Summer 2011 Transfer Window Part Two

Though the confusion obviously isn't helping Rovers to complete potential deals - at the end of the day it is our owners money and up to them how they spend it. Hopefully at some point they will realise that they need to empower somebody who knows what they are doing to make a decision. As in business - set the parameters - and then let them get on with it.

What have those nefarious Venky's done this time?

Please summarize so I don't have to wade through the horror of the last dozen pages.

Best guess from the various cloak and dagger comments is that there's a bit of a mess because we're trying to do everything by committee, with Kean, Venky's, Rovers officials and Kentaro all with hands in the pot. The various debates are making it difficult for us to move in the transfer market and finish deals. Or even get close to finishing deals.

If a player in the Bundesliga decides to join a club in the Russian league over a Premier League club then that tells you a lot more about the mindset of the player than the shape of or club. We might dodge a bullet.

What if we don't give him the option to choose because we're too slow?

Our new owners are certainly 'no nonsense' people when it comes to doing business. Problem is that when it comes to dealing with transfers we won't always be the most attractive proposition, nor will we be in a position to haggle over everything.

Should really follow BPF's advice and come back Sep 1. :wstu:

Exactly. Maybe it is being run by committee, but no-one was prepared to buy us to run it the way it was being run before.

We'd all love 50 million to be spent in the best possible way, but personally I'll take 30 million being spent bureaucratically than the highly efficient JW endlessly closing in on a mystery striker with 0 million budget.

Ok, If you want to discuss Venkys and their envolvment with Kentaro, the management structure, or lack of please do not do it in the transfer thread.

As it says in the title "SUPER HIGH TRAFFIC THREAD - ALL OFF TOPIC POSTS WILL BE REMOVED"

I'm sure we'd all like nothing better than to discuss transfers and keep this thread on topic but unfortunately there are no transfers and not even any sign of transfers to discuss. Philip has set the cat among the pigeons with his comments and there is little/nothing else to discuss hence why people are arguing about things that appear irrelevant.

Why don't they just bloomin well appoint someone who can do these deals or we ain't going to getting anyone half decent. Rudderless ships aren't attractive to anyone we might want to sign.

I would be interested to know, who at the club is now responsible for contract negotiations? Who Decides on the level of offer, decides on contract length, decides on salary levels, decides on wage structures?

Who has the experience in these things?

No-one, hence no signings!

I'm sorry but this is getting really stupid.

  • We are in the best possible situation we have been in for years with regard transfer funds.
  • There is a long way to go before the transfer window shuts.
  • We have owners who are new to this but will do right by the club. 1) because they have invested in the club 2) because they will want to protect their assets 3) They want to enhance the Venky brand.

and yet all i read are moans

What do you all expect?

[*]The club to spend all its money on transfers to please fans in two days?

[*]The club to inform fans of all transfer targets and thinking behind them?

And it would seem for the club not to use all the expertise at its disposal and take time considering the pros and cons of all decisions before making a 3-4 yr expensive wage/transfer fee commitment for players we may regret.

Give them time.

Have faith

Have patience

Enjoy all the positives and stop all the scare stories. They don't cast the club in a good light, will do nothing to enhance the progress of the club or transfers and serve no purpose.

Nicko was right to suggest it best to take a back seat watch things unfold, don't get over involved-it will all work out one way or the other. The dice has been cast...let it roll

Let the thoughtless posting end here......

thank you Mr venky.

venkys need to take a long hard look at how sunderland are going about the business, they know who they want and they are going out and getting them, this is becoming ridicules or where going to be left with the cast of's, we cant even get a shirt sponser sorted who is running this club its a complete joke at the moment, but i will be still sat there in the blackburn end at the first game of the season

come on Kean and the owners at least start making bids for the players we want! If we can't get our first choice for that position then move on to the second choice. at the minute we are going nowhere!

I think most managers in the PL would like to get their transfer business done and dust by end of July and get all players settle into the club!

Do people expect us to send a memo to The Sun every time we're moving in on a player or something? Even though its all speculation at this stage, I can't remember the last window with as many linked players for a bloody long time!

Piatti would cost us at least 8.8 million as Almeria would incurr a loss on the 6.2 million they paid for him due to his old club estudiantes earning 25% of any future sale .....

Allegedly accepted a bid 0f 7.2m from Udinese, not good at their sums are they. ;)

Everyone was saying judge the new owners on this transfer window.....which I will do, but at the moment they are not filling me with confidence. By appointing SEM/Kentaro there are too many people wanting an input! It means deals are taking longer to sort due to the so many people being involved thus possibly missing out on targets.

The fact at the moment is we are considerably weaker than we were at the end of last season! If what has been said is true and we are looking at getting in 5-6 new faces that is a major overhaul and will need the full preseason to gel......a lot of players will becoming from overseas and will need longer to get use to the surroundings!

Come on Venkys,Kean, SEM,Kentaro, or who ever and put your heads together and sort it.....before it does become too late(sept 1)
