surely it should come down to the standard of the league. Surely most players want to test themselves in the best league in the league and NOT the Russian league!

There is a big difference between playing for the top 4 EPL, La Liga and Italy and winning things (ok maybe not arsenal) than playing in a mid level team in any league and getting the most money you can.

While we all care and love Rovers 99.9% of players, manager and agents do not care. EG Home Grown and a Rover supporter PJ and he still left after being offered the chance to be the best paid player in the history of the club

Its discussion about something most hold very dear to them.

The future of the club is more important to me than the next sound byte from Pune, Keans mouth, or whatever. The future, and safety, of the club is worth more to me than the first flyby night primadonna to stalk through the gates of Ewood after being bought.

People were rightly making all sorts of fun out of Portsmouth when they were all big and bad in the transfer news, throwing money around, set to challenge for Europe, this and that, etc. But because it is Rovers, its all okay. None of that can happen. We are immune to the reality that is money. Our fans are acting exactly the same. Pray our club does not act the same.

If a player in the Bundesliga decides to join a club in the Russian league over a Premier League club then that tells you a lot more about the mindset of the player than the shape of or club. We might dodge a bullet.

Kamy, I appreciate your posts and all that, but in this case I'm very very curious- why can't you tell us more than that? Unless you're simply too busy to elaborate, I don't get it. Ostensibly, this concerns a club that isn't us making a bid, so I don't see why you can't go into that for fear of breaking confidences. Surely you can tell us who has moved in, what their offer is, and if it's been accepted? If you know those things.

I would love to tell you everything, but building relationships with agents etc takes a considerable amount of time and effort so blurting out everything would destroy these relationships, which in turn would harm this site as we wouldn't be able to bring you news.

You can be sure Rovers know, they clearly rate the player, hence he was scouted on numerous occasions last season.

Now is a perfect time to strike. We've got money in the bank from a sale, and some cash from Venky's to splash. Teams in and around us are either seemingly quite quiet or buying average players (IMO) . Get your business off to a flyer and reap the benefits Venky's.
