I will have to run it by the committee, who will take a view, pass it back, come up with some other ideas, have a think about it, perhaps make a small bid, try to get the wages down, spend all time working out where the moles are, perhaps sack a few, wonder why we did that and then have tea.

I agree with you about the sensible signings but not that Keane and Cole would be those sensible signings. Both are presumably on huge wages and neither has shown any sign in the last few seasons of being the player they once were. I'm not asking for big names and I don't even know who most of the players are we've been linked to since I don't follow any other league but the French, so I'm not a spoilt little madam or whatever. I just want to see some decent quality players signed sooner rather than later - decent for us that is. I want them in soonish so that they have chance to settle into the area, the club and the team. So that they can sort things like school for their kids and where they are going to shop (which always seems to matter to their wives) and all the other details before the season starts because otherwise they will not settle quickly.

This should not be beyond us. It's not rocket science. Ambition for us this season is avoiding a relegation scrap and then finishing in the top half of the table. It's keeping the better players we still have and adding to them. I actually don't want a marquee signing to turn our club into a real circus. I don't want a player who gets his name on people's shirts but can't deliver on the pitch because we don't have the right players to give him service, or he thinks he's actually too good for the likes of us, or he's past it.

It's about striking a balance overall. If we did spend £50 million, but didn't replace what needed to be replaced, or strengthened immensely, it would surely be a wasted exercise?

On the flip side, if Venky's buy what we need, and don't spend £50 million, they'll be accused of not putting money back into the club! Patience will be key I sense!

He's not what we need and if we are keeping Banjoni and Roberts then there are our two back-ups. Decent player he may well still be but he really struggled last year at west ham and Spurs, given he'll be about 10M all in, I'd rather waste that on an up and coming kid like Sinclair.

Maybe Keane would come in instead of Roberts or Benjani?

He did struggle last season with injury, if we can keep him fit I still think he has something to offer, but like you say maybe we could invest the big wages in someone up and coming.

Hopefully a professional Premier League Football Club will emerge from all this mess and here's a first for me- in the current scheme of things Kentaro are the good guys. That tells you how far Rovers have slipped.

Ms. Gumboots, I am aghast that you could possibly imagine that I was in anyway directing that towards you.

The point I was making about Keane and Cole is that people's expectations are higher than players of that calibre, and some have even stated that they would be good to have on the bench. Sadly I do not think that we have the financial clout, in regards to income, to sustain such a bench - never mind a whole team of them. Its the expectation issue that worries me, as Venkeys have thrown some pretty heady names around.

I personally don't want a marque signing at all, I would rather we spend the money very wisely fleshing out the team with decent players and bring in quality youth prospects. Having a super star up front will do us no goof whatsoever if our midfield is torn to shreds every time we loose possession, nor a defense that stare at each other as Robbo hauls the ball out of the back of the net again.

When dealing in the transfer market surely having Kentaro on board can only be a good thing Philipl.

I agree in principle as long as they can keep their own greed factor in check, which I think can be very hard to do.

They will be fantastic for dealing with players that they personally do not have any personal interest invested in.

Just been on Talk Sport that Charlie Adam is not necessarily going to Liverpool as there has been interest from other Perm league clubs ..... should we be interested? or more to the point are we one of the un-named Perm League clubs?

Charlie Adam wants to go to Liverpool. Other interested clubs know that.

Liverpool have not agreed a deal for Charlie Adam with Blackpool.

There is no point in any club bidding for Charlie Adam right now.

Blackpool will be trying to get an auction going. There won't be one when the player does not want to go anywhere else.

Nicko's criticising the regime for not making decisions. Phil's back and saying that compared to the rest of the folk at the club Kentaro are now the good guys (!!?!**%$!!?!). BPF and Kamy are upset about something 'bizarre' that hasn't come out yet & we've signed a new goalkeeping coach (no-one knows why).

Other than that it's pretty quiet.
