braddock Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 even playing two up front when di santo was about it was evident he a was poor. fulham away in 2009 was when i first realised he couldn't finish. he will never be a goalscorer at this level. his ability 1v1 is awful. his goal to game ratio must be shocking? He missed one or two one on ones but when you only get the ball under control once in a match (and it not be your fault), once you start missing it's hard to turn the tide as an inexperienced forward, unless you are a superstar with amazing confidence.

Agreed on the fact he did miss a sitter or two though.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted June 21, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted June 21, 2011 Di Santo is useless! He's scored 2 goals in 2 seasons for Wigan and Rovers, both of those were from point blank range! The stats (not for the first time) speak for themselves.
Give 'Em the Axe Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Why are we discussing DiSanto in a transfers thread? If this touted mystery midfielder does indeed turn out to be D. Vaughan, I think that'd be a great bit of business. He seems to me a player's player, if you get me. With regards to Vucinic, I don't know a lot about him - youtube clips of goals or missed sitters ain't really gonna reveal a whole pile about him. The price seems rather high, and if spurs are +genuinely+ interested, then I can't see him signing on for us.
mark1875 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Mid table team like sunderland? who finished 3 places below us and scored a massive 7 goals more than us? fail to see your point there
Hughesy Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Is it just me that doesn’t really want Vaughan? He didn’t even stand out in a team that went down!
S15 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Is it just me that doesn’t really want Vaughan? He didn’t even stand out in a team that went down! He got player of the year.
Hughesy Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 He got player of the year. Yes following Charlie Adams 'I want to leave' stuff in January. If he was that good - why didnt they have top 6 clubs looking at him in Jan instead of Adam??
Ricky Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Hughesy, he DID stand out. He was their player of the year, surely he cant stand out much more than that. He was the savage to the Tugay in their Adam/Vaughan partnership.
braddock Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Mid table team like sunderland? who finished 3 places below us and scored a massive 7 goals more than us? fail to see your point there 13th is midtable in the great scheme of the Premier League. And look how many of the goals they scored that season were by strikers.
davulsukur Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Yes following Charlie Adams 'I want to leave' stuff in January. If he was that good - why didnt they have top 6 clubs looking at him in Jan instead of Adam?? I think Adam won all the media and Arm chair fan accolades. I believe when we were linked with Adam, someone on here said that Blackpool fans say its Vaughan who was the main man (or something to that effect)
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted June 21, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted June 21, 2011 I'd much rather have Vaughan than Adam (genuinely). Adam has become too 'big time' and begun to believe his own hype far too much. He's a great set-piece taker, and a passer, but far too many of his passes go astray! He'll struggle in a better team with greater expectations IMHO.
Halstead Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Guys i believe that vicente is on the way to rovers we wanted him in jan and he is now a free agent and expects to move to the premier league in the next few days 29 year old valencia winger class player http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_6998890,00.html?
Kjell Sindre Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 He was the savage to the Tugay in their Adam/Vaughan partnership. Hmm. As much as I love Super Rob I still miss Tugay the most. Bring me the Adam in their Adam/Vaughan partnership then, plz.
Iceman Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 im going to guess its either one of David Vaughn, Charles Nzogbia, Scott Parker, Ji Sung Park, Charlie Adam..
Ferrit Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Vaughan would be an excellent signing, throw the fact he's a free into the mix, and it becomes a no brainer.
A cup of beans Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Similar player to Givet in that he plays full back and centre half but Ridgewell for 3 million wouldn't be a bad bit of business. Gets his fair share of goals too and according to the mirror west Brom are keen. IM HAVING NIGHTMARES JUST THINKING ABOUT RIDGEWELL! he is appalling! but i'll forever be grateful to him for his blunder at ewood last season though. Vaughan would be an excellent signing, throw the fact he's a free into the mix, and it becomes a no brainer. and he was in the paper saying how settled his family were in blackpool! get him in! shame this guy cant be tempted to (milan, or rovers) similar to salgardo.. in many ways but quicker! he'd be fantastic at Left back for us.. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11854_6662526,00.html
S15 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 If he was that good - why didnt they have top 6 clubs looking at him in Jan instead of Adam?? Not sure, you'd have to ask them. In the meantime we can continue trying to improve our squad that finished 15th.
nicko Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Much as I enjoy the summer habit of guessing at the mystery midfielder, just a couple of things. VAUGHAN...free...absolutely no Rovers contact. ADAM...way too expensive now and only like to go to one club. CARRICK...zero chance. PARK...zero chance. Nobody has stabbed at the name yet - and I have yet to get an update to see how live this one is. Thought somebody might have had the same name... Good player in my book.

Seems like he has major injury problems. For me that would just rule him out - Grella and Dunn have really caused huge grief by being on the sidelines so much.
braddock Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Cue annoyance that we aren't in for Vaughan. No point talking about him any more unless things change, he obviously isn't what we are looking for.
