he already said.. "dont take his opinion as gospel" and you just have! GUESSING GAMES ACHIEVE NOTHING OTHER THEN SENDING SOME PEOPLE INTO A FRENZY!

He is not saying my opinion is fact. He is just agreeing with me and he said he THINKS that is precisely the case.

Agreeing and taking my opinion as the gospel are two different things.

Of course, almost everyone else disagrees with me, so the chances of me being right is nearly 0.

But I seriously disagree it's Venkys who draw up a list of their targets and present it to Kean. That makes no sense at all - if that's the case they would have gone ahead and bidded for the players themselves already without all this hold-up.

I imagine Kean will give a list to the owners [maybe drawn from advice from JA, maybe not] and have little further input. He almost certainly wont get involved with Fees or wages. Nor do I think he will talk to the agents at this stage, clubs about contracts or bid for those players. As you say LeC, others will do that work.

Agree he will have had little input. If we look at January, i would have a bet that Kean had input in 25% of our signings (Roque).

I cannot see him banging on Venkys door saying "Get me Rochina, Jones and Formica"

That pattern will possibly repeat itself this summer

So that would mean then it was Kean saying we should sign Beckham and Ronaldhio in January?

Um, most managers rely on scouting to identify targets. I'd doubt that Kentaro/Venkys said "There's this solid, but not flashy midfielder on the bench at Schalke. He grew up in Germany, but plays for the US and few have ever heard of him. He'll sell us a bunch of shirts, so make Kean buy him..."

so this from the LET is not correct

How involved are you going to be in transfer activity? Our manager, Steve Kean, will continue to work with the owners in transfer issues.

He is the man in overall charge of all playing matters, which obviously includes the recruitment of players etc.

As in all other areas of the club I will be here to assist in any way I can.

I won't deny that it was most likely Venkys who asked for Beckham and Ronaldhino in January, but I seriously doubt the Venkys ever heard of Cisse before Kean, and most likely Kentaro and Jerome Anderson, asked them if they could sign him.

If i am not mistaken (could easily be), but did Kentaro not sort Jones out for us?

It would be Kentaro again pushing those players, they will present them to Venkys. Was in not established a few pages back that Kean is having little input at the moment? This is a test of the relationship between our owners and Kentaro?

I am not denying that Kentaro was the one pushing those players. Most managers use scouts and agencies to help them recruit new players - that's what I believe anyway.

What I'm disagreeing was your statement that it was the owners Venkys who draw up the list of targets and ask Kean and Kentaro to get them for Blackburn Rovers. Otherwise I have no issue with your statements.

kamy's comments this morning got everybody into overdrive, rumours flew about,

"All they want is transfer speculation in the media and the words about their business and venkys mentioned, for their own self promotion."

"Just reading between the lines alot and guessing, it seems one or more of nicko and kamys sources have been fired by the club in the last few days".

he has come on and told us we are barking up the wrong tree. told us what he can and tried to get us calm down and stop speculating

Phillip comes on with his

"This time we know for sure that at the time of writing, the wheels have well and truly come off at Rovers."

again people go into overdrive, pages and pages of rumours and theories which are unfounded appear. Phillip's response? "Wrong, keep guessing" NO NO don't keep guessing with more unfounded speculation about moles being sacked, relationships breaking down and backroom staff being fired

like i said before, either put up what you know, or explain you cant go into it so close the matter. whats the point in telling people to keep guessing ffs

I agree that unless you are willing to say what you know don't say a damn thing.

The only thing that gets me is the stick that anyone who has a non positive thing to say get and, with the exception of two, get labled doom merchants and ridiculed.

Everything is not happy happy spend land and concerns should be able to be discussed without slights. Some of the ludicrous waffle that has voided onto here from the sunshine and light brigade is further below contempt than phillps whispers of doom.

