But I seriously disagree it's Venkys who draw up a list of their targets and present it to Kean. That makes no sense at all - if that's the case they would have gone ahead and bidded for the players themselves already without all this hold-up.

Assuming they could agree with each other of course!

Spot on Hi Mack.

Pre-season begins next week. People are talking about the August 31 window now.

Our squad currently has relegation written all over it. I'd hope we sign our players well before the season begins.

How so? Our current squad has kept us up for the past two seasons. We've let Jones go who didn't feature for much of this season and only broke through the second half of the season before.

Jermaine Jones has gone back and so has RSC......

JJ was our best midfielder in the second half of the season. The Club captain wants out aswell.

We do look weak at the moment, Hoilett still to sign a deal also.

having just seen him rip the doors off the USA linking up with Chicharito... if Dos Santos is surplus to requirements at Spurs, he's be worth a shout. That final goal he scored was a masterclass, especially when you realize it's Everton's Timmy Howard that he makes look like a fool.

oh and pay no attention to Jones running past dos santos and then ineffectively sticking a leg out to not stop the shot...

He is a good player, I wonder why he's not played for spurs?

And what were our results like last season when Jones wasn't playing?

Phil Jones gone

Jermaine Jones gone

Both starters.

MB Diouf gone

Benjani gone

Both fringe players.

RSC

Starter when fit. Which is never.

Not to mention that Samba looks more than likely will leave. On top of that we are holding contract talks with Hoilett who might not be too keen on staying if we keep offloading our best players. MGP is seeking talks with Kean as well regarding his future. We won't stay up unless we strengthen. Question is will we strengthen for a push for top 10 or face another relegation battle having signed R. Keane, Stephane Guivarch and Olivier Dacourt on loan just before the transfer deadline.

Hear it every year, then at the end it turns to 'too many bad teams, thats why we didnt go down'.

At the moment - without doubt the 3 new clubs look relegation, followed by Wigan. None of those clubs have done much.

Seriously just stop panicking for a few days, no doubt it will hot up soon! IF there is still no movement in the next 2 weeks, then id start to worry. For now, just chill!

I agree to some extent Hughesy lad but the highlighted bit concerns me! how many times have we heard this in the past few years?

Now I'm one of the most positive posters on here and am in full support of the new Venky's regime but even I can see the holes in this argument. I would like to point out that our record winless run from December onwards coincided with the absence of Jones P from the team and his return from injury coincided with the good form shown under the redoubtable Steve Kean that enabled us to finish finally in a very creditable 15th place. I would also suggest the squad has managed to stay up for the past 2 seasons because of their experience and because we have had two very good managers in Mr Samuel Allardyce and his successor Mr Stephen Kean. It cannot be argued however that we are in dire need of significant reinforcements, preferably before pre-season training starts. i am sure that the owners will deliver on their promises and have some top players signed up in good time for the next season.

The current squad that was galvanised by J Jones & P Jones, neither of whom are here now. With strikers on the books that can't score more than 6 goals a season and a captain that wants out. Samba, Hoilett, Olsson, Robbo, Nzonzi apart,t he squad is pretty shocking and it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Robbo, Samba & Hoilett could all leave.

The only thing that might possibly save the squad as it is - is that the 3 promoted sides look weak again this year.

Quality signings required and plenty of them.

Lovin' the reverse psychology

Pretty much agree with everything, but it should be noted that the injury to P Jones was followed by a 3 - 0 - 3 record, actually surpassing the season average. After these matches a rough period followed, but the causality inferred might not convince everyone.

why do people keep saying we have until september 1st to sign players? we clearly dont, we probably have another week before other clubs move in on our targets and nab em. beggining of july = quality players.....september 1st = cast offs and second raters. Get the deals done soon or its going to be the same old same old.

We have until pre season training starts or around then. So players get to know the Barca Champion League style football we play. Plus there is a few who will A have to get fit again and B to get up to speed with the EPL.

Remember BFS got more points that Kean the Klown if I am not mistaken.

The pressure is on Rovers with out a doubt. Buy the players and gel them in to team or risk us going down. Some people see happy to wait for 10 games in to the season for the manager to show what he can do. I only pray we win more on average than we did last year with him in charge.

i dont post much i just like to hear the rumors and targets on this site. i also like to hear what nicko has to say.

i believe our fans should be patient. lets see what venkys have to offer. if they sign some great players fine but i dont know how its being funded. i look at clubs like portsmouth, leeds and others and i hope we dont go the way they did. all our club needs more than anything is stability. i'd love to see us sign some players that could help us maybe push for 7th or better but i'd rather see the club have a long term future.

as much as i like to wait for nicko's posts for some inside information i think his posts has caused a little bit too much panick on here today and i think those kind of comments are unnessicary due to knee jerk reactions that have come out.

its great to be told who are targets are but he was obviously annoyed about something that has gone on and in anger or whatever decided to raise a bit of a stir on here.

not having a go at any of our inside info guys as they make this mb more appealing than others but i dont see the need sometimes in the posts that cause to much of a stir that then goes on too cause 10-15 pages of mass hysteria

I wonder if any other team has had their transfer list plastered all over the place.

that prob doesnt help but to be fair its good for us. and most other teams targets are plastered over the place its just we actually get to talk to our very own journo. you cant disagree that that does make this mb more active and have more topics. its better than having loads of different people saying who they would like.

I don't disagree with that but they are open to any one. So scout from another team to read it and think WOW he would go to Blackburn we should go for him.

Id be seriously asking questions if my scout relied on BRFCS for his "findings"...

How did I forget about the tother Jones (J)? Yeah i'll agree he'll be a big loss if we don't sign him. Roque possibly hindered rather than helped. The other Jones (P) is a great player but I still think we'd have a decent enough squad without those three. To put us below the three teams coming up and a few others in terms of quality is a bold statement.

Just to set things straight. We've lost both Jones'''' (forgot about JJones in my original statement) who both never fully contributed last season and the season before; Santa Cruz, M Diouf and Benjani weren't with us.

What you are all saying is that without them (RSC, Benjani and Diouf(s) all contributed but were never absolutely crucial in gaining us points that others could have done in their place) we would be relegated next season...thus putting us below or on a par with, at the very least, the three teams coming up.

The bare squad still remains, granted we may lose Samba but we have players such as Hoilett and Olsson who have flourished under Kean. Defenders are more easily replaced than attackers as well.

If we kept the squad we had at this minute in time we'd stay up.
