Why do we need one? Surely if the likes of Fielding and Kean are coming through then our current one is doing very well?

Fielding's gone to Derby. Three year deal. I presume you know Brown is no longer ours as well. Therefore I see no problem in bringing in a third goalkeeper purely as backup. He'll be cheap and there to make up the numbers. If he's a professional it doesn't matter what league he's been in either. No doubt he'd be able to offer something to any youth keepers we have at the club.

We don't prefer happy delusions philip, we just prefer not to apply a 'doomsday' scenario to every bit of news and are willing to assess the situation, rather than slate the owners at every bit of news. The owners have been giving out so many mixed signals since the takeover, it is hard to believe what they say.

We're willing to give them time, and judge them when we feel appropriate. Now isn't that time, regardless of what is going on behind the scenes.

So you're accusing Kamy and Nicko of applying a "Doomsday" situation are you? Big call!

Kean more or less went straight into the Reserve side following his arrival from Derby and so am pretty sure that Bobby would be his coach. I'm not sure who the Academy goalkeeping coach is at the moment. It used to be Peter Fox but on matchdays I've noticed that Rick Leighton tends to do the warm-up for the 'keepers but I'm assuming that's because the goalkeeping coach isn't available on Saturdays.

The only reason I mentioned coaching was because I can see no other reason from bringing Warner to the club. I would hope that he isn't coming to replace Mimms but you never know. The way things are going at the moment I wouldn't be surprised at anything. However, interest in a 37-year-old, League One goalkeeper does seem strange even in the weird and wonderful world of Steve Kean.

I've got a son who recently turned 12 and we've just been through this painful process of him deciding what he's going to spend his birthday money on

Nerf guns, X Box games, Scooters, Bikes, clothes, Rovers gear, trainers - there's just toooooo much to choose from and when you've no experience of spending money (like the Rao's buying players) it's a head spin!!!!

I have the same problem thing is I'm now 28

i think a hint of fustration is creeping out into the fans minds after being told that X Y and Z player is on the list and nothing has been done about it yet...

i like reading all the posts on here never knew Rovers fans had such active imaginations.

I just hope we sign Cisse purely on the fact being that he is a goalscorer and that is what we need we can then take this and say " look we have an out and out goalscorer you feed him the ball and he'll put it where it should be" that can be a catalyst in that Hoilett will look at and say "yes i like that idea and sign me up for another couple of years" lets hope that's the way

You stalking me 47er? :P

For the record, i am neither pro or anti Venkys, they just exist as owners of the club I have supported all my life

Nah! You had a go at me, I have a go at you--that's how it works! :P

Ok, trying to get my head around this.

People are arguing about targets not being 'good' enough behind the scenes, and don't want to lodge bids for currents stars like Cissé and Piatti, but don't mind bidding for Keane? And then Warner? There's absolutely no logic to that.

Everyone involved need to agree on taking the right steps, we can't climb the whole staircase in one step. Sign solid reinforcements now and get rid of some deadweight, strengthen for £5m if necessary in January, and if qualify for Europe go sign some stars next summer.

We already have an excellent number three 'keeper in Jake Kean. Even if we loan Kean out I'm not sure how Warner even gets a game for the Reserves. With Bunn needing matches, and Urwin and Dilo also vying for games at Reserve level, I really don't see how a 37-year-old gets the game time needed to keep him match sharp.

I wonder if the shinakins behind the scenes has anything to do with money? If they really are putting in 50M, could the shinakins be as the result of this being the only major investment and Venky's needing to ensure they get it right?

Thing is though, i thought they spent a week or 2 in meetings at Ewood, in India and Switzerland sorting all the targets, budgets, wages, transfer fee's etc out?

Surely everyone should be signing from the same Hymn sheet now, and it should very much be a case of bidding for our targets on our "agreed" list of players.

I only ask as Rovers used to have an aussie doing the youth GK coaching and he's no longer on the squad list. Warner was signed in January with Coulghin staying so assume he either got released or is coaching only. If he left I would not be surprised if he did some coaching at the youth as part of his deal. However if he comes in to replace Mimms, well I won't be best pleased.

Tony Warner would be coming as a goalkeeping coach. The link with David Lowe is obvious. The link with Steve Kean less obvious - but I think they were together at Fulham.

Similarly the young guy is coming from Everton to be secretary.

Communications skills at Rovers just now are clearly not a strong point.

If people were told what was happening on two simple fronts like those there would be less guesswork going on.

There is enough crap flying in other areas - so a simple statement on these things would be a help.

Who are these shinakins you're talking about..sounds like they need sorting out!

I would rather have Jake Kean as our 3rd choice than Tony bloody Warner if we wanted a back up why didn't we go for Kieran Westwood.

Try reading the post from Nicko just above, that should help prevent you getting your knickers in a twist.

Thank you for clearing that up Nicko- but I was under the assumption that Mimms has done an excellent job and Robbo credits him massively for his form picking up. If he goes then that is a big loss.

They would help a hell of a lot. It is something the owners/Rovers staff desperately need to work on.

Cheers for the update. At present your probably the best spokesperson we have at Rovers

So Bobby Mimms wont be staying on? If so its a huge loss.