He will have some say, (hope he does for the love of god) but the new Chief Exec is not going to come in and say otherwise is he? We are obviously being linked to a different type of player (good thing) than we have before, i think Nicko alluded to this some time ago, new avenues opened up for us, now logically what has changed at the club for this to happen? Kentaro

Sorry i think i may have caused some confusion with my term "Venkys". I was lumping Kentaro and Venkys together. Kentaro will present players to Kean and Venkys. Then who has the final decision, i think that's where we currently are. If i was a betting man, Kean would not be 1st or 2nd in the list for me

I believe Steve Kean has very little input in which players are chosen, but is more likely to be asked "which one do you prefer?" Mr A or Mr B! This is also why I think Venkys see him as their man......

So not, the mad internal mess that the "usual suspects" were immediately crowing about? The sky's not falling, we haven't signed a 37 yr old 3rd rate keeper as no 2 to Robbo, we do really have a substantial budget and we aren't bringing in Sparky to replace Keano? Oh dear! what will the Samettes and anti Venky brigade do now?

Sadly, as Kamy said, there is no one person who is making decisions at the moment. The club is being run by committee which results in endless discussion and, at the moment, very little action. Both Kamy and Nicko agreed that targets were drawn up last week but, to the surprise and consternation of both, no bids have so far been made.

I don't think anyone suggested that Warner was being signed as the number two keeper. The worry is that he is being brought in to replace Mimms. Personally, I think Robinson has improved tremendously under Mimms and he himself has admitted that he has benefited that the work that Bobby has put in with him.

As den pointed out, under the Trust there might not have been much money in recent years, but there was a structure in place that allowed decisions to be made fairly quickly. At the moment I don't think anybody knows who is making the decisions.

The sky is certainly not falling in but neither is it the dawn of a new beginning for which we had hoped.

is Tony Warner not coming in as Youth team goalkeeper coach with David Lowe head of youth coaching! That's the way I'm reading it.

I was hoping for some good news about rovers today. Maybe we have agree a fee for Cisse or Piatti and now are talking to their agent about personal terms!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

We must get in players that the managers wants!!! Kean knows what style of play he wants to play and formation!

I wonder if the owners want us to make a bid for Wolfsburg player Diego before signing a striker like Cisse! And Kean wants Cisse and Keane up front next season.

If Rovers want Cisse they need act quick or they now risk losing him to one of the big Russian clubs.

Someone placed a bid?

But let's look at the positives, we have looked at him, and potentially want to sign him.

Yeah that's how i understood it too. On the continent this is the norm though, we are one of very few countries that has managers with overall control

I'm sorry but this is getting really stupid.

  • We are in the best possible situation we have been in for years with regard transfer funds.
  • There is a long way to go before the transfer window shuts.
  • We have owners who are new to this but will do right by the club. 1) because they have invested in the club 2) because they will want to protect their assets 3) They want to enhance the Venky brand.

and yet all i read are moans

What do you all expect?

[*]The club to spend all its money on transfers to please fans in two days?

[*]The club to inform fans of all transfer targets and thinking behind them?

And it would seem for the club not to use all the expertise at its disposal and take time considering the pros and cons of all decisions before making a 3-4 yr expensive wage/transfer fee commitment for players we may regret.

Give them time.

Have faith

Have patience

Enjoy all the positives and stop all the scare stories. They don't cast the club in a good light, will do nothing to enhance the progress of the club or transfers and serve no purpose.

Nicko was right to suggest it best to take a back seat watch things unfold, don't get over involved-it will all work out one way or the other. The dice has been cast...let it roll

Let the thoughtless posting end here......

Message to Kean and the owners, go and sign Papiss Cisse ASAP!!!

We need a striker with pace and to get in behind defences and he is a goalscorer.

This could be a good thing, sink or swim time.

Lets hope whatever silliness that is going on is sorted and it's time to get to business

Zero chance for Rover if most Russian clubs come in due to UK tax and the depth of pockets of most of the Russian club owners.

surely it should come down to the standard of the league. Surely most players want to test themselves in the best league in the league and NOT the Russian league!

Cisse has stated though that his preferred destination is the premiership! Hopefully there are still players out there that don't just think about money.....maybe just maybe!
