old hack who would require extra wages. Partly because they are probably on a similar level (Warner was in League One ffs), partly because it helps us develop a prospect who may actually be useful in future seasons, and partly because the chance of us needing either is so slim as to not justify additional expenditure. We do not need three good keepers. We need two and an average one, which is what we have. If the situation changes at some point, we can bring in a keeper on a free at various times, use the Jan window, or even call for an emergency loan. Additionally, even thinking about this should be so low down the priority list as to not even be considered until mid August or so. It's a waste of human resources to be looking at it now.

On top of which, how the hell is Warner a top quality keeper?

I didn't mean that Warner was quality, just saying that if they have decided that they do need keeping back up, then they're not going to be able to get quality.

So, we have gone from what sohuld have been an exciting week of potential transfers to the Rovers staff mincing around not getting anything sorted. They have had the meetings, done all the prep work, all they needed was to put the bids in for the players they have identified.

I wonder what the hold up is?

Whatever it is, they need to get this sorted out, and fast.

This Tony Warner rumour seems easily traceable to one source on Twitter. Maybe everyone should ask @Redfoxi ...

Could well be her 'mate' winding her up. Doncaster Rovers would seem a much more likely destination. No?

Doubt Kammy got it from a random twitter post.

Surely tho it isnt a matter of who should be signed first. Surely they should be trying to move along with negotiations with all our targets?

I agree but when have 3 different stories from our owners on many occasions

That's what i was thinking. I still dont understand where the dithering has come from? How hard can it be to put bids in for players?

Kean -> Balaji - > Venkatesh - > Mrs Desai - > to Mr Desai - > Jerome Anderson -> Philippe Huber -> Back to Mr Desai -Back to Mrs Desai ->Back to Balaji -> Back to Venkatesh -> (Please don't use that word again) off Kean, those players are to expensive, try again..

That’s the route I think it has take, like Bangkok said, too many Chiefs in all of this

is that Red's brother?

Haha! Very droll...

It's James Herring's PR company. Their entire ethos is centred around PR stunts. Most recently, have a look at the ice cream van that was floating on the Thames. That was their brainchild. Don't you feel safe and warm with that kind of invention and creativity?

They're a television/media PR company. They, most famously, I think, do Alan Sugar/The Apprentice stuff. I think the descension of Alan Sugar's character as rogue/maverick businessman to grumpy old man in a chair is probably what we can expect for the Rovers... Without the money, of course.

Exsactly! They ask us the fans to back them, but how do they expect this to happen when there are different conflicting stories coming out all the time.

I am starting to have doubts...

Warner story came from someone who is very reliable, there is also a snippet in the LT this morning (at the end of the Kean story).

I heard it from a friend of the tranmere chairman yesterday. No reason not to believe because the same person told me about Lowe well in advance of anybody talk on here

Right! Had enough.

I sincerely wish I hadn't renewed my season ticket now. We get nothing but bullshite and no action from Rovers and I've had my fill. ###### off Venkys and take your bald parrot with you.

Its a really strange and seemingly pointless transfer. Robbo, Bunn and Kean are our 3 keepers even if he is brought in for some kind of coaching capacity, we have Bobby Mimms here. So unless He's off i can't see the point in this.

The manager or the agents are not the issue....someone playing fantasy football is.

Not the case
